As always great food and service. We sat in the rear garden which is quiet tranquil and a perfect setting. Keep up the good work all at the ZB& C
Normally very good but food average last night, the beetroot salad was really just leaves with a slice or two of beetroot with very little else, really disappointing. The previous month I had the fish case which was delicious, I do generally love it here since it's change of ownership it's much better
Received a snidy remark from the waitress as well, yes I heard you.
Hopefully next time it's better.
This is my favourite place to go as it is relaxing, the food is great and the staff are friendly and helpful, love it ☺️
Fantastic food and lovely setting. We will be back!
Lovely food and great service- will be back soon for sure!
Thank you for the great service, lovely food, and care with the allergies I have appreciated.....
Staff are great matched by their food and drink. Home from home xx
Really friendly staff, offered to move us to an outside table (the weather was great so we accepted).
Prompt service, lovely beers and an excellent roast dinner (we went for the whole chicken between 2).
Definitely a return visit on the cards and would recommend to anyone.
Friendly staff, tasty food and good service. Pub very well run in a COVID secure way
Excellent Food ruined by really poor service from waitresses, ignored and slow
Really lovely pub, the oldest in Kenilworth. Staff were friendly enough when you got their attention, but a lot of the time we felt invisible, from check in to leaving. We had to wait a while to be seated, even though we had booked, and it seemed as if the staff had specific allocated tasks ie.one was doing drinks, one was doing food, and ‘never the Twain shall meet’. They couldn’t deal with anything outside of their remit ie.the girl doing drinks couldn’t help us with our food order, even though they all had iPads for taking the orders.
We had an issue with our meal, the vegetables were all hard, twice we asked for replacement ones, softer ones, but we were ignored both times. The rest of the food (we did the Sunday lunch menu) was delicious, but we felt disappointed overall.
Very good meal. Service good...a very pleasant waitress. Long gap before desserts arrived...2 of our party were having coffee instead and this arrived a lot earlier.
This was our first visit since lockdown, and we had booked a table inside.
When we arrived, we were greeted by a friendly and enthusiastic staff member, who said he would get someone to bring menus. 20 minutes later we still hadn’t had any menus or had someone come to take drinks orders. There were a few other tables occupied but it didn’t seem too busy for an early evening. Once we had our drinks order taken, it was around 10 minutes later that we got menus. Once we had given our food order it didn’t take too long. However, another drink ordered didn’t materialise and we had to chase the waiting staff for this. We mentioned that the service was slow and he apologised and explained that they were training three members of staff. When our food arrived it was fine, but unfortunately the service ruined our experience. We probably won’t be returning any time soon.
Nice venue and staff on the door Extremely welcoming. Food was below average to be honest and disappointing. Burger was okay at best with a few chips, thai curry was very watery and the rice was dry and had been cooked a while ago. Nice pub for a drink but nothing further.
Met here for our book club meeting... Lovely staff, service and food. Thakyou!
The table was booked for 20:30 and we arrived on time but were rushed to order as the kitchen was closing. Food was nice apart from the pork schnitzel which was over cooked and really tough. The onion rings were awesome though. The outside area, where we sat as we went with our dogs, was nice although only partially covered so we got wet when it started to rain.
Another great meal - plenty of space around the tables so felt covid safe. Friendly staff and efficient service.
Sat in the garden, which was very quiet (only 2 other tables occupied)
My first visit since the venue changed hands and my companion's first visit ever. We were not disappointed. We sat in the courtyard at the back, perfect for a Spring Day. As gin drinkers, we were both intrigued by the gin created by the owners / staff during lockdown, and we both sampled it. A lovely G and T which I would recommend. We both ordered the club sandwich with chips and shared a portion of the onion rings. Delicious food, but a big portion - I couldn't finish mine. Service is a little slow, but I think that this is because everything is cooked to order. Not a place to visit if you're in a rush, but definitely worth a visit if you can sit back, relax and enjoy, as we did. We'll definitely be back!
Awesome as always. Staff polite and dressed smartly. Always attentive.
Good wonderful and brought to you in a timely manner.
Lovely place , friendly people and great food. They're own gin is pretty spectacular too!!!
Great service, always checking back to make sure we have what we need.
This is the first time that we have visited the Virgins & Castle for five years and it turned out to be a real treat. The food was extremely good, very nice to had proper roast potatoes too instead of the standard oven cooked dried roast these were nice an crispy. It was also nice to be offered more potato and yorkshire pudding too, however we decided it was better to wait and try the desert menu which again didn't disappoint. We'll definitely be back soon. Service was excellent too.
Fantastic brunch, great service & dog friendly
We were told when ordering that things had run out each time we asked for them. Then 45 minutes after we ordered were told something we ordered had also run out. Finally got our food one and half hours after we arrived. Not a good impression for our friends who were visiting from down south.
Promised so much but delivered nothing
Waited almost 2 hours for food.
Asked for bread and oil to fill the long wait and it never came.
Hen do next to us making a lot of noise, why would we want to sit there?!
My gf is 35 weeks pregnant and shouldn’t eat late and the delay mean she had to eat at 9:30 and had the worst night sleep because of it.
Fantastic as always! Great food, service and atmosphere.
Had a table booked outside but when we arrived all the outside tables were taken so we had to sit inside. It also took a long time for our food to arrive.
Food was mixed, some lovely, some ok. Nothing was bad though.
Very good vege options and dogs welcome would def recommend
We did have to wait nearly 45 mins for our lunch to arrive! It was really nice food. But then unfortunately the waitress spilt a whole pint of cider over and into my handbag! All over the floor, which splashed up my jeans and all over my boots! They were mortified and did bring cloths and tissues to help me mop everything up. They cleaned the floor too. When I went to finish my dinner it was cold, which was a shame! Kindly they said there would be no charge for anything but we did pay a large portion of Bill because we felt that it was an accident and they’ve been through so much during Covid that we couldn’t walk out without paying! They were very apologetic about everything. Unfortunately I have had to spend ages this morning washing my handbag inside and out again along with all the contents! Cider is very sticky and gets everywhere apparently!
We will return for another meal but I will keep my handbag out of the way!
I thought that the Virgins had undergone some transformation when it changed hands but was disappointed to find that all that looked different was that the wooden panels had been painted blue. The menu choice was quite limited. I went for a beef sandwich, but the meat was too thick and therefore a bit dry on a sandwich. My husband had a fish platter which he enjoyed.
Overall quite a let down
We sat outside and it was comfortable, well spaced and good ambience
Fantastic food, cooked to perfection. Friendly service :)
Lovely breakfast in the garden after a walk in Abbey Fields. Friendly staff and the bacon is delicious.
First visit and a lovely historic pub but would not eat here again, as didn't really enjoy thd food and know we could have had much better for a similar price elsewhere. Our server however was lovely. Also it was very chilly in there.
Perfect, I was there to use a work desk for the day. The staff were great, as was the food and drink! I will definitely be back :)
Food wise - seemed quite expensive for what we had and all of it was quite greasy
Also, no condiments or salt and pepper were offered, we had to ask and they had run out of ketchup!
Service was very slow and we had to go and find someone to get the bill.
We were seated inside and was freezing by the end of the meal.
Introduced the in laws to the virgin and after a previous excellent experience. It didn’t disappoint.
Another fabulous Sunday meal at The Virgins. Staff were lovely and food delicious. Tried their own gin which was excellent. We will be back!
