We travelled 1 hour to get to the Bistro as we were holidaying in Porthmadog. We had been there 3 years previously & had a lovely meal, this time we were celebrating Anniversary of 31 years. Unfortunately we did not get same ambiance. My chicken was not cooked and had to be returned to kitchen , I did get an apology and they asked my husband if he would like his meal kept warm whilst doing me another chicken. By the time it arrived I did not have an appetite. We didn't stay for dessert and paid in full with another apology.
Just a very good eating experience. Friendly staff and great food. Value for money.
Always a delight to visit Watsons Bistro, great food and service
I booked here for my mum and myself when we stayed overnight in the delightful town of Conwy. I checked reviews online and I wasn't disappointed. The bistro is so welcoming and the staff polite and helpful. The food was excellent and generous portions. We will definitely return.
We had looked forward to this very much as it was a gift from a friend. We found the restaurant tired we where seated in a corner my husband had a wall to look at. When we sat down we had a shabby cushion on our chairs as the chair had no padding. The food was disappointing. Don’t think we will rush back. Very disappointed
My wife and I have dined here on more than one occasion and have always found the staff very friendly as well as efficient, the menu imaginative and the food delicious.
Excellent restaurant. Our 2nd visit but did not disappoint. The service was outstanding and the food excellent. Will return next time we are in the area.
Very good food and service. Wouldn’t hesitate in returning
Last visit was a few years ago and was fine but not impressive. What an improvement! The lunch menu offers a good choice of absolutely delicious food at a very reasonable price. A lovely surprise - will definitely visit again soon.
Went for dinner with my family for a late dinner. My husband is celiac so asked what was suitable and the waitress was easily able to advise, in detail, what he could and couldn't have. We have never experienced service like that before. Food and service were exceptional. Will definitely be back again
Would definitely recommend, the food was amazing and the staff very friendly and knowledgeable.
Will definitely be returning. Well done Watsons Bistro, keep up the good work.
We came upon the Bistro when out for a walk. It doesn’t look much from the outside but it’s lovely inside. Food delicious, not a great choice of drinks but the food more than made up for it.
Sea Bass and Lamb Shoulder were fantastic! Loved this little nook in Conwy.
We have eaten at Watson's on several occasions; and will continue to go back. The food is always simply delicious.
Their meals were amazing. Every staff is very kindly. I absolutely recommend you this bistro and you can see the historical castle wall if you have an outside seat.
Excellent food and service makes us regular diners there.
We had a wonderful evening meal at Watsons.
Good choice of menu.
Could not ask for more.
V enjoyable meal - however table booked via 3rd party app that didn’t reach restaurant as staff surprised when we arrived as no evidence of our party’s booking/reservation in their records/diary - fortunately they found us a table and quality of food and experience was great - certainly recommend and return ourselves!
Excellent menu and the food was fantastic. Had the seafood fritters followed by the ox cheek.
Lovely evening with great food and service! Hope to be returning soon!
super meal. Service was excellent and unobtrusive. Great evening
Many thanks had a superb meal ,staff were excellent, food was very good highly recommend
Wonderful menus and the early bird is excellent value. Good selection of wines at reasonable prices and excellent service. A lovely ambiance throughout the evening. Would definitely recommend and return for a go at the a la carte menu.
Birthday meal in this hidden gem in Conwy Food was brilliant and lots to choose from on the menu Staff were very friendly We will be going back again soon
Met a few friends for a catch up over an evening meal. The food was superb, we chose 3 different mains....all were delicious and well presented. The staff are friendly, the ambience is good. Will definitely be back
A pleasant bistro very nice for our last holiday night. The ambience and service was very good, unfortunately some ingredients of dishes were over salted. When this was mentioned, the staff were quick to find replacements. The solero icecream was delicious it enhanced a rich pannacotta. I would recommend this restaurant.
Warm welcome from friendly staff. We ordered from the early bird menu, very good value with a good choice of starter, main and dessert. The service was quick, but not rushed and the food was beautifully cooked . The fresh bread served as a nibble while we waited was delicious. Of particular note was the roast Welsh lamb, and the homemade ice cream. Definitely worth a visit!
Fantastic meal. One of the best I have ever had. Food , service, ambiance all superb. I will be back here whenever I can. Thank you Watsons for making our evening fantastic
This was a good dinner rather than outstanding. The monkfish and the cod were good, but there was no flavour in the shrimp risotto and the mashed carrot tasted very strange (cardoman perhaps, but too strong). To us also the restaurant was a bit lacking in atmosphere.
However, what really concerned us was a lack of cleanliness. Our table surface was tacky to touch, the top of the pepper pot was dirty and had not been wiped for some time, and the place mats (brown with a cream edging) were grubby and frayed around the edges. The candle holder on the table had been used but not cleaned for a while, and generally the furnishings looked tired and worn. Our table looked out onto a patio where the awning was torn and held together with bulldog clips. Even the card machine used to pay was sticky and had a cracked front. Also the menu on the outside of the building doesn’t reflect the one you are handed inside - again in our view just a lack of attention to detail. If the management doesn’t pay attention to the customer facing bits, you do wonder what happens where the customer cannot see?
Had a lovely meal at lunchtime, service was excellent and very professional. Food was delicious. Would recommend
A lovely meal as we caught up on old times with an old school/family friend. Restaurant was ideal for the occasion and we will certainly return on our next visit back home
The food was absolutely delicious from starters to desserts. The staff were very helpful and knowledgable about the dishes. They were also very attentive without having to hover by the table, and our courses were very prompt but not at all rushed. It was the nicest dining experience I can recall having for a long time! We don’t manage to go out for dinner alone very often and so to do so is a treat reserved for birthdays and anniversaries. Watsons Bistro did not disappoint and made our evening very special.
The overall experience was good but small things just stopped it from being very good.
The table was wonky & the waitress had to keep putting a wedge under it as apparently "there was a knack to it".
Also, there was no candle on our table so upon request, the waitress put one on but it burned out after 20 minutes.
Had to wait for our table for 10 minutes, but they gave us a free bottle of wine.
Excellent food and service, we have been going here for years.
We had a good Time, tasty food and the People werde very nice
Very accommodating, as our group changed from three to two. We had made reservations for dinner, but had been traveling and had a late lunch. So, we ordered salads only which were delicious. My salad of asparagus, broccolini, new potatoes, brie and a poached egg ( a special that day) was the best salad I’ve had in the UK. My husband had the crispy duck salad which he liked very much.
As always - excellent service and a wonderful menu, will be back.
Been to Watson's on a number of occasions over the years and have always had a good experience with the food and service.
The outside terrace area where we sat do an early evening drink before dinner was dirty with litter and cigarette ends strewn about and dirty tables.
The waitresses repeatedly asked if we wanted to order dinner despite explaining we were relaxing and happy to come to the table at our booked time.
The table we were sat at was tiny and very wobbly and when I asked to be moved to an unoccupied table the waitress simply kicked a wedge under the table vase and left us on the table.
My wife went to the ladies toilet, which was blocked and full and unfit to use and the gents wasn’t very salubrious when I visited.
The food was the saving grace of the evening, but we both ordered short rib of beef as our main course and I am certain that whatever cut we had, it wasn’t short rib.
We had looked forwards very much to our visit which should have been the high point of a special day. Unfortunately front of house service and the general cleanliness left a lot to be desired.
I wanted to come here since the place said it was Welch food! Fantastic food! We each got the 2 course meal with an entree and dessert. I had the lamb and was very satisfied with it!! The chocolate tart special for dessert was only average! My boyfriend had the English toffee dessert and it was amazing!!
