Fab service great sharing platters for office get together and yummy food . Great value
Thanks to Erika and her team
Third visit here, food was fantastic. Will go again for sure.
The food was good. However, I was very annoyed that having booked a table for 6 earlier in the day, we got there to discover that 'our' table had been given to other people. With both Chelsea and Arsenal playing on the big screens it was predictably very busy (thus the reason for having booked a table!) and we were very lucky to find the last two small tables available and merge then together to make one larger table, although we did have a hint to find 6 chairs! . I do wonder, though, what the point of booking is if tables are not actually reserved for you.
Lovely food, second visit will certainly go again.
Noisy loud ,tables littered with dirty plates. Staff unhelpful and miserable looking.
Great meal and staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Great value for money. Would definitely recommend!
Had a fab 4 course Carvery meal. Not been here before but will definitely be back.
varied menu, ideal for a snack or something more.
We were there on a weekday lunchtime - it was quite quiet
I would definitely recommend the Pub and Grill Watford . Staff were excellent especially Molly ( with the red hair ) the only down side was that there was no table service .
Food was lovely on games match days crowded and noisy otherwise a delight
Our table wasn’t reserved when we got there so we had to wait for it to be set up
The food was good, although don’t expect the best service! We had arranged a meal for my daughters 9th birthday. They took our order, the food arrived a short while later - but they completely forgot about us after that! We had to ask a member of staff (after trying to hunt someone down for ages!) to clear our table. They sent someone to the wrong table to clear (an empty table!), then we wanted the cake brought out. That took 20 minutes or more! My sister in law in the end went to the kitchen to get it herself!! We could have just kept it at the table with us rather than bother asking the staff!! Later, We ordered coffee at the bar. After another 15 minutes, we asked where they were and they had been left on the side to go cold! Another 10 minutes and we finally had our coffees. My 3 year old was completely exhausted after a 4 hour meal that shouldn’t have taken that long! Luckily we enjoyed each other’s company and were laughing at how poor it all was, what else can you do?!
Really lovely sports bar/pub/restaurant laid back and relaxing with plenty of finger food choices. Lovely set up with some sofas and recliner chairs. sunday brunch is great and drinks are reasonably priced. Good chill out joint with mates and family.
Very busy and noisy but good value and selection of salads and grill. Service was great considering being busy
Atmosphere was awful, language from other customers was truly appalling saying c..t at least 20 times and children were also present. Would never return
Went for Sunday lunch carvery. Nice selection of shot glass starters as well as cold meats, smoked mackeral and cheese. Nice leek and potato soup, asked for it to be hot, and it was. 3 meats to choose from beef, turkey and gammon all luke warm, along with luke warm veg and potatoes. 2 of our party had grilled salmon, which was pre ordered. Hot apple pie or apple crumble and custard for dessert, I had very poor fruit salad in shot glass plenty of little desserts if you wanted and ice cream for kids. Got 25% off as we were with a Village Gym member so was reasonable. Will go again
Had a stomach ache after food had to run to toilet fewctines during the night
went there for a family meal with my new born son , wife and sister. they sat us in cramped area surrounding by football fans screaming and shouting at the football . they only had two meats and the beef was awful . i asked for another table as the shouting was scaring my new born son but was brushed off with the comment the tables were booked well i booked too !!
We were sat at a table which was right on top of people sitting st the bar so my husband kept getting knocked as people tried to squeeze past so I would think about the layout from that point of view.
Food was very hood, liked the variety of started that you could try and they were delicious. The carvery meal was delicious, too full for dessert but managed some ice cream, needed help to use the machine though.
Could have done with staff being a bit more attentive to clearing tables and getting a drink, but those that were around were good.
Very good food and good service
A surprisingly nice ambience and great people watching as most of the strictly come dancing stars and celebrities were at the next table.
Lots of photos and selfies taken. My granddaughters thought they were in TV heaven.
I don’t like the television screens, too loud, too distracted.
I won’t meet my friends for a chat there again.
Have eaten here multiple times. The food quality is mediocre at best, while the prices are for high quality cuisine. Flavours are not developed and often very plain. Would not trust raw food from this place e.g. salmon in the poke bowl or order your steak (medium) rare.
The starters were OK if you like a very small amount of smoked salmon on salad leaves that had seen better days, the roast meats were very good plenty of veg, but the cauliflower cheese was undercooked. The waitresses don't speak very good English and your plates are taken away so quickly you might still be holing a spoon or fork, the fruit salad was tasteless.
The soup which came from the kitchen was nice and tasty and hot, as was the apple crumble and custard.
Overall for the money paid it is a good place to meet up with friends for Sunday lunch.
Excellent food with exceptional service thank to Richard and the team.
Been a few times for a Sunday Calvery and always lovely. This time not so great. Almost out of food. Couldn't have starters as they said we needed to hurry before they run out of the last bit of beef. No gravy. Disappointing meal for £15pp
The stroganoff was poor with the steak cold and tough . It appears that steak was placed on the sauce after the cooking ! My Wife ate very little.
Mussels were okay however they were very small but the sauce was quite good with coldish flavour with a good taste of wine.
Two glasses of white wine were warm so added ice which improved them.
We were stopping two nights so the other night we ate out.
Dined with my family after a busy day in London. Didn't realise it was the Chelsea v arsenal game and also didn't realise the bar wasn't separate from the restaurant. To say we had to shout to talk to each other would be an understatement. Some of the language from rowdy drunk football fans wasn't quite to my liking for my 4 year olds ears. However, food was okay and reasonably priced.
We spent a night at the Village Watford hotel and as part of the package booked a table in the onsite restaurant. Service was outstanding from the time we arrived and were seated to the time we left. Our waiter could not do enough to make us happy and was a credit to the restaurant. The food was delicious and plentiful, real hearty meals that would leave even the hungriest of people stuffed. Value for money was amazing particularly when booked as part of an overnight stay. We were celebrating our recent marriage with a night away and upon hearing this the staff offered their congratulations and a complimentary glass of Prosecco... All in all a fantastic service and experience. Would highly recommend.
Disappointed with the bar service, had to collect drinks ourselves, as would have not got them. Our pimms jug was left standing for 10 minutes whereupon we had to ask for it and go and get it. The desserts were cleared too quickly so had to speak to the manager to get involved otherwise we would have had a choice of only 2 desserts. Thankfully the manager sorted it for us and we got a voice of desserts. The food was good but because of the sloppy service will think twice about going again.
Situated in the Village Hotel, Elstree this Pub/Restaurant has a varied menu. The food was of good quality and the staff friendly and helpful.
The food was awful and overpriced didn't like the carvery. Very limited selection of the three courses and what we had was not very nice.
Drinks over priced too.
Was a fab atmosphere but to be fair it was only because England was playing and we won.
Staff were friendly and helpful.
Wouldn't go back or recommend to anyone.
1 out of 10
Lovely atmosphere, very busy but staff were great, really friendly and very efficient. Definitely recommend it for families and for watching sport
Celebrated a special occasion.
Pros: good relaxing atmosphere, friendly staff. Child friendly.
Cons: long waits for waitress to come to table. Cocktails overpriced for the quantity you get ( see pic). Bland food. Spent 70quid for a meal that we didn't enjoy. Disappointing. Would not recommend for food.
Overall we were happy with the food and service although we preferred it when the bar and restaurant were separate as it was very loud and more for social occasions rather than to have a nice quiet meal. We also thought it was understaffed for how busy it was.
I booked the place to watch Champions League final. I cancelled another place after I was offered a place with you guys. Totally overbooked. No rable given. Did not enjoy experience. Would not recommend.
Went out for a family celebration meal, to this restaurant. Extremely disappointed. It was more like eating in a pub, as everywhere we sat there were huge TV screens visible, showing football. This place has recently been renovated, to it's detriment. A lovely restaurant venue is now a pub eating place, nothing at all special about it. Great if you are a sports fan, but not suitable for family celebrations. We will definitely not be visiting again, nor will we recommend it to anyone. Such a shame, as it was perfect before!!
Good value food, served in a timely fashion by friendly staff, well worth using if you are staying at the hotel especially if you are a sports fan!
Got a steak what was £26 expecting a lot more,
Could of cooked a better steak my self
went there for sunday lunch at the weekend.very good value food was of good quality although the yorkshires were too dry.the service was first class erica our waitress could not do enough for us .would recommend to anyone wanting a sunday roast go there
Whilst I cannot fault the service, I feel the venue was somewhat overwhelming!
We arrived late to our prebooked Sunday lunch, originally booked for 3:30pm but arrived after 4pm. However, this was not a problem for the service staff who made every effort to ensure we could be seated and eat what remained of the Sunday 4 course carvery. The chef even prepared some fresh vegetables to ensure we could enjoy a meal...for this reason, the staff cannot be faulted. But I feel it tough to review the food fairly as we didn't experience the full selection...what we did eat was fine and I believe the usual selection is quite vast and regularly replenished.
I am critical of the setting though. I dined with my wife and 3 year old, all staying in the hotel on our visit to London. The venue overwhelmed and seemed more of a sports bar during our visit...the place was packed with football fans, each fairly vocal in support of the two teams playing on the big screens! Not really the kind of place to enjoy a family meal, especially with my 3 year old trembling in fear and tearful with every raucous cheer at the television. It made for uncomfortable eating and maybe something guests could be made aware of prior to future bookings.
