Water Lane is a restaurant based within a working market garden in the High Weald of Kent. Guided by the seasons, our menu reflects its sense of place in the English countryside where we grow our own vegetables and use local suppliers. Our ever changing menu is simple but prepared with imagination and care by our Head Chef Jed Wrobel and his team.

Our restaurant is currently situated in our Carnation House glasshouse, and is open for light weekday breakfast, weekend brunch plus lunch alongside an all-day coffee, tea and cake menu. We are licensed to serve alcohol at lunchtime. We advise customers to book to avoid disappointment. Dogs are welcome on a leash outside but not inside the restaurant.

The Christmas Market Feast £37.50 per head. The feast will take place as one sitting in our Carnation House restaurant. Arrival from 12.30pm for a welcome drink. Lunch will be served family style at 1pm with sharing plates served along a communal table. Please advise us of any dietary requirements at the time of booking. Please note the total pre-pay price includes a 12.5% service charge. The vegetarian risotto wasn’t great at all (strange tasting risotto which was then totally overwhelmed by the blue cheese on top) but the fish and the meat pie mains were lovely. The options for children were limited and the overall cost was very expensive. The service was very friendly and efficient and the ambience was pleasant. Definitely more somewhere we’d go as a couple rather than with the whole family next time.

On a cold, very wet lunchtime it was disappointing to be dripped on. The food tasted excellent but, considering how few people were there , we had to wait longer than expected for our meal to arrive. Disappointed with “the greens” (just a bowl of leaves) when eating a hot meal.

Really lovely food, but the courses came out too fast. Our 'while you wait' dishes came out with the starters and there wasn't much breathing space before our main course was on the table. It felt a bit rushed given the quantity of food.

Great and unusual venue. Delicious food with a lot of it grown in the walled garden. Lovely to have a stroll round the beautiful flower and vegetable garden. A great shop too selling lots of interesting goodies!

Lovely venue overlooking the garden. Staff welcoming and helpful so a relaxed easy dining experience. Food was good using seasonal produce some from the garden. A delight all round.
