We had booked for a Sunday carvery but was telephoned to say they no longer offered this and it was now a set Sunday lunch, 1,2 or 3 courses. The food offered was very tasty although not very hot. Not good value for money either we felt The environment was a real negative. The bar/restaurant felt dirty and needed tables clearing. It was really cold and the noise level wasn’t relaxing. Tasty food but we will not be returning as it was expensive and chaotic.

We waited 45 mins for our main, the food was poor. The Sunday lunch has all changed and it’s rubbish. The bar is freezing and I won’t be coming back. We got married at the hotel 4 years ago and it was much better. I don’t like the food it’s gone down rate is 0

We used to come often on a Sunday for the buffet . We were disappointed it was no longer on offer . Plus the kids eat free option has now stopped . The restaurant was very quiet and was always busy on a Sunday on most of our visits . Although the food was ok we didn't feel it was worth £70 for a family of 4 . We felt the previous kids eat free option was good value and now this has stopped we will not be returning.

Food was cold, service at bar is terrible. (Some) Staff seem to avoid serving people choosing to walk around the bar rather than serving, also witnessed one staff member swear at another, didn’t offend me but imagine it could to some people

Went for Sunday lunch, booked for 4.15pm. Went for the 3 course option. Starters looked as if they had been out for a while, quite a few options still available. Choice of 2 mains, either turkey with stuffing and pigs in blankets and cranberry, or beef with horseradish, both with roast potatoes, Yorkshire’s, carrots, cabbage and sprouts. Both looked as if they had been thrown on the plate, weren’t hot, beef was dry, veg was soggy, and the turkey came without stuffing or pigs in blankets! Did arrive when asked but were dry, burnt and crozzled. Went for desert, all that was left was pan au chocolate and 1 berry compote, when we asked why there were no other options we were told it was the end of service. I said why advertise the times for three courses when there was nothing left? They did manage to conjure up 4 lemon muffins! My daughter had booked this for a special occasion, and it was totally spoiled. She did complain and had a reduced bill, but that was not the point. My daughter is a regular customer there with friends and usually eats earlier and has enjoyed the meal, so I think the advice would be go earlier! I won’t go again as I thought it was quite noisy, but there was a rugby match on at the time.

Booked the Sunday lunch offer based on our experience a couple of years back. However both the format and menu have changed. Food was good but the system and service a little haphazard. No one had a clue on what to do. Starters were self service but you had to leave a credit card at the bar and order your main course there!! Strange set up but good very tasty which I guess is what matters.

Paid for Sunday brunch. Ate a few starters but not much as the burger looked good. Ordered 2 brunch burgers. Waited 35 minutes, still no burgers. Had a conversation with the bar people who came over 5 minutes later and told us it will be 2 or 3 minutes. Waited another 15 to 20 minutes and then we decided to leave. Got our refund and left. The place was very quiet and not many sat eating. Terrible service. First time there. Poor.

Was quite disappointed with the restaurant and bar. I ordered a glass of prosecco and got half a flute of flat prosecco. My second glass was then overflowing... Food was a major disappointment. My calamari came out in a bamboo steamer - mix up of countries there... it was also not the best quality, and at almost £10, I would expect better! I then had the chicken Kiev which had no garlic filling so was just a breaded chicken breast with no seasoning. Service wasn't great - no real care for the customers.

Food was very good and service was excellent, but I didn't like my steak being served on a wooden platter. Also the dining room was a mixture between a sports bar and a restaurant. It was a very spacious room and it was very cold and draughty. It had no identity.

Very disappointed with what they have done to the eating area at the Village hotel. It’s such a shame as they are mostly lovely hotels (we’ve stayed in a few) and it is nice, when staying in a good hotel, to be able to eat in a proper restaurant and not in a glorified sports bar. We decided to give the Sunday Carvery a try and, to be honest, were rather underwhelmed. The staff were all helpful and friendly and the service was good. We were impressed with the range and array of (unlimited) starters on offer - well presented and very tasty. The main course (choice of beef or turkey) came served on a wooden board with all the trimmings, it looked appealing but was not hot enough and the meat was a little dry (overcooked). Desserts seemed to me like they were leftovers from breakfast or brunch - smoothies, yogurt pots, muffins, pastries - not really Sunday lunch puddings! All in all reasonable value but not a place I would be inclined to take the family for Sunday lunch.

It was the first time we had been in about a year and overall it wasn’t so good I didn’t like the Sunday lunch served on a wooden board I don’t think wooden boards of that hygienic and it’s difficult Paul gravy my little girl pot of gravy on it spell on the table. I missed being a book to go up to the carvery and before there was some really lovely desserts like cheesecake and apple crumble with custard so I missed those on this visit and last year we used to come every week but because of the changes I don’t think we will go often

The sunday lunch was not as expected, it was always a Sunday carvery with assorted starters and dessert. Now it has been changed to a meal plated up in the kitchen on wooden boards with two small slices of meat and cold vegetables. The starters were disgusting and mainly fish and the dessert was a muffin. We were good fans of the Sunday carvery but we will not be visiting again. The wooden chopping boards looked dirty and unhygienic. Both me and my wife had terrible stomach ache in the evening followed by numerous trips to the bathroom

When we arrived there was no record of our booking. I showed them my booking confirmation and they tried sitting up close to the bar area where it was very noisy and not within the restaurant part. When we requested a somewhere new to sit they said they couldn’t sit us in the restaurant area. I explained because we had booked we should be sat in the restaurant area. We were then moved to the restaurant area and the staff were very helpful and accommodating. Half way through the meal we asked for some more drinks and were told we had to go get our own from the bar... after an awkward silence we were then told to get someone who has been serving tables. Food was lovely and most staff were helpful and accommodating. Would definitely recommend ringing to confirm your booking after doing it online. I did it online as I find it difficult getting hold of them by phone!

The main course was lovely . Everything was fresh and tasty. The starters and deserts are served in tiny plastic tubs . We said it was like eating on an aeroplane. The portions are minute and quite tasteless. Not enough staff to clear the tables but staff were pleasant. When finished we moved to the seating area in reception and it was good until they turned on the TV. Seriously does it need to be that loud? We moved again and sat and had a coffee in Starbucks . Not sure if we would go again - probably not- but we will if they do something about the starters and desserts as they were very disappointing.

Sunday lunch. Meat was good poor choice of vegetables, mash potato resembled and tasted like packet mash. Deserts were on show for customers to help themselves to., These were dry and stale. Very noisy due to the proximity of the seating area to the bar. Ice cream for the children was good. Service from the staff was great.

Lack of information provided by staff upon arrival. We had to ask about gluten free options and were also not aware of the sundae available until after we had finished eating. Some information and explanation upon arrival would have been nice. The desserts were poor. Since the venue has been renovated it seems that a lot of the most appealing options have been removed from the menu. I am unsure if I would choose to eat here again
