We went mid-week for my husband’s birthday, the service was amazing and the staff were both friendly and accommodating. It was quite busy as there was football on, unbeknown to myself; however, it wasn’t unpleasantly noisy and there was a nice atmosphere.

First time i had visited since the bar area has been changed, it feels very squashed in and the noise is too much, you cannot sit and have a good old catch up anymore, as its like sitting in a nightclub.

The service was very slow, the food took over 40mins to arrive, and there was no service check back to ask if we wanted anything else.

The price of the drinks have also gone up too, which i feel is a shame, but you lost out as we wanted to open a tab for drinks and desserts, but we didn't have a card to leave behind the bar (This is very old school) nowhere does this system - but I'm guessing you've saved money on the staff, so they cannot be watching if people walk out!

So we had 1 drink and a main course, so you loose out on money by running this daft old fashioned Tab facility.

We have had a few meals here but on this occasion it was very busy and the service at the bar took a very long time.
The food was nice but did not like eating my burger and fries off a wooden tray with wax paper underneath.
The burger was very tasty and good value when using our meerkat code.
There was a live football match on so the vibe was fun and exciting.

We waited 45 minutes for our food to be delivered as they had lost our order. Managed to get a free bottle of wine to compensate this. The food was lovely when it finally arrived and would book again.

Didn’t know what to expect reading the reviews we hadn’t been into the restaurant to see the new changes. The reviews mentioned the noise level whilst eating. We prefer the food set up being as it was before. The main starters are in a thorough fair which is in front of the main carvery it was at the side of the carvery before. We were told we had to wait for the starter plates to be cleared from our table before they brought our plate for the main meal but we didn’t like this idea. We asked for our main plates to be brought to our table before. This was because if we couldn’t get the attention of the waiter/waitress when busy then we’d have to wait. If you wanted soup it was self service and no problem with that however the soup you poured into a tin mug maybe that was for carrying purposes not sure and a lot of restaurants do this but it isn’t pleasant. There was no side plates on your table and you have to ask for one. The televisions were all on but they weren’t too loud and the tables were presented around the main bar area in the middle of room and if you were on the window side you had people standing right up to the bar in front of you a little more space would have been a little better. Food was fine. I warmed to the idea of the layout with respect to the trendy aspects of viewing area velvet seating in front of the large screen which was prior to the seating area in the restaurant. We really didn’t like people walking in in dressing gowns from the spa and able to sit down amongst people who were eating. Apart from the changes we weren’t happy with I would try and go again.

The food was ok , there was a lot of fish for starters. The carvery was good and a range of choice of vegetables also the puddings were good. The service wasn't great , had to wait a long time for the plates to arrive for the dinner after our starter had been cleaned up.

Admittedly booked not knowing that football was on, but to be honest I hadn't assumed the carvery was in a bar. It wouldn't have been so bad if the tvs hadn't been ridiculously loud. I could barely hear the bar staff at times. Managed to eat a starter, which was OK to be fair, but didn't make it onto the mains before we left with a refund.

Atmosphere ruined by the Tvs, I'm a football fan, but I would sooner be dusting off 10 pints watching the match than tucking into a plate of food. Need to make their mind up whether it's a bar or a carvery, doesn't really work as both.

Food nicely laid out, better than previous with the new sports bar.

Starters were a bit empty, little pots with salad, not much to them.
Mains were good, generous serving of meat and help yourself to veg. Pretty good.
Desserts, like the starters a bit basic, not much in the eton mess mostly cream. Ice cream machine a huge hit with the kids!

Atmosphere was not very warming and welcoming, it felt like we were interrupting their conversation. When asked to apply a voucher, she only took away one item and didn’t check what she was doing. When prompted about the error they didn’t seem very interested and concerned that they miss payed someone.

Great food in light and airy space! Just took a while for them to bring your plates after each course but they were very busy. Staff were all courteous though and our table was ready for the time booked.
Food was good and plenty of choice!

I must say I was not at all impressed with the whole experience. We were put into the 'quiet area' which was OK but it had no atmosphere at all. This was a joint Fathers day/ Birthday meal and not all of us wanted the carvery so we asked for the menu and we were told we couldn't have the menu as this was the carvery only room!! It was only after we disputed it that the manager told the waitress to fetch us menu's. The set up of food in that room compared to the main room was dismal with very little food on show. When we went to pay the bill I had to go back and query it as it seemed too much and we had been overcharged by 2 carvery's. This was rectified but the whole experience was not nice at all. If you want any atmosphere go into the main bar & Grill.

Very noisy, kitchen door gave us a heart attack every time it slammed shut. Waitresses all over the place not doing much, chatting acting like they were at home. Food was good so I would go back but would complain if I had the same experience with the noise and the waitresses.

Friendly helpful staff. Pleasant surroundings. Good selections on starters and desserts. Fresh vegetables and tasty meats on carvery. Bonus was children were free. Main course food wasn’t quite as hot as I like it but I ate every bit! We all enjoyed it best carvery I’ve had for a long time. Will definitely be going back.
Thank you.

Came here for the first time on a Saturday evening. Not enough staff at the bar, waited for 15 minutes to be served as service so slow.
Ended up ordering food on the app as got fed up waiting.
Appreciate not staff fault if short but was not an overall good experience.
Food wasn’t particular cheap & food was average.
Wouldn’t go again.

Eat here Sat 18th MAY. We were very disappointed both at the choices on the menu and the service. If there is an ala carte menu we were never shown one! The food was quite poor. We requested no salad dressing for my husbands meal but it arrived with no salad at all, I think the staff member at the bar could simply not hear me above the noise in the bar from the screens etc! One staff member asked what sauces we would like with our meal {before it had arrived!} but never came back with requested sauces. We feel The Village needs to identify if it wants to run a restaurant or a sports bar?

Very disappointed in the whole experience, the venue was nice but the large screens with over loud football and also loud music playing at the same time meant you could hardly hear what was being said to each other and spoiled the atmosphere, waiting staff were polite but the lady from the bar was bordering on rude. The menu looked really good but was expensive, when the food arrived we were very disappointed with the amount of food and the quality considering the price. My peri chicken burger was barely warm, the chicken was dry and overcooked on the ends and I would have gotten better fries at Macdonald's. This was not the experience we were expecting from the advertisment for the new pub and grill, very disappointed.

Although the food was yummy , for the prices I would expect table service not ordering at the bar .. ( it's not a weatherspoons) £30 for plain steak and chips is what you pay in a restaurant with table service, The staff were fun and smiley...

The food was very good, the service and friendliness of the staff was extremely good, the only thing I would suggest if you are looking to dine fairly quietly, then when booking a table avoid football match times at weekends as the noise level can be quite high.

No table service in the dining area, either have to order from the app (which requires upfront payment) or wait at the bar (for quite some time) to be served. Food was nice, however steak was very under cooked (rare despite my request for it to be medium). This was disappointing when paying £30 for a fillet steak. We set up a bar tab, which required me to leave my card in a secure device which we were given the key for. Despite this we still ended up with someone else's drinks on our tab. Good job we reviewed and queried it before paying. Menu confusing, the same item appears with 2 different prices when queried why we were charged the higher price. We went for a quiet meal but the new design of the bar & grill is very open plan with quite a lively /noisy sports theme, which is fine if that's what you're looking for. We were ignored at the bar for quite some time whilst staff were busy filling paperwork in, which came across very rude.
