No high chair ready for us or kids stuff such as crayons, menu and table mat offered despite it being clear on reservation that these would be required. Staff generally ok, but service was average at best. Food was really good.
Food was poor on this visit cold potatoes and vegetables and meat was tough, new layout doesn’t work well as starters etc are to close to the end of the carvery counter so becomes very crowded
Plates were cold which cooled the food down rapidly! Vegetables were not cooked sufficiently. My beef was quite tough albeit I had asked for some more well done as the blood was still running when cut which I do not like.
Great service and fantastic food
Great selection of food
Served quickly and waitress was lovely and friendly
Far too loud and busy. Food was cold and below average.
The restaurant has been refurbished but unfortunately as it is now completely open plan, the noise level was really high, such a shame as it was really nice before. I don’t know whether it was because it was Father’s Day but it seemed a bit chaotic. The drinks took ages to come and they came separately rather than together, we had to ask if we could have soup rather than our server asking us. We weren’t offered the promotional voucher when u paid the bill either. Food is nice though and it has been fine on previous occasions.
We were over charged for drinks, drought beer was off and had to be changed twice and drinks are very overpriced. There was not enough choice for carvery option compared to previous visits. Overall an ok time but probably won’t go back.
It’s the first time we have been there for a carvery and I have to say I would go back again.. the lady that served us was very friendly and was always asking if every thing was ok and if she could get us any thing.. the food was very nice I thought there could of been more selection of puddings but the puddings that was there was ok..
This was my first visit with my partner and son. The food was lovely, lots of choice at an excellent price and kids eat free. The 4 course unlimited meal option for Sunday Carvery dining is worth it. I believe from signage that the room currently used is only temporary as there is renovation going on in the usual dining area. Will be nice to go back a see it completed.
Food was great but the temporary room that was been used for dining was dark and dingy.
Spoke to manager about quality of food and setting. Tables were left dirty, food cold. Staff started removing tables before we had finished. Paid over £60 for poor food and was hoping with the temporary set up the manager may have invited us back for a complimentary meal to regain faith. But manager nowhere to be seen when settling up bill. Very disappointed. Stale bread. Hardly any variety and could count the carrots left. Mashed potatoes very unpleasant. Totally disappointed.
Only eaten at the Carvery and have not been disappointed
We booked through open table which showed reservations only available for 4.30pm. In fairness to the staff it wasn’t their fault at all, but we feel this was too late to take the booking, as the Sunday lunch actually closes at 4.30pm, although they do serve until everyone has completed their meal. Obviously again by coming at this time the carvery is coming to a close too, again we were served with a very friendly face, and weren’t made to feel rushed, but I do feel bookings should stop a bit earlier.
We have had Sunday Lunch many times before, but at the moment the Restaurant is having a makeover and a Function room is being used for the Sunday Carvery. It is a 4 Course meal. The Cold table is lovely a Great Selection a Salad bowl,Prawn cocktails ,0lives,Pate,Porkpie ham bread rolls etc then soup of the day followed by Sunday Carvery a Selection of Turkey,Gammon,Roast Beef,Vegetables Beans,Cabbage,Sprouts ,Carrots,Peas and lovely Chefs Gravy.Help yourself to lovely Desserts Icecream Mouse, chocolate brownies etc and Hot Rhubarb Crumble with Apple & Custard Hot waffles,Staff are excellent and were most helpful cannot wait to go again soon. Patricia & Patrick Butler.
We had a very enjoyable Sunday lunch even though the usual dining room was being renovated. I must admit I liked the room better than the grill. The food was excellent although the ice cream machine didn’t work very well.
Sunday lunch was very enjoyable; we will certainly visit again.
Would not recommend. Awful service, cold food, dirty glasses and cutlery. Requested a seat close to the Carvery for a disabled member of the party and we were put on the table furthest from it. Not labels on food, not good for anyone aspecially people with allergies. Loud music playing (ndubz) not really dining appropriate.
Don’t waste your money.
Family get together for a meet and greet with our new baby
No one come to let us know you had to order drinks from the bar
Asked 4 times for some butter to eat with the rolls gave up in the end as none was put out on the buffet table or brought over to our table
Yorkshire puddings was so hard and tasteless that 4 of us left them uneaten
Most of the vegetables was cold some never had any flame to keep them warm and the ones that did other dinners left the lids open and none of the serving staff put them down so they just sit open until someone else came up to get there meal
Lady at the bar tried to over charge us
It stated online when I made the hooked that children eat free of charge when there was a paying adult
There were 6 adults and 2 children under 5 in our group
When my husband said about the kids being charged she then said oh I will apply some discount for you when in actual fact they shouldn’t of been a charge for the 2 children in the first place
Feel really let down by the Solihull village has we have stayed over 15 times and eaten Sunday lunch over 6 times and this time being the worse
Felt quite embarrassed that we recommended it to our family and they didn’t actually enjoy the experience in your hotel
Better when in the restaurant, the inspiration room better suited to conference or weddings
We had Sunday lunch on the 29th April , good value for money , pleasant staff.
Very good the way staff keep the starter & desert section topped up & clean .
The chief serving the carvery very nice man .
The service, food and venue were outstanding. However we had arranged this lunch for a get together with friends and family. The music in the suite where the lunch was served was extremely loud, and this was a bit off putting.
We had a loverly Sunday lunch , loverly good , topped up all the time. A bigger vegetable selection would be great Thank you
Just really disappointed that they advertise that kids eat free then charged me for my two kids and there excuse was that they have changed the offer I got last time to only under 5’s eat free! If this is the case it should have changed your T&C’s on line! Didn’t cause a fuss at the time as it was full. I just will not be returning.
Wide range of food on offer. Tables cleared quickly and efficiently. Excellent service
Was a quiet and lovely evening for a birthday meal with my husband food was tasty if a little over priced. Overall a very good evening.
Excellent service good food. Food constantly refreshed.
Table wasn't a big round table. Food from the carvery was horrible. Meat was undercooked and the carrots overdone. The mash potato tasted fishy was not impressed swapped it for boneless chicken pieces they went back also they were saturated in salt yuk! Service was slow and they worked with no urgency. It said on this open table advertisement that it was £14.95 each but that was incorrect as it was £17.95 so that was annoying. My meal was refunded off the bill. Overall was gutted as went for mothering sunday and my mums birthday glad they enjoyed their food. I would like to enquire about a refund for £12 becaude the price difference from on here to the restaurant.
Lovely food and very helpful friendly staff . We will definitely be returning in the future
Starters and puddings were good but the main course was disappointing. The beef was quite tough and some of the veg was over cooked.
The service was excellent and the staff were very friendly.
We had a lovely family get together to thank Mom and Dad for everything they have done for us all over the years.Everything about the day was great , the food the staff bang on!!
Sunday lunch was fabulous, couldn’t fault it! Good choice of starters, lovely selection of hot vegetables and lovely lean meat. Lovely apple crumble and custard as well as ice cream machine! Fabulous.
The Village Sunday Carvery was delicious and excellent value. Good wine list. Great choice of starters. Main course was fresh and hot. Good choice of hot and cold puddings. Staff efficient and friendly. Will certainly go again.
Overall the evening was ok. The food was great, but the service was slow on a relatively empty restaurant. It was not very warm we,were seated by the window which had a cold draft coming across. Even if we had moved I don’t think it would have been any warmer. The atmosphere was non existent. We think the restaurant is set up for business and people staying at the hotel. The food and drink is very expensive and then they had the check to add on the service charge when there was only 4 of us dining. Would I recommend NO sorry.
Unfortunately 3 courses for £15 clearly isn’t sustainable and you can tell from the quality. The starter is good the main is mediocre and the desserts a disaster.
it was valentine's night, our table was booked for 9:45. The service was rushed, we wernt made very welcome, it seemed they just wanted us to hurry up and go. our starter was nice and so was our desert but unfortunately our main course was dampened by uncooked pork kebabs. we of cause couldn't eat the pork, when the waitress asked was everything okay with our meal i explained about the pork not being cooked she agreed as she could he for herself and just said " sorry about that". no offer to reconcile the matter. with our meal 2 glasses of prosecco was included which had to ask for twice and only got at the end of our meal. overall not very impressed with the 'village grill'. i don't think ill be returning for dinner.
Brilliant! Table was large enough for the 13 of us. Sunday lunch deal is amazing value, starters were all lovely and something for everyone. Carvery was well stocked and meat was cooked to perfection. Staff were polite and proactive.
Sweets you help yourself too, again all hot that should be, waffles and ice cream again something to every ones taste. Will be coming again. Thanks for a lovely afternoon .
Great service and food for a great price. Lovely surroundings
Excellent food at the Sunday carvery. Great service & excellent selection of food.
Food was ok
Potatoes were too herby/garlicky lost the potato flavour completly. Waitress was too familiar. Drinks werent fully available due to the bar being busy so had to have 3rd choice drink. Service charge was automarically added which was just rude.
Food is always delicious and a good choice of meals.
Staff always give good service.
