Very mixed feelings about this booking.
The food was great and one of the young waiters was very helpful in checking what food would be ok for my friend who is celiac to eat.
The problem was the very slow service. Our starters came in a reasonable time then nothing. No one came near us. Our empty starter plates were not cleared. After about an hour, I had to go and find someone near the kitchen to chase up our mains. Even then we had to wait because they had not started cooking them!
I wish I could say it might be a one off but I have had the same experience in the past here. The servers need to be more attentive and on the ball about how long people are waiting for food.
I would not recommend going there unless you are happy to wait a long time!
Great value and great quality. Cheaper and easier than cooking at home!
Decent food in a modern setting. Massive screens for the football from all seats.
There was 10 of us, and we all had a lovely time xx
Did not enjoy my experience at all. Buffet was no available when I got there so ordered off the main menu which I thought was over priced considering the quality of the food. I will not be in a hurry to dine there again
Great service even though it was busy. Staff went the extra mile to seat us earlier than our reservation. Nice food and good atmosphere.
Fab food, service and value.
Food was very good. The burger and pint offer for £2 is such a ridiculous price it’s just not worth eating at home.
Service and ordering is often hit and miss, but Sanja (the manager) always seems to be on hand to help out which is good.
Fast and friendly service, good food which was great as we were going to an event at the hotel
Took 55 minutes for our mains to appear. A fair few people were getting the same poor service and were complaining to staff. It was very much a painful experience and will not be going back.
The choice of the starters & desserts (part of the Sunday brunch) were very poor. They used to do puddings from the kitchen ie crumble & custard but now it seems like the leftovers of the breakfast was the dessert choice ie pastries & muffins.
Good value for money and as far the value of food, the Sunday Roast at the Village is great as far as the taste, variety and price.
I enjoyed the service which was very tentative
Can do better with better service and better food quality
Got seated quickly.
Staff friendly and very polite
Food was hot and dished up nicely, and got a load of food for the price
Was able to book afternoon tea for 2 people
However when I arrived I was told they do not do afternoon tea on any other day apart from saturdays
This ruined my birthday surprise and would have gone elsewhere if I had known it was saturdays only
Customer service other than this was good and food was good however right on meat in the chicken wrap
I have to say they were a little slack on meeting and greeting us. There was no one around and those that were, were busy. We made our own way to a table and when we eventually got someone's attention, they informed us we had to order at the bar. The food came in three different times (there was four of us). Only one person received cutlery, the other's had to source their own. The food was fine - it was just the service that was lacking. Disappointing.
Spent a couple of hours for a meeting over lunch.
The food was good.
The place was quite noisy, it would be better to have a section as a quiet zone.
Value for money in clean modern environment
Ticked all the boxes
Very pleased with our room. Excellent food in the restaurant. Only downside found the decor throughout the hotel and pool very dark.
Fab service great sharing platters for office get together and yummy food . Great value
Thanks to Erika and her team
Third visit here, food was fantastic. Will go again for sure.
The food was good. However, I was very annoyed that having booked a table for 6 earlier in the day, we got there to discover that 'our' table had been given to other people. With both Chelsea and Arsenal playing on the big screens it was predictably very busy (thus the reason for having booked a table!) and we were very lucky to find the last two small tables available and merge then together to make one larger table, although we did have a hint to find 6 chairs! . I do wonder, though, what the point of booking is if tables are not actually reserved for you.
Lovely food, second visit will certainly go again.
Noisy loud ,tables littered with dirty plates. Staff unhelpful and miserable looking.
Great meal and staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Great value for money. Would definitely recommend!
Had a fab 4 course Carvery meal. Not been here before but will definitely be back.
varied menu, ideal for a snack or something more.
We were there on a weekday lunchtime - it was quite quiet
I would definitely recommend the Pub and Grill Watford . Staff were excellent especially Molly ( with the red hair ) the only down side was that there was no table service .
Food was lovely on games match days crowded and noisy otherwise a delight
Our table wasn’t reserved when we got there so we had to wait for it to be set up
The food was good, although don’t expect the best service! We had arranged a meal for my daughters 9th birthday. They took our order, the food arrived a short while later - but they completely forgot about us after that! We had to ask a member of staff (after trying to hunt someone down for ages!) to clear our table. They sent someone to the wrong table to clear (an empty table!), then we wanted the cake brought out. That took 20 minutes or more! My sister in law in the end went to the kitchen to get it herself!! We could have just kept it at the table with us rather than bother asking the staff!! Later, We ordered coffee at the bar. After another 15 minutes, we asked where they were and they had been left on the side to go cold! Another 10 minutes and we finally had our coffees. My 3 year old was completely exhausted after a 4 hour meal that shouldn’t have taken that long! Luckily we enjoyed each other’s company and were laughing at how poor it all was, what else can you do?!
Really lovely sports bar/pub/restaurant laid back and relaxing with plenty of finger food choices. Lovely set up with some sofas and recliner chairs. sunday brunch is great and drinks are reasonably priced. Good chill out joint with mates and family.
Very busy and noisy but good value and selection of salads and grill. Service was great considering being busy
Atmosphere was awful, language from other customers was truly appalling saying c..t at least 20 times and children were also present. Would never return
Went for Sunday lunch carvery. Nice selection of shot glass starters as well as cold meats, smoked mackeral and cheese. Nice leek and potato soup, asked for it to be hot, and it was. 3 meats to choose from beef, turkey and gammon all luke warm, along with luke warm veg and potatoes. 2 of our party had grilled salmon, which was pre ordered. Hot apple pie or apple crumble and custard for dessert, I had very poor fruit salad in shot glass plenty of little desserts if you wanted and ice cream for kids. Got 25% off as we were with a Village Gym member so was reasonable. Will go again
Had a stomach ache after food had to run to toilet fewctines during the night
went there for a family meal with my new born son , wife and sister. they sat us in cramped area surrounding by football fans screaming and shouting at the football . they only had two meats and the beef was awful . i asked for another table as the shouting was scaring my new born son but was brushed off with the comment the tables were booked well i booked too !!
We were sat at a table which was right on top of people sitting st the bar so my husband kept getting knocked as people tried to squeeze past so I would think about the layout from that point of view.
Food was very hood, liked the variety of started that you could try and they were delicious. The carvery meal was delicious, too full for dessert but managed some ice cream, needed help to use the machine though.
Could have done with staff being a bit more attentive to clearing tables and getting a drink, but those that were around were good.
Very good food and good service
A surprisingly nice ambience and great people watching as most of the strictly come dancing stars and celebrities were at the next table.
Lots of photos and selfies taken. My granddaughters thought they were in TV heaven.
I don’t like the television screens, too loud, too distracted.
I won’t meet my friends for a chat there again.
