Village Grill - Village Hotel Solihull Ratings and Reviews
Our last visit was a couple of weeks ago The Village Hotel is such a good choice for EATING in the BAR Or The Restaurant Excellent Choice of Drinks and Food,The Staff are all well trained Polite and Friendly which is a hard thing to find in a lot of EATERIES.We booked a table for 15.30pm today the 17th of September .We arrived at 3pm We checked in at the reception desk in the restaurant and the young Man in charge told us to take a seat in the FOYER and would call us when a table was available. We waited till 3.40pm and made enquiries the young lady apologised as the young man was on his break. We were then taken to our table .We were served by Becky a very nice young lady who made us feel most welcome .We both had SOUP which was Leek & Potato brought to our table in a jug and poured into two bowls it was lovely and hot served with warm bread rolls and butter. We then proceeded to the Cold Table help yourself to a lovely selection of Prawn Cocktails ,salads pork pie pate chicken cooked meats olives dips more bread rolls butter etc you could have as much as you wanted. We then went to the Carvery with a choice of Roast Beef Gammon and Turkey.Pigs in blankets,Yorkshire puddings Roast Potatoes,Mash, buttons of carrots, cabbage Cauliflower cheese Broccili and delicious gravy. Then you can help yourself to a lovely selection of desserts Strawberry trifle ,Chocolate dessert with cream,Fruit salad etc and help yourself to Icecream.4 course is £14.95 adult Children eat free with unlimited icecream so ideal for a family. The Gentleman in charge asked us was everything ok my husband said yes we really enjoyed it but was dissapointed he didnt let us know when a table was ready he apologised and said they had been busy and he had forgot and as a gesture of goodwill only charged us for one person which was very kind cannot wait till our next visit,We rate it 5 Star STAFF FOOD AND SURROUNDINGS Patricia & Patrick Butler.
We last visited The Village hotel about 5 yrs ago we were members of the gym when it first opened but as we are getting older health issues etc we were unable to continue we are 79 & 80 yrs old . I was recently in hospital with a Fracture in my back now recovering on strong medication lost my appetite we booked for Sunday lunch which was first. Lass first available time was 3.30pm the restaurant was really full we were greeted by a very nice gentleman who showed us to our table the food was excellent 4 Course each for £29.90 the two.this is why we rate it 5star will be back again soon.didnt get waitress's name think it was Jessica not sure.one of the best Sunday lunches in Solihull area we have tried.
I was looking for somewhere nice to take my mother out for a meal for mothers day and found this venue on the internet , from the moment we arrived we was impressed with the decor the great customer service and then we had our meal we opted for the rump steak and it surely was one of the best meals I have ever had , Many thanks to all the great staff at this superb venue
We visited the Solihull Village in September 2016 for my Dads 90th birthday but did not get to enjoy the meal as had to look after my disabled mum and also was nursing an injury. So my hubby and I decided to go again when he had a sunday off. It wa ands really easy to book on line and we arrived early at 1.05 instead of 1.30pm. The hostess allowed us to sit in the dining room and appointed our server. We had Louis who was training and he was really pleasant. The foot was piping hot and plentiful. The kitchen staff were continually out ensuring that the plates were kept full. We had a lovely couple of hours together, gorgeous food and we were stuffed when we left. Would certainly go again for either a meal on our own or as a family celebration.
Have dined here on many occasions and have always left excellent reviews. However, on our latest visit for Sunday lunch we were all extremely disappointed with the lack of choice for desert. There was no hot pudding/custard. There was a choice of a cheesecake or chocolate mousse type desert, neither of which one of the party was able to have. The waffles were bland, even though they had what appeared to be chocolate on them, again one of the party was unable to try due to the chocolate content. The final choice was ice cream, which was all well and good if you didn't mind leaving the restaurant and then leaning behind a pretend ice cream van made of cardboard, serving the ice cream in a tub/ice cream cone and then manoeuvring backwards away from the 'van' in full view of a reception full of guests who had just arrived on a coach and were queuing to book into the hotel, before returning to the restaurant to eat. This spoiled the whole Sunday lunch. Would have to seriously think twice before returning again.
Food was fulfilling and very tasty/well presented. Quiet evening regarding people numbers, so the noise level wasn't too annoying (restaurant very noisy on previous visit) this visit attracted an automatic service charge to our very expensive meal, shan't bother dining there ever again.
Quite a drive to get there but worth it.
All courses were of high quality and the variety from the salad bar was extensive and tasty.
The selection from the Carvery was very good and went down well.
The Desserts were "the icing on the cake".
The service had good timing and courtesy.
Excellent value for money.
The self service starters looked very impressive, tomato & basil soup was served to the table, very tasty. The main event was very nice, 3 meats available and plenty of veg, unusually for a carvery everything was nice and hot, however, my only disappontment was that the plates were cold as the plate warmer had broken, otherwise I would have enjoyes more of my dinner but once it went cold I put it to one side, I like my food hot.
Desert was lovely too, as much as you can eat, apple crumble, hot custard, ice cream and few more.
Relaxed enjoyable atmosphere
Dined via Groupon deal which did state restrictions but I was most disappointed by portion size. I had mushrooms to start, five button sized mushrooms, I was so hungry. My main Teriyaki Salmon, decent salmon fillet, perfectly cooked, but rice and kale portion was so small I left and had a further meal at home I didn't feel I'd had dinner at all. Throughout our main and even after our plates were cleared we were never asked if we required more drinks though our glasses were empty. We did call the waiter to order coffee at least 30 minutes after the table had been cleared.
Our table was booked for 3.30 we were sat at 4pm I requested a back table was give one inthe middle of the room my father is I a wheelchair so no room for him. We the had to wait another 30minsnto be moved. Floor was dirty food was dry and it was freezing. Not sure it was worth over £100 spent not a happy customer
