Village Pub & Grill - Village Hotel Manchester Cheadle
Had a lovely family carvery meal to celebrate a birthday. We were very well looked after by attentive staff. The meat served on the carvery was beautiful and great choice of starters and desserts. Would highly recommend!
Greta value, lovely food and helpful staff. The restaurant is a nice place to sit also. High chair provided for my youngest.
A wonderful lunch. The carvery was perfect and the beef divine. The chef (Matt) couldn’t do enough for us. There was plenty of choice of food and all of it pipping hot. The rest of the staff were very attentive (especially Leah) and constantly asked us if everything was OK. It was truly a memorable meal and I can’t wait to go back.
Thanks to all at the Village Hotel.
The hotel and bar experience was really nice but wasn't impressed with the grill restaurant.
Menu was quite misleading in terms of the main courses, skewers didn't specify only one was meat and the other was veg... In addition the muscles for starter there was lots of empty shells so portion ended up being small instead of average. Fed back to the waiter in the night but nothing came of it.
Thank you for a wonderful meal. The staff were brilliant. The service was great and the atmosphere was spot on. Definitely will be going again. Well done.
Fantastic Sunday carvery, lovely staff. Well worth a visit, excellent value.
Minimal carved meat given which let it down however the selection of vegetables and the quality was great. No bread out for the pate for starters and no hot pudding options. Service ok and arrived at 2:55 and restaurant was not open nor ready. Overall ok
Went on a Sunday for the carvery. It’s not the cheapest but perfectly fine.
This was the second time we have visited here with our parents. The first was Mother’s Day and some of our party were late arriving. There are three sittings; 1pm, 3pm and 5pm. However, they are only 1 hour and 30mins long, so we did feel a rushed, but the staff were very accommodating about it and did let us take more time. The food was amazing and it’s excellent value for money (even more so because we received vouchers that included ‘Mums dine for free’ on the next occasion!).
For our second visit, we arrived early and got drinks at the bar, so we were right on time for our 5pm sitting. This made such a difference as you don’t feel as rushed. The food was delicious again and the staff were super friendly and helpful. They even gave us two big tables in a corner on our own, which meant our little girl could roam around a bit without disturbing other diners. The staff were great with her and even ‘let her help’ them, to entertain her!
We will definitely be going back for Father’s Day and again after that. The only thing I would say is that it would be even better if the sittings were two hours long. Easily done by bringing the first sitting forward by 30 minutes and putting the last sitting back by 30 minutes.
Hi excellent food and service
A great variety of food on offer. My partner and me had 2 starters, prawn cocktail together with a mezza. I had Turkey and ham. He had beef and ham. It was so tender. All the veg was amazing. The deserts didn't disappoint either I had a lemon desert and he had a cheesecake. All wonderful I just didn't have roon for more
Terrible. All the food was stone cold, looked like most of it was frozen and had been warmed up. Staff hovering around being a nuisance without a clue what they were doing. Tills went down had to wait ages to escape the place. Never again
I usually enjoy the village carvery but on this instance it was very disappointing considering it was more expensive. I do think the cold meat starters and the desserts should have been covered up considering it was such a hot day. You could tell the food had been out a while. Also we were not offered the fondue at the end. I did have to complain as they would not accept my leisure card and i did receive money off but think i will leave it a while before visiting again.
Hot food served on stone-cold platea! Not good.
Roast potatoes almost like mash.
Service not very professional.
We went last sunday 2 of us .starter ok carvery was cold staff dont care i asked if i could put it in the microwave to warm it up the young manager said why what's wrong very rudely took it away didnt microwave it put it under a grill i think
It wasnt very busy but tables were not cleared the couple sat near us had finished with their meal one of the waitress came over and said you finished that was it no did you enjoy it or was everything ok completely rude, you need some older people on there with a bit of customer service skills wont be going again.
Food was average. Meat was nice on carvery but the roast potatoes weren’t the best. Service wasn’t great, was ok. Kids meals were nice and good value. The restaurant was nice inside
The service was poor at best with inexperienced staff who didn’t know how to deliver good friendly service.
The carver and hot buffet food was tepid and cold by the time you sat down.
There was no ambience and as in previous visits the restaurant was cold.
Have been going to the carvery for a number of years and it has declined over the years and I won’t be returning. The meat was so dry and over cooked roast potatoes were mushy and the desserts were terrible. The five of us in our party were very dissatisfied was not what I expected from a village hotel.
Did not get the free glass of processco, nobody asked , the food was not very warm
1st time having Sunday lunch. Didn’t know whether it would be more manic on Mother’s Day but everything was great. Carvery good and service good.
Best village hotel we have stayed in.staff and food excellant as was room .
Went for a Sunday carvery meal, very nice meal, roast beef was superb - good value
The food was bland, the starters had all gone, the service was lacking and the beef had fat all through it. I complained when paying and the lady advised it ‘was getting better’ whilst charging me £54. They couldn’t have cared less.
Found the service to be efficient staff were friendly as always. The only negative I would give is.
It was cold in the restaurant we was sat right near the doors..
Had the Sunday carvery a few times now and never been disappointed, would always recommend this restaurant, fabulous food and good value for money.
Sunday carvery lovely! Though I was told beef was chewy. Good value... but a glass of wine £8 a little steep.
It was chilly though, glad we all had cardigans. Look forward to going again.
Service was not that good waited for a very long time nearly half an hour to request the bill, and then another half an hour to paying, had to go to the till in the end as there was nobody came to the table, had no apology or anything.
I have to say that the service on this occasion was very poor. We did not get offered a drink at all during our meal and nor were were offered the soup and the pudding which was ‘off-menu’.We were sat at our table for 15 minutes, nobody came over to ask what drinks or starters we wanted so we just helped ourselves to the starters which were already ready to eat and then the carvery. Luckily this wasn’t our first visit but if it was then I think it would have been our last! The food was lovely as usual but I would have liked to have had the offer of the soup and the dessert, and I don’t think that I should have had to ask for it.
Food was cold and vegetables were very over cooked, they made mistakes with the drinks order, took ages to clear away the dirty plates between courses. Not a great experience,as went to celebrate a birthday.
Would not recommend this place at all.
Very dark room, poorly lit.
Meat was good, however the vegetables were not kept hot enough for me. Service did not appear very efficient and we noticed other guests were incredibly slow to be seen to.
Mediocre at best - the burgers were good but the rice in one of the dishes was not fresh and full of lumps. Much better places to visit for a better price.
Food was cold, service was abysmal, lighting was too dark. Staff need further coaching and development on how to manage their customers expectations. Never again and would not recommend this place either. Go to the Pointing Dog for a couple of quid more.
Bad service at the bar, had to ask 4 different people for a forgotten drink, moved to the grill for a meal, freezing sat shivering, meal ok but unforgettable, very expensive for what it was especially the bbq pulled pork skewer, couldn't eat it, staff didn't know what a certain spirit was to go with coffee, all together a shame as could of been a lovely meal, especially as we was saying goodbye to family going to Oz for a few months
good, tasty food that had a little kick to it. Prices are on the high side but I got dinner included in the deal
The restaurant had no character/atmosphere. It was dark and quite depressing.
Despite the restaurant being quiet the service was very slow.
The evening food was lovely, but the waitresses stood around talking and weren’t very attentive. They forgot to take the order of the table next to us, and we felt that we were a hinderance to them, however, the conceige man who brought the food was very good... it seemed he was doing all their work for them.
Four course Sunday Lunch deal was very reasonable and tasty. Service and welcome was friendly and efficient, even if it wasn't too busy mid-afternoon. A buffet-style Starters course was novel and the Carvery was excellent. The desserts were fantastic and great to be able to have more than one, but could have been more choice. Altogether, everyone enjoyed their meal and would happily visit again.
Excellent value for the cost. Staff attentive initially & up to the main course but would have appreciated a reminder that hot puddings & custard could be requested if nothing on the cold dessert table thaf we fancied (its a help youself buffet which we were quite taken with). We were told on arrival but an hour and a half later, it had slipped our minds. Will certainly pay a return visit at some time.
Always a pleasure to go. Food is cooked to perfection, ambiance is great, never to loud or busy. Staff are helpful and polite. Decor is lovely. Enjoy it every time and would highly recommend for a carvery 😊
Excellent value Sunday carvery, lovely hotel and friendly staff.
