With a warm welcome we aim to create a place where locals and visitors to Kenilworth can enjoy delicious food, a great selection of drinks and fantastic service.
Our chefs create our menus using fresh ingredients sourced from local suppliers and prepared in our kitchen on a daily basis. We are famous for serving an incredible selection of traditional and classic pub dishes along with a great selection of vegan and vegetarian alternatives. Our Sunday roast is a highlight in the week and our exciting desserts and fantastic wine menu will leave you spoilt for choice.
With a great range of beers, ales and spirits as well as our temperance bar of non-alcoholic drinks we have four cosy snugs where you can enjoy a quiet drink. Our restaurant where you can enjoy a meal, book our private dining room were you can celebrate an occasion, or relax outside in our beer garden.

Lunch was tasty and fresh, especially the home made soup and great coffee / water all day - great value for money and friendly comfortable surroundings . I have recommended to others too for when you re-open thankyou .
Third visit since new management took over. Food is always excellent imaginative and tasty. Good value. Pub grub with an extra sparkle.
Breakfast treat for myself and a friend. Greek yoghurt, berries and Granola were lovely as was the bacon muffin. Rounded it all off with some mini pastries. All freshly prepared and delicious.

Great vegan options. I liked their environmental credentials, for example they didn't sell bottled water.

A thoroughly enjoyable visit. Excellent service. Fish and chips perfectly cooked and perfect portion size. Wish we could say 'we'll be back soon' but will return to this wonderful community pub after lockdown.

Been here a couple of times now it has changed hands and the food has very much improved along with the service which i can only describe as attentive. The ale's are very well kept and worth a visit

I had a really productive day at my pub desk. The lunch menu was lovely (I had the beer battered fish finger sandwich) and the coffee and tea were lovely. I will be making this a semi-regular thing!

I booked a pub desk for an alternative place to work remotely. This was a great experience, as the staff stopped by regularly with a fresh pot of tea and the atmosphere was pleasant and quiet.

It was our first time and was pretty good! One of us is a vegetarian, so we were very pleased to see more than a couple of choices for veggies on the menu! Another aspect that pleased us was the choice of wine that's on offer, at VERY reasonable prices!!!

Booking was easy first time eating since new owners we had vegetable wellingtons and roast beef both were really good great vegetarian welly thought gone into it only comment is could have done with a bigger portion, had 3 puddings all homemade will go again

If you’re looking for somewhere for Sunday Lunch I can highly recommend The Virgins. Portion sizes are exceptional value and we were offered more roasties and gravy. Lovely, attentive staff - I wouldn’t go anywhere else.

We went for drinks only and stayed for a meal. Social Distancing was excellent, we felt safe. We only went in for drinks, but felt so comfortable we asked to to stay for a meal (which they happily accommodated). My wife had the fishcake with salsa and I had the burger. Both were excellent and we managed to fit in puddings. The Eton Mess being highly recommended. I also have to say that we felt it was excellent value for money. We used to have table service in The Oak in Earlsdon way before this pandemic; why has it taken a pandemic for pubs to adopt table service - its a great way (in my humble opinion) of making sure your customers are always have a drink.

Went for the first pub quiz, after a lockdown of Tuesday night quizzes privided by the V and C. A good night, enjoyed my board of meats! A great venue, with great staff.

Delicious Monday burger menu and even better that it was 50% off. Rocky Road tart special was amazing, had to be talked into having it as not so keen on pastry but it was deconstructed and just shards of delicious pastry. Cheesecake amazing too.... Perfect evening.

Excellent service, courteous, polite and attentive but I felt the food had the opportunity to be more adventurous and innovative, but this may be down to Covid?

We've tried to create a traditional, pub menu with great pub classics prepared in our kitchen using fresh, locally sourced ingredients and that's what we're becoming known for. We do have days where we let our chefs loose, so on Mondays we create a special burger menu with six different burgers to choose from and starter courses like Yakinuku Chicken Wings and desserts like deconstructed Rocky Road
Good quality basic menu. No fish and chips the night we were there which was rather a surprise. {Previous visitors - N.B. The menu has changed now it has changed hands. No more Filipino dishes.
This is still a great place to visit, with excellent service. Good social distancing.

Lovely local pub in the heart of old Kenilworth. The staff are so friendly with a warm atmosphere with great ales. Perfect place to meet with family and friendly as not too noisy.

Has a good vibe even with reduced customer levels .comfortable ambience and we'll looked after by staff. Limited menu but food is good quality and fair value .still one of the best places in kenilworth to go out and have a relaxing evening.

Lovely Sunday roast and super impressed when they came round and offered extra Yorkies and roasties! Yum! Nice wine. Chocolate brownie was superb! Staff were new and young but extremely approachable and knowledgable. Joked with our kids and interacted well with us! Must have been trained well! Another great trip.

The last day of our staycation holiday was spent having a Sunday beef roast at the Virgins and Castle accompanied by a bottle of primitivo red wine. The service was as always excellent and we were offered an additional Yorkshire pudding and roast potatoes just as we found ourselves halfway through our delicious meals...we were struggling because we had opted for a very flavoursome spiced parsnip soup to start and accompanied by a warm crusty bread roll we had started to fill.....but we just simply couldn’t say no!! We will be back!

Even in these strange times eating out at the Virgins and Castle is an experience not to be missed. The menu, although shorter at the moment than before, has a wide range of choice, and the desert option of a drink and a mini pud is spot on in terms of size.
Yes, I have down marked the noise factor, but that's because most of the tables are in small side "rooms" with two tables in each, and it depends upon the other party as to the noise. I just used it as an excuse to sit closer to my date :)
This is definitely somewhere to save as a favourite for a return visit.
