Went for sunday carvery. This is buffet style and because it’s quiet, everything is kept warm and is dry as a boot.
Staff were too busy watching the women’s World Cup to clear tables.
Very poor quality of food, not much choice and poor value for money
I think the selection offered at the village bury was nicer and fresher
Nice staff, and good service at a reasonable price
Great Food and Good atmosphere. Good sports bar as well.
The staff were friendly and extremely helpful but the food was tasteless and bland. My family did not enjoy it.
I did recommended it when I first came a few weeks ago. But this time it was just not the same. The man serving the carvery was absolutely lovely, but apart from that I didn’t think it was great
It's a great social pub but I miss the dining experience when it was a restaurant
Went for a Sunday Carvey! Only now doing two meats instead of three food cold no hot desserts think they are cutting back /going down hill from once a busy restaurant to empty tables!
My wife and I dine regularly at the village Ashton moss but was very disappointed this time, lukewarm soup to start with, the starters I feel should be kept chilled which they aren’t, and the gravy for the main meal is always cold, not sure why they use coffee pots to keep the gravy warm, my wife then got a dessert which the custard was all curdled because it had been there too long.
Food was really dry and over cooked , not all all pleasant
I was very disappointed with the food....the soup tasted as water with no veg, the carvery was not hot enough and the bar served alcoholic drinks in the wrong glasses...
Decided to treat an elderly family member to a nice meal out.....we should not have chosen the Village!
The layout is poor the bar being in the middle of the restaurant area means that when they show the football on the screens at the bar it is very loud too loud to enjoy a family meal and hold a conversation.
Now to the food, the soup to start did not taste of anything, apparently it was vegetable it just tasted like water. A selection of starters were available and the carvery itself was nice. Desserts also ok. I suppose its a good deal for £14.95 but we couldn't wait to get out due to the noise. The one saving grace is the lovely lady that waited on us.
I think the Village needs to decide whether it wants to be a restaurant or a bar as currently it isn't working as both.
We were sat at a small table very near to the bar area. It was very loud and rowdy we couldn’t have a conversation between the 4 of us as we couldn’t hear each other. We asked to be moved but it wasn’t possible at first. An alternative table right at the back became free after we had finished our starters, so we happily moved. Food was lovely and the young lady who served us was very nice and professional. Sorry village we won’t be visiting again! Great if your just out for drinks and in a large crowd but a table for 4 and a catch up - forget it !
Modern bar with comfortable seating, good service, and tasty food. Would recommend to anyone
Enjoyed it , was lovely staff were great too
Food was lovely
The table we were allocated was right by the bar and when we were asked to be moved to lots of empty seats the staff weren’t forthcoming. The bar was like a crèche and full of drunk groups at 7pm, not a nice atmosphere for eating. The new menu is terrible and expensive.
The meal was good, not great but not expensive. The staff weren't overly friendly or attentive and we had a big football screen in front of us so not the most relaxing of settings.
Great carvery, highly recommended! Would definitely return!
We went as a family with a child to the carvery. Good amount of choice for children. Service was very good, all the staff very helpful and friendly. Nice relaxed atmosphere.
Nice friendly service.
Food was great, price to match. Service was slow, although the server was friendly.
Fantastic value for money 💰 Ruckshana our waitress was lovely 😊 really attentive I highly recommend a visit
Have tried for months to find a good place to eat in Ashton area whilst our daughter trains at Wright Robinson and this has been the best by far so we will be back again!
The food was wonderful and service good. We sat in the middle of the dining area and had a good view of the whole bar and restaurant!
The restaurant and bar are right next to each other and we went for a family lunch but could not speak to each other because of the noise from the bar where the Manchester United match was showing. This spoilt what we had hoped would be a relaxing family meal together
Really good value Sunday lunch. Nice selection of small portioned starters and desserts, which we found ideal with a large plate of the carvery
Only negative was how cold the bar and restaurant area was with the hotel door constantly opening
Food was good and the waitress
very pleasant and good at her job!
Lost the restaurant image! More like a
Sports bar! Might suit the the younger ones
but for me sorry when I go out for Sunday
lunch I don’t want to be watching football everywhere on the TVs! Would I go again maybe but only cos my husband is a gym
member and we get discount!
Service was incredibly slow. We ordered our food and it was at least 40 mins before it was served. No one asked if the food was ok. It was same with the desserts. I wanted another drink but waited that long that I gave up. The jalapeno mac and cheese was awful. It was bland and made with penne pasta not macaroni. It literally had 3 small slices of jalapeno on it.
We asked for the bill and I ended up going to the bar after waiting nearly 25 mins for her to come with a card machine. I told the manager at the bar that we'd been waiting ages to pay. No apology of anything. We only went there as I'd been given a voucher for my birthday that needed using up. In total we were there for nearly 2 hours. Would never eat in this restaurant again. Really poor service.
We often eat Sunday Lunch at a village hotel and thoroughly enjoy ourselves. However, this was the first and last time at the Ashton Village. We waited a long time before being served with drinks. When we went up for the carvery we were given one piece of meat! I don't expect to pay almost £15 for one piece of meat. We had to ask for the vegetables to be refilled and had to stand waiting for a while for this to happen. The roast potatoes tasted dreadful! We complained to our waitress who completely agreed that one piece of meat wasn't right. She went and got extra meat for us. Not what we should have to do. The ice cream machine wasn't working either so the children couldn't have their promised ice cream. Really feel we wasted our money and definitely won't be repeating it. As I said we've never had a problem at your other village hotels.
I would have given an even better review if the carvery food had been hot enough.
The sunday carvery is usually excellent and great value and choice. I am currently on crutches and didn't want to cause any further inconvenience for my husband by complaining.
Went for a birthday meal, the food was lovely, eat as much as you like, wide selection. Nice and clean, not too noisy, service was quick.
Would definitely go again.
Absolutely disgusting! I will never use Open table again. They took my booking for myself and my two daughters for Christmas Eve at 8pm, sent me a confirmation email and also emailed the night before on 23 December to confirm I would still be attending. The village hotel restaurant wasn’t even open Christmas Eve! Our whole evening was ruined. Never again will I book through them.
Came for Sunday Lunch and really enjoyed!
Great choice of starters and desserts and our main course was delicious and served with pride by your warm, welcoming staff😀
Will certainly recommend and return.
Went for a birthday meal. Service was excellent and food lovely. My only complaint is that there is a large TV showing sports. I think for the restaurant side of the bar this TV should be off. It was quite annoying that my husband was constantly checking out the TV rather than me. 😋
Very disappointed with the new refurbishment. The HUGE TV screen in the restaurant end is such a distraction, it’s impossible to talk without one eye on the screen and enjoy your meal. The moss is falling off the walls - who decided on that? We have family in Ashton and have always stayed at the Village as we travel from Surrey and always booked dinner on our first night in the restaurant. The beauty of the Village hotel before was that it catered for all tastes - those who wanted a quiet meal and those who wanted to party and drink in the bar. Such a shame. Not sure we’ll be back.
The grill was a little noisy as the boxing was on and the pub was very busy. We had the two course menu, the meals were outstanding, great value for money.
the restaurant was noisy and the food over priced (unless you do what we did and ask for the bar menu which was more reasonable). Not the place to go for a romantic or quiet family meal.
Service was good and it was clear the staff know its over priced.
Great as a place to go and have pub grub and watch the football - great atmosphere for that.
Food took a while to arrive, it was nice but I wouldn’t say mine was Hot, just warm.
The restaurant is on the other side of the bar area, so was quiet noisy. Waited at leat 10 minutes to get served at the bar prior to being seated in restaurant. Stood there whilst 2 staff chatted about opening a bottle of Prosecco and another person loaded the the glass wash 3 times!! Just rude really, if we didn’t have a reservation I’d have walked out.
At the end of our meal we were asked did we mind leaving as they needed to set up for breakfast?! Surely If we are still drinking at the table we should be allowed to stay especially as the bar was still busy with nowhere to sit.
Amazing value for a four course carvery, we ill be back again!
