It was very noisy in there but there was a good atmosphere. Fine if you like a lot of hustle and bustle.
The mains arrived before the starter so they had to go back. After the starter we waited around 40 minutes for the mains which when they eventually arrived were the original meals that were brought out as they were luke warm at best. So we waited another 20 minutes for a fresh lot and when that came, 1 order was still incorrect but we just ate it as we were starving !
Lovely Sunday lunch plenty of choice on all courses thoroughly enjoyed it. Good service throughout
Booked a table for 4pm. A lot of the starters and deserts had ran out. The ones that were there seemed warm as if they had been sitting there a while. Ice cream machine needed filling up so had to wait a while for that. Actual carvery was ok, apart from the meat a little dry. Have been before at 1-2pm and was much nicer.
The food was very average and very overpriced, the burger I ordered was £16 and it was very dry, the chips weren't cooked enough and I couldn't finish the meal. My boyfriend had the same burger and his was also VERY dry. For a £16 burger I wouldn't expect this. The starters we had were ok however the nacho's came with cheese sauce on which it didn't say in the description it just said "melted cheese" (which it definitely wasn't), there was loads of sauce and it was very sickly. Would not of ordered this if I knew before, overall, the restaurant is nice in terms of appearance but the food is very average, there are much nicer places to eat in Solihull for cheaper.
Been 3 times now to the carvery on a Sunday this time Fathers Day. Great service, great choice of starters and desserts and the carvery itself was fresh and hot. Will definitely be going back
We have been here previously but this time was the best experience yet.
We were welcomed but a very friendly young man who took a photo of myself and family and then showed us to our table.
All the staff were so attentive and the food excellent. The only suggestion I have is that the soup needs to be separate from the gravy as this caused confusion and unnecessary queuing.
Fantastic service from start to finish!
Food very good value good choice.unfortunatly the ambience was very poor football game on tv very noisy not relaxing atmosphere at all..disappointing lunch date
We really enjoyed our meal and the lady who waited on us was terrific. Would have preferred chunky chips to the skinny ones.
Nice food, friendly staff, nice atmosphere. Solihull is so much better than the experience we had at Dudley which was awful. The only thing I disliked about our visit this time is that we were seated on the high chairs which are not relaxing at all. This was despite me requesting low seating when I made the booking.
Really noisy in there. Surrounded by football fans watching game. Couldn’t beat ourselves to talk. Staff seemed understaffed. Food was nice thank goodness
Great service. This was our first visit and the food was superb! Proper mash potatoe was a bonus. The staff were very helpful as my husband is vegetarian. We will be back.
Very noisy environment, Sport being shown on all the large screens, all over the room, showing live football, with energetic an noisy fans enjoying the sport, Cheering, Jeering and expressing their feelings. Fans were mixed in with the diners, or on the next table to the diners, spoiling a quiet Sunday lunch / Carvery that we were having with the family.
Food was below average, Not Hot, it was Warm at best and dried out, Beef was under cooked, Gammon was over cooked and unable to be carved in a slice, Turkey was Dry. Veg had been out for a long time.
Soup was not labelled at all, so guess the flavour, and was luke warm.
Starters were incorrectly labelled or not labelled at al, plenty of portions available (30 or 40) for a small number of Guests (20 at most)
It used to be a delight to go there for lunch, Not now, so i won't be returning and I will defiantly will not be recommending it to friends and family
Lovely food. Only down fall was the football being loud while trying to eat. Sounded like a pub.
Had Sunday carvery. Meat was good, veg poor-They tasted & appeared as have been cooked & in serving trays for long time. Staff were pleasant & efficient, explaining about carvery & checked several times with us meal.
Mothers day meal for myself and my mom and family, very disappointed with the standard of food, terrible.
We had stopped going for the Sunday Carvery as the room had changed into a Sports Bar. We were pleasantly surprised with the service, attention and the food was really delicious.
The 4 giant TVs at the bar were off, there was 1 on at the far end of the room.
The music needs improving or needs to be off.
Food was nice however the place was very noisy from the bar in front of the restaurant. For someone with a walking impairment, it was a bit of a walk to the lavatory. After we’d eaten and the table was cleared, we had to find a member of staff to pay the bill so we could leave.
Great for a drinking outing with food, but not families
Unfortunately due to the local derby football game the carvery was moved into another room. As it was not in the normal settings all the hot food was cold. This was reported to the staff and the bill was discounted.
Food was amazing and great value. A good selection of dishes to suit everyone. The only think I would mention as a negative is the lady behind the bar was throwing empty glass bottles into the glass bin every few minutes which made you jump and feel a little on edge whilst eating.
Our waitress was professional, helpful and friendly. A great evening.
Food was delicious. Enjoyed our food. The device was good. Even accommodated for two extra.
We were so looking forward to this meal at the Village but it happened to be Super Sunday for Sport and the Sunday lunch is served in the same room as 3 screens showing sport and the noise level from the football was horrendous. Our chairs from the table had been taken by a couple of lads who were watching the screens right next us and the waitress couldn’t hear our drinks order and had to lean over us to take it. We couldn’t take it more than 5 minutes and we spoke to the waitress at the bar and said why is the sport on in this room when there is a sports bar across the lobby that was closed and empty and she said this is how ‘they’ want it now. We explained we can’t hear ourselves think or speak and she said she couldn’t do anything about it so we left. It was really disappointing as we have heard good things about the Sunday lunch but we obviously picked the wrong day or did we, as the waitress said this is how it is now so this is the norm. I would like to try it again but we will have to pick our day very carefully.
No directions of where Sunday lunch was held.
Beef was extremley rare.
Mash potatoe was dry (previous visit was watery)
Bread did not taste fresh.
Carrots were cold.
Vegetarian option was only Nut Roast....
Cheesecake base was original (unlike other cheesecake bases)
The Chef could be a bit more welcoming! Or display a sign to let mew customers know the chef will serve the meat & yorkshire pudding.
Beer was nice.
New room decore is nice.
Nice atmosphere, staff extremely helpful. Wide range of starters and deserts and a nice carvery. Lots of meat but there was very little choice on the veg front which would be my only criticism.
Really great night I got engaged to my partner unexpectedly the staff look after us service was excellent
made the night a memorable one
Disappointing. Nowhere to book in on arrival - confusing when had booked table. Things constantly missing from starters table. Vegetables tasteless for carvery. Wrong bill bought to table. Football noise from tv screens made Sunday carvery experience not enjoyable. Staff very obliging though.
Spent a Saturday evening here with my sister. The service was great and the waitress was extremely friendly. Ordered the village burger which was amazing, along with the rustic chips. I also ordered a side of jalapeño Mac and cheese but it really wasn’t to my taste as it didn’t have much cheese in and was fairly dry, so I would not order it again. Overall though, it was a lovely experience and i’ll Definitely be going back!
We enjoyed the set 2 course menu. Both had delicious tacos to start. Served in the bambo steamer . They were amazing . I had the lentil & sweet potato curry . Came with mini popodoms and dips . Very tasty . My daughter ordered the chicken skewers . She was served one long skewer of chicken & another of beautiful vegetables, mushroom, onion , peppers & courgette. Served with wedges and tasty dip. Also ordered two children’s meals which were perfect two. Friendly staff and good service. We will definitely return .
This is not the kind of place you go for a special occasion! It’s essentially a poor effort at creating a formal area in a sports bar. Positives - the food was presented well, the menu had a good variety of dishes and the staff were efficient and friendly. Negatives - food was bland and overpriced and felt like we were eating at the back of a college common room! Not the restaurant that it appears on the website!
Very busy noisy place to eat not the place to be for a quiet date
Excellent Sunday carvery nice to see the gravy has improved. Also a naive change to have lamb on the menu. Excellent value for money and quality
A great place to go to. Beautiful rooms beautiful building and lots to do leisure and activities etc.
Carvery, tasteless, barely even warm, never mind hot food. Not much Choice of starters, or puddings . Staff were friendly enough
Alcoholic drinks over priced....no drinks menu on tables and restaurant setting too open and basic. Would have preferred a more intimate setting.
Breakfast lovely but had to ask 3 times for hot water jug ...
Excellent meat and lots of it . No complaints at all except black chairs and table cloths are a bit dull . Didn’t eat those though so it was very good .
Food was disappointing as we’ve been before and was so much better, there was a very small amount of veg to choose from as it needed replenishing and dessert was an apple crumble unfortunately it tasted more like apple sauce which should of been served with custard but by the time that arrived the crumble was cold. We was also sat next to the bar and there was the England and Croatia match playing so was very noisy and rowdy.
The website stated a four course meal for the Sunday lunch. A starter, dinner and dessert was three courses. The staff although very pleasant had obviously not been briefed on what the fourth course was. Apparently there are two starters! The food was nice, as we have always found it at the Village Hotels. Screaming kids didn't help the ambience though.
We did not eat. We left as menu was for a noisy sports bar. Not for a restaurant
Really good love the new layout.
Just one thing the gravy on the carvery was a bit thin and watery! But could not fault the meats and everything else. Will be back
Good food at a very good price , been going there for along time never been disappointed .
