Went here for Sunday lunch for the first time it was very greasy the meat was really poor & soaked in grease, sorry I’m a gym member but just keep to drinks wine coffee etc. although the cocktails are shocking.
Also I’m still waiting for all the dust to be removed on all the ducting pipes over head who would design this for a restaurant I’m not the only one to notice I here people talking about the same, it’s going to get that dusty over your head nobody will want to sit in there!! Lisa c
Sunday lunch was excellent with a variety of vegetables. Turkey was delicious and plentiful. There was a good choice of starters but less of desserts. We managed to get BOGOF for Sunday Lunch so it was even better value. I would recommend a visit.
If you were staying at the hotel, great to have a bite to eat. Food a bit pricey, but it was excellent food.
forgot our food waited 1hour and 20mins, people came in and got their food before us we raised this and got told the order hadn't gone through to the kitchen, arrived a sharing bucket of squid for £9, opened lid and 5 pieces of squid to share? asked manager if this was right he said "its standard" our friends had loaded fries and the bacon wasn't cooked, told the waitress she came back out and said the chef says "well it is" awful service and food
We had booked a table for 7.30 we went to the bar and waited at least ten minutes to be attended to, we were shown to our table and told to go to the bar and order our food which again was another wait ! The bar person forgot to give me my change so I had to ask for it ! When our food arrived we had to ask for steak knives to eat our steaks with. The food was very good but after we had finished nobody came over to clear our table, my husband went to the bar and ordered a desert and the waitress bought them over but had to clear the table before giving them to us, we also had to ask for spoons !
Absolutely not. Didn’t stay. Wish I could leave zero in all categories. Awful place. Basically a sports bar and nothing else. It was as if we were in a social club
Table that had been reserved for over 1 week was not reserved when I arrived
Food took just under an hour, with no apology until I went and asked how long it would be! I was ignored by male barman when stood waiting for over 5 mins ( no one else waiting, he was refilling spirits) when food arrived no apology given for wait. Food was well cooked and very tasty. Surroundings are modern and comfortable. Just need to improve service. If meal times are near an hour you should be told when ordering. Unfortunately the staff were too busy trying to impress a visiting football team!
All our meals didn’t get entered into the till the first time, there was also some confusion about substituting breakfast potatoes for fries. Took starter plates a while to arrive, needed to ask for cutlery. Only option for Sunday lunch dessert was breakfast pastries and yogurt which was clearly part of the brunch offering. On the plus side staff seemed polite and helpful, despite clearly being very young and inexperienced, hence the mistakes. Also, the food was excellent and generous quantities.
The starters/buffet table was unexpectedly full of good quality healthy food. Effectively we had three courses for the price of a main meal as we returned to the buffet table for delicious yoghurt mixtures for dessert. Wow. Good value and nice friendly vibe. Staff were a happy hardworking bunch of people. We were very impressed.
Lovely surroundings with very friendly helpful staff and as regards food there was a good choice , substantial portions and the presentation was good however it was let down by food only being warm when it arrived so even cooler by the time it takes to eat it- it might had stayed warm if served on a hot plate rather than a wooden slab.
We would recommend the Village but would also have to mention the warm/ cold food to friends or family.
Fantastic food and very welcoming staff
The only thing I wasn't happy with was the appatiser of sea food being left out on the side to dry up. They need to be chilled or removed ever 20mins.
Really disappointing first visit. We have just joined the Gym and took advantage of the 2 for 1 lunch last Sunday. We were of course unfamiliar with how things worked in the restaurant but your staff failed to explain anything until we asked. The two mains we ordered (turkey) were unappetizing and the sprouts were cold, not cool but cold. Complained and a new bowl was brought after we were half way through our meal and, guess what these were cold too. Only one thing worse than cold sprouts....more cold sprouts. Not a good start and We do hope you will look into this and that if we visit again things will be better. Frankly there seemed to be no one in charge and most of the staff were chatting to each other rather than looking after their customers.
Disappointed they have changed the self service roast but the new kitchen dished up was of good portion. The starters and desserts were nice, good selection. The roast beef was tender and roast potatoes lovely. Good price and as a gym member very good value.
Booked a table for boyfriends 21st birthday and expected a table in a nice area with some balloons maybe or banners but got nothing. Waiter was quite rude and snappy too.
Food ok but nothing special. Served on a wooden board - what’s wrong with plates!!!!
Disappointed carvery was not now on the menu, but food produced was value for money.
The food is great but they still have not sorted out their staff
I asked for a plate as the carvery had run out it was like i just asked for all his money, The bar staff were so slow, and understaffed
Nice lunch - could have more choice for starter and dessert on carvery deal - the carvery meat was great but more veg would be good
Very noisy with big screen going not good for a Sunday lunch service could be better tables not cleared , beef not tender nothing labeled so didn't know they had soup for starters drinks expensive we were thinking of coming for Xmas meal! !!
Basic requirements were unavailable, there are many other local places that offer better value for money.
A simple request was colouring crayons for my daughter so she would be able to fill out the activity sheets we were given, they had none available.Food was good but overpriced.
It is a place to enjoy good basic meals. No great frills . Just simple food cooked well. I has th e steak and it was really good. My wife thoroughly enjoyed the chicken kiev meal.
It is more of sports bar than a hotel restaurant so a good place to watch sport with a drink and some sharing food.
It would have been nice to have been told that there were starters and desserts included in the price. As a result we didn’t have a starter. The dessert was very average but at least we were made aware they were included when we asked for the dessert menu. I would however give them a second chance because the food wasn’t too bad.
Would not recommend until customer service improves. Started with poor online experience, booked a table initially okay, but then couldn't modify the booking later on to increase numbers. On telephoning, couldn't get through, just rang and rang, so my secretary had to walk across to the hotel in person to make the changes, no apology was given on explaining the problem. Once at our meal, the service was a little lacks, we had to ask for menus, then ask about ordering the food, told to go to the bar, no one had explained this when seating us. Whilst I must say however that the food was very good and the atmosphere was good too; the overall experience could have been much better and attention is needed to your customer service and telephone answering system.
I have been a couple of times now the first couple of times were for the normal menu which was lovely and the staff were great on those occasions this time we came for the sunday roast which was ok but the food was rather bland. The beef was a tad undercooked for most people, the gravy was like water and the taste of it app was just plain. The roast potatoes had a funny taste to them and as for the pudding it was advertised as a ultimate sunday but it was just a icecream cone and icecream which also had a funny taste with some sprinkles and sauce not ultimate at all. It would have been nice to have some bowls at lease in case you dont like a cone and the other puddings were not very nice. The starters were the best but they are tiny so u need a good few of them and the rolls were lovely. I would go again just not for a sunday roast
We have eaten here before from the main menu and it's been lovley, However this time we went for the carvery. Only had Gammon and Beef none of which the children eat but wasn't told this until after we had paid and went to plate lunch up for them. Selection of veg poor, Could of cooked better myself. Selection of starters good however desserts poor. Would eat again but wouldn't go for the carvery.
Great place to eat, the food was brilliant and the bar/grill area itself was amazing! Perfect value for money, and the best Mojito I’ve ever had!
Everything spot on and you can eat as much as you like with the carvery...
Only 4 stars for ambience as we were sat next to a lady who complained very loudly the whole time about her “terrible” service which wasn’t village fault at all but staff still dealt with her very well and tried their best to make her happy which seemed an impossible task!
Defo be back ASAP
We had a fantastic meal, a fabulous 3 course Sunday lunch with all the trimmings, would recommend for sure
Nice hotel with good rooms.
However staff appeared quite chaotic at times and trying to deal with too many customers at once .
Menu disappointing as not told that our deal only included a set menu and not full menu which had vegatarian options on it. So only one option available.
Ran out of decaf tea and fruit at breakfast .
Would return for overnight stay but not bother with the food again
Visited for the Sunday carvery. Lunch was ok but the choice was poor and the food was quite bland. The service was shocking, plates left on our table, waiting staff looked disinterested in is as customers and were slow. Very 'sloth like'. Wouldn't hurry back.
Vegetarian request was well catered for. Food was plentiful with good quality. Staff friendly and efficient.
Eaten and stayed here a few times now. Carvery is great especially the starters and kids loved the deserts. Alcohol is expensive at £4:50 a pint and overcharged for one meal at the end but manager corrected the mistake immediately
Thought for the money food was expensive ordered fillet steak for £30 all that came was piece of meat and couple of chips in a pot .Steak was nice but could of had a mushroom tomato or onion rings so meal was boring . 4 of us had meal and bill was £200 expensive in my opinion ,the service was good and the guy who came over to talk to us after was very friendly and took in our feed back .
The food is at best, average! Definitely over priced. Nice venue good atmosphere! Could do with more bar staff when the football is on.
Noisy n plastic feeling... So we won't be back....
Unfortunately ran out of coffee and only one hot pudding available as again ran out.
Thought the £15.95 could have included a hot drink at the price.
We took some friends and their only comment was veg selection was limited.
Went for the Sunday carvery. On the website it says 12-5 pm we booked for 4.30 but we’re asked to come earlier. Turned up at 4pm. Had to wait ages for bread to be bought out for starters. Non existent greens to go with meal as they’d all been eaten by others before us.
Desserts(help yourself) we’r all tidied up away before we’d finished (and before 4.45pm). So , wouldn’t recommend really based on our experience, may have been lovely earlier in the day. Also, if you’re not football lovers it may not be the place for you as huge screens & fans dominate the place. It’s a restaurant within a sports bar.
The restaurant serves good food and is ideal if you are staying at the hotel in respect of the convenience factor. The food was generally good, not outstanding and a bit lacking in flavour but suited our purpose. Price-wise, it's not give-away eg a steak at £30 and several mains at £18 but plenty of pizza choice. On the whole, I would recommend it if you are a hotel guest.
