Its a real shame that Village no longer participate in the meerkat meals, 2 for 1. This may be the reason the restaurant was so quiet, compared to my experience there a few weeks ago when it had a nice buzz about the place. The food was luke warm, quite disappointing really.

Sorry but Sunday Lunch was not a great experience. The menu was very limited - beef or turkey served as one dish. Was expecting a carvery. Wines were overpriced. Very noisy atmosphere. There seems to be an attitude that loud music is necessary so one has to talk above it. Background music is always useful.
Not really a Sunday Lunch venue for older folk but maybe younger folk find it acceptable.
Staff were attentive and helpful but ordering system unnecessarily complicated.

I booked the table after a recommendation from a friend. We were coming for the unlimited Sunday lunch. I checked before booking on the online menu, and it showed it was still available. We turned up, and as we were seated we were told that they no longer do the unlimited Sunday lunch. We were handed the menu....and again it is still advertised as an available option. The only meats on option were beef and turkey! No lamb.....no pork/gammon! We were told that the meal would come plated. The whole point is we wanted to be able to have choice and options for our Sunday lunch!
Bitterly disappointed with the false advertising, lack of choice and the attitude of staff that wouldn’t accommodate our requests. Needless to say we left without ordering, and shall inform friends of the “unpublished changes to the menu”
Also amused that the pricing hasn’t changed, still charged the same even though it’s no longer unlimited!
I look forward to hearing from you!!!!

Very busy, and a bit noisy, but food excellent. Doubt we would have paid the full price, had a 2 for 1 on main meals. A bit on the expensive side for ma pub meal.

I was sorry to find out when we got there that it was no longer a carvery. Just not quite as I imagined and we had to keep asking what to do as no one really told us.

Drinks over priced . We had booked a table we were given a very rushed welcome we had not eaten there before so didnt know the routine . It took us ages to pkace our food order at the bar . We had sunday lunch it was not made clear that we could help ourselves to starters . There were 3 of us cuttlery was only laid for 2 we had to ask for the other one . When the came it was luke warm at best , the roast potatoes were only just warm and were chewy as if they had been kept warm from the day before as was the yorkshire with stuffing and pigs blanket the turkey was nearly cold and dry . No one came to ask if our meals were ok untill they came to clear the plates when we had finished .
At £15 a head our overall opinion was really poor and we wont be coming back or recommending anyone to come either

Classed as a "roast" they are not doing the Sunday carvery now but there is a buffet starter and sweet course and they serve the main on a wood block, thank goodness for the soup that was tasty and hot with bread, what ever else was non describable same with the sweets, there was chocolate croissants, smoothie drinks and small glasses with granola and yogurt in all could have been left over from breakfast, the turkey and Yorkshire pudding was fine everything else was more or less raw I had four brussel sprouts on my block and my knife couldn't cut through any of them and the same with the three "roast " potatoes on the block, the gravy is brought in a jug which them floats on the block after being poured on,
We would definitely not return or recommend this venue for a Sunday lunch, this is a bad move for the village as it used to be so nice

Great food but why so many TV screens? Not everyone wants to watch sports, and there's no place in the restaurant to get away from it. Table service was good but bar service was poor. Food was tasty with some imaginative twists, and value for money for a hotel restaurant. Just a shame the noise levels were so high and TVs so dominating.

We were disappointed with our 2 nd visit. The table was right next to a storeroom so staff in and out. Not enough room for people squeezing through between adjoining table had to keep moving my chair. Food was only lukewarm.

Really like the new design and lay out of the restaurant.
However, the standards have fallen dramatically on the service and quality of the food.
The buffet style system just doesn’t work. Metal canisters hold the cooked food so everything has a damp feel to it. No crispy roasties or Yorkshire puddings.
Also the Staff just didn’t seem to know what they were supposed to be doing.
So disappointing as the restaurant and food before couldn’t be faulted.

We went mid-week for my husband’s birthday, the service was amazing and the staff were both friendly and accommodating. It was quite busy as there was football on, unbeknown to myself; however, it wasn’t unpleasantly noisy and there was a nice atmosphere.

First time i had visited since the bar area has been changed, it feels very squashed in and the noise is too much, you cannot sit and have a good old catch up anymore, as its like sitting in a nightclub.

The service was very slow, the food took over 40mins to arrive, and there was no service check back to ask if we wanted anything else.

The price of the drinks have also gone up too, which i feel is a shame, but you lost out as we wanted to open a tab for drinks and desserts, but we didn't have a card to leave behind the bar (This is very old school) nowhere does this system - but I'm guessing you've saved money on the staff, so they cannot be watching if people walk out!

So we had 1 drink and a main course, so you loose out on money by running this daft old fashioned Tab facility.

We have had a few meals here but on this occasion it was very busy and the service at the bar took a very long time.
The food was nice but did not like eating my burger and fries off a wooden tray with wax paper underneath.
The burger was very tasty and good value when using our meerkat code.
There was a live football match on so the vibe was fun and exciting.

We waited 45 minutes for our food to be delivered as they had lost our order. Managed to get a free bottle of wine to compensate this. The food was lovely when it finally arrived and would book again.

Didn’t know what to expect reading the reviews we hadn’t been into the restaurant to see the new changes. The reviews mentioned the noise level whilst eating. We prefer the food set up being as it was before. The main starters are in a thorough fair which is in front of the main carvery it was at the side of the carvery before. We were told we had to wait for the starter plates to be cleared from our table before they brought our plate for the main meal but we didn’t like this idea. We asked for our main plates to be brought to our table before. This was because if we couldn’t get the attention of the waiter/waitress when busy then we’d have to wait. If you wanted soup it was self service and no problem with that however the soup you poured into a tin mug maybe that was for carrying purposes not sure and a lot of restaurants do this but it isn’t pleasant. There was no side plates on your table and you have to ask for one. The televisions were all on but they weren’t too loud and the tables were presented around the main bar area in the middle of room and if you were on the window side you had people standing right up to the bar in front of you a little more space would have been a little better. Food was fine. I warmed to the idea of the layout with respect to the trendy aspects of viewing area velvet seating in front of the large screen which was prior to the seating area in the restaurant. We really didn’t like people walking in in dressing gowns from the spa and able to sit down amongst people who were eating. Apart from the changes we weren’t happy with I would try and go again.

The food was ok , there was a lot of fish for starters. The carvery was good and a range of choice of vegetables also the puddings were good. The service wasn't great , had to wait a long time for the plates to arrive for the dinner after our starter had been cleaned up.

Admittedly booked not knowing that football was on, but to be honest I hadn't assumed the carvery was in a bar. It wouldn't have been so bad if the tvs hadn't been ridiculously loud. I could barely hear the bar staff at times. Managed to eat a starter, which was OK to be fair, but didn't make it onto the mains before we left with a refund.

Atmosphere ruined by the Tvs, I'm a football fan, but I would sooner be dusting off 10 pints watching the match than tucking into a plate of food. Need to make their mind up whether it's a bar or a carvery, doesn't really work as both.

Food nicely laid out, better than previous with the new sports bar.

Starters were a bit empty, little pots with salad, not much to them.
Mains were good, generous serving of meat and help yourself to veg. Pretty good.
Desserts, like the starters a bit basic, not much in the eton mess mostly cream. Ice cream machine a huge hit with the kids!

Atmosphere was not very warming and welcoming, it felt like we were interrupting their conversation. When asked to apply a voucher, she only took away one item and didn’t check what she was doing. When prompted about the error they didn’t seem very interested and concerned that they miss payed someone.

I must say I was not at all impressed with the whole experience. We were put into the 'quiet area' which was OK but it had no atmosphere at all. This was a joint Fathers day/ Birthday meal and not all of us wanted the carvery so we asked for the menu and we were told we couldn't have the menu as this was the carvery only room!! It was only after we disputed it that the manager told the waitress to fetch us menu's. The set up of food in that room compared to the main room was dismal with very little food on show. When we went to pay the bill I had to go back and query it as it seemed too much and we had been overcharged by 2 carvery's. This was rectified but the whole experience was not nice at all. If you want any atmosphere go into the main bar & Grill.

Very noisy, kitchen door gave us a heart attack every time it slammed shut. Waitresses all over the place not doing much, chatting acting like they were at home. Food was good so I would go back but would complain if I had the same experience with the noise and the waitresses.

Friendly helpful staff. Pleasant surroundings. Good selections on starters and desserts. Fresh vegetables and tasty meats on carvery. Bonus was children were free. Main course food wasn’t quite as hot as I like it but I ate every bit! We all enjoyed it best carvery I’ve had for a long time. Will definitely be going back.

Came here for the first time on a Saturday evening. Not enough staff at the bar, waited for 15 minutes to be served as service so slow.
Ended up ordering food on the app as got fed up waiting.
Appreciate not staff fault if short but was not an overall good experience.
Food wasn’t particular cheap & food was average.
Wouldn’t go again.

Eat here Sat 18th MAY. We were very disappointed both at the choices on the menu and the service. If there is an ala carte menu we were never shown one! The food was quite poor. We requested no salad dressing for my husbands meal but it arrived with no salad at all, I think the staff member at the bar could simply not hear me above the noise in the bar from the screens etc! One staff member asked what sauces we would like with our meal {before it had arrived!} but never came back with requested sauces. We feel The Village needs to identify if it wants to run a restaurant or a sports bar?
