It was ok overall. The bar didn’t have all items to make a drink for one of us. The service was probably the best of any other category. Food wasn’t great. My burger was over cooked, med rare was definitely med well. A little disappointed. Band was great, lots of fun
Outstanding food and service under existing COVID restrictions. Beautiful facility.
The food was mediocre and the mixed drinks just terrible. But we had a lovely waitress and a good time.
This place is very safe and a great place to take kids!! We sat outside in very comfortable outdoor seating. The food was good and the service was outstanding.
With a reservation, I had to wait 15 minutes for anyone to seat us outside, with plenty of tables available.
The Corned Beef was very dry, and the restaurant did not have any spicy mustard !
The Falafel sandwich arrived without the yogurt dressing, the restaurant substituted sour cream instead.
Very disappointed, it seemed like they were ready to close up shop.
Felt great to go out and enjoy live music and good food!
oh, where do I start. Went Tuesday for their advertised Fish and chip special, which is only on Tuesdays from 6-9pm.. Got there at 6:03 and was told that they were out of fish..lol..
when questioned as to why they had no fish, 3 minutes into the special, the server was evasive and gave a phony story that the sold out during the day.. when we reminded him the fish special only began 5 minutes ago, he could not respond.
So we regrouped and ordered a pastromi sandwich and a ruben sandwich.. The ruben was very good, the fries were dry and hard, obviously not freshly cooked! The pastromi was some kind of black meat, sliced thick and hard, whatever it was, it was not pastromi, and not fresh. it looked like dried up , old , roast beef.. We sent it back. waiter agreed after looking at it, that it was inedible.. ordered another ruben instead and it was ok, but same issue with french fries!
This location needs some better management for sure!
We had a party of four sitting outside at Waxy's on Friday night with plenty of social distancing. The Irish band Boston's Erin Og was playing and they were excellent. 2 of us had the nachos and 2 had the Boiled Dinner. The corned beef was cooked to perfection and went well with the potato's, cabbage and spicy mustard.
Although we were the only party there the service and food quality was terrific!! Will return!!
Sad there were so few people at the restaurant. Crispy chicken wings awesome. Shepherds pie disappointing especially considering it’s an Irish Pub. The potato layer far outweighed the meat and veggie layer.
Me and my gal and a buddy wanted to hear some live music and she had LaMarsh Was playing acoustically while singing and it was great
We went into Waxy’s for Guiness promotion night. We got married the evening prior, my new wife is from Ireland and thought this would be a fun night. The band was great and the child dancers were phenomenal! The problem? The staff. Every single one from the bartenders to the hosts and the servers looked MISERABLE. Not a smile, very cold greetings. It took 25 min to get a server to our table who claimed she was too busy with a larger table to wait on us. She finally took our order, which came out wrong. I asked to send my burger back and she said “do you want them to make you another one?” When it came back, it was an over cooked burger a plate, nothing else, not even the pickle it originally came with. I asked 3 times for a side of mayo. We had 2 friends arrive to meet us. An hour went by for them to get an appetizer delivered. We had to leave our table to order drinks from the bar, then the bartender was “put out” to have to serve us. This looked like a great bar, a great place for a celebratory night. We were very wrong and very disappointed.
Great live entertainment. Food service was slow on a light evening. Food preparation was mediocre. Steak tips were very tough. Steamed Broccoli was tasteless. Ruben came on very dry/old rye bread. Sangria mix was off. Very little follow up from the waitress who didn’t bother to ask if our food was ok or if we needed anything.
Service was ok. Food was ok. Ambience was better. Please pay close attention to the drink menu and edit the bourbon section...as a Kentucky bourbon guy I can tell you what is listed in the bourbon section (with the exception of seven items of the 30 plus) are actually bourbon. Could have been better.
Service was horrible. I waited forever and so did everyone else around me. I ordered the ribs, they were the worst I ever had. They were burnt to a crisp and very tough.
I had a coupon from the hotel and reviewed it twice with the server. He came back with my credit card and didn't take it off. However, as he handed it to me he said the discount was applied. That's stealing. I left and deducted it from his tip with a note.
Loved it and Chad Lamarsh was amazing. I was so happy with his performance
Hands down the worst place we have eaten and experienced in a long long time.
Let’s start with drinks. We ordered a Shirley Temple for our son. Came made with coke and not sprite or ginger ale as traditional. Sent it back to be made properly, but the waitress turned away before my husband could even order a beer. Finally he ordered a half and half. The waitress had no clue what that was. Kind of something traditional in an Irish Pub. It as clear since she did not know, she did not put in the order. After 5 minutes of waiting and no siting of her, my husband went up to the bar to get a beer. When he ordered another one, she had no clue that she never delivered him the first beer.
Food: The French onion soup could have had more flavor. The Dublin Dip was fine. The Shepherds pie was fine, but heavy on the potato mash. My son ordered nachos for dinner. They came out cold. Clear that they were cooked as an appetizer and left out until our food was ready. Not even under a heat lamp. The waitress should have realized the issue as soon as she touched the tray. She clearly knew the difference between something being hot or cold as she warned my husband that his plate was hot. Another batch came out, not sure if it was a new batch or simply reheated. What bothers me the most was there was never an apology. She did not care.
The restaurant was not busy when we were there...less than 20 people seated at at tables. There were two waitstaff for the 20 customers plus the bartenders.
Save your money. This restaurant is not worth it. You would do much better at almost any other restaurant.
We had a great time. The live music was awesome and that's why we came. Our waiter in training did a great job. Nice food options. Beer was cold.
Poor service, no ketchup, salt/pepper on table. Had to grab for ourselves from nearby tables. Steak tips were inedible (all fatty/gristle). Advertised an “Irish Party” at 7pm, there was still no live music when we left at 7:45pm.
Very friendly atmosphere. Staff all get along snd there is constant communication between them. They work great together in getting you fast service. Food is very good.
Simple lunch out with older relative. Nice range of menu options and specials to satisfy all appetites and budgets.
Waxy's at lunch on Sunday was uncrowded and super nice. We sat outside and enjoyed a warm Fall day, and our server was terrific - friendly and fast.
My sister and I met in Lexington and chose Waxy’s as it was near our hotel and menu looked reasonably priced. Noisiest establishment I have ever been in for dinner. Could not hear each other. Live music was awful. Food ok but I would never go back.
OK place. Food not that exciting but reasonable value. More suited if you want to have pub grub and a pint of beer with friends.
Food was good but I was disappointed that the asian salad on their website menu is not on the real menu. Also, the hostess looked like a slob. She is an attractive woman, but wore sneakers, jeans and a grey t-shirt. With a little effort should could be so much more.
The place was closed when we got there, unfortunately OpenTable was not updated with their "summer hours"
Great disappointment really, Drove all the way over their to find a note on the door
I am so sorry for this. Decisions were made last minute and we sincerely apologize for your wasted time. I would love for you to come in and dine with us so we can change you mind about us. If you do decide to come visit us, I would love for you to ask for me! Thanks for the feedback, Margery Luangrath, AGM
We enjoyed dining out on the patio very much. Initially we were the only ones outside, but it filled up before we were leaving. Service was great! Will be back
Great feedback! I am so glad you enjoyed your experience! We hope you come back to enjoy our patio again before the summer ends! -Margery Luangrath, AGM
I would not recommend this restaurant for food. It may be a great place for drinks, but overall, the food was subpar. I had a crispy chicken sandwich that was okay, but nothing special. Others at the table had fish sandwich, Sheppard's pie, and beef stew. The pie and fish sandwich were decent. The stew came out cold and vegetables were still hard.
Were out of several items. Service was great. Closed up and kicked us out in the middle of the second period of game six of the Stanley Cup Finals, at around 9:15.
Great place for a burger and craft beer.
First off the restaurant was so cold that most people where wearing there jackets and several customers complained that it was cold. We ordered 4 entrees and a salad came out almost ten minutes after the others. The first time our server came back after the other three entrees came out was when the salad came and I sent back my beef stew as it had almost no beef in it. I had ask for a new serving and the waitress came back with the same bowl of stew but had added more beef. Since it had beef plated for 15 minutes it was cold but we didn’t see our server again until the bill came and I had to ask for it to be taken off of the bill. It was a very disappointing experience
I love Waxy’s...been here many times. The Buffet was less than stellar. Chicken in the Marsala was a brick, salmon was over cooked and prime rib was still moo-ing. The breakfast bar was good, but then again how can you mess up breakfast. Desert bar items were cold or frozen. Would NEVER recommend the buffet here!
It started out fairly quiet, but then the noise level went up and it got difficult to hear the conversation.
Food was very good and reasonably priced. Service was great! Band this night was extremely talented...professional.
Great service. I can’t remember the name of our server but she was great
We really enjoyed it. The food was delicious and we had a wonderful waitress!
A little noisy, however it was the start of st Patrick's weekend.
The mustard tube was not cleaned. My friend had a pasta noodle in her corn beef and cabbage. I recommended this place too. I really like the menu also so I don’t think they will go back with me
