What Insiders Are Saying
Want low-key cool in Highbury? Westerns Laundry is a modern wine bar & restaurant in a converted garage that does brilliant small plates.
Fab food and a lovely special atmosphere. A real treat.
Very buzzy restaurant. Was slightly disappointed on the second visit. Perhaps it was the selection of dishes however the food was executed with less finesse.
Really excellent casual feel, left to browse the menu and chat as long as we wanted, but staff always present when we needed them.
Menu was beautiful, could have had one of everything. The artichokes and pig's head croquette were my highlights. Can't wait to come back and try another day's offerings.
Beautiful food and wine. Relaxed, friendly and efficient service. Consistently and reassuringly great.
Subtle flavours, great textures and food to tantalise taste buds. Creative cooking at its best. The friendliness of the staff makes it even better. Their small list of natural wines is equally delectable. I have been here twice and would go back many more tomes I am sure.
Very good tasty food, relaxed ambience, nice service, overall great place
Super delicious food... Lovely ambience and charming service. Will be back!
Really special place - delicious food, great wine and lovely atmosphere - the perfect neighbourhood spot.
Food great as usual. Service not very attentive.
Amazing, creative menu and great staff. We needed to get going for a theatre show and they really helped speed things along.
Really good food. I wish the wines were better though...
First time here and we loved it ! Deco was stylish and unexpected especially as you walk along the road and see the scaffolding next door.
This is the third time I've been to Western's Laundry this year, and each time has been special. Brilliant interesting wine's and small plate eating that emphasises seafood as well as the nose to tail end of meat. Basically it's adventurous food, done really really well. And the surroundings and service are top notch too.
Really great daily menu, lots of veggie options, fab wine list and a really buzzy atmosphere. And by far my favourite restaurant toilets!
I love the way the menu changes daily. The food is incredible with imaginative sharing dishes and an interesting wine list. The service is always friendly and attentive. Love this place.
Consistently good food, great ambience and attentive service. We had a lovely time
Astounding food best I’ve tasted for ages, design and atmosphere impeccable.
Loved the table layout makes the experience more intimate. Lighting levels excellent.
Lovely welcome from waitress. Wine suggestions by another waitress not great and steering us to the most expensive wine, which I find very off putting. Taster so minuscule only enough for a drop for one person to sample.
Overall an absolutely brilliant find! Thank You Westerns Laundry we will be back.
Portions very small, even the larger plates. Tasty though.
Quickly turning into a local for me. This place always delivers - daily changes to the menu, amazing food, wine and stylish venue. Check out the sister restaurant "Primeur" nr. Canonbury as well. Equally amazing!
One of our group had a celeriac allergy (previously notified to the restaurant, although the servers seemed unaware of this when we arrived) which effectively reduced our menu choices by half. Some of the dishes were excellent (eg - the cod); others rather ordinary. However, we will give it another go as reports by friends from past experiences have been that this is a first class spot. Service was good, the ambience buzzy, wine choice fine.
Excellent dinner; food was incredible. Really nice to be sat up at the bar, looking into the kitchen. The sirloin was incredible.
Very friendly service! Noise deafening. Food sounds more interesting than it is. Nice ideas but mixed in execution. Excellent humus with crispy chick peas and raw onions. Cured stone bass was tasty too. However beans and ricotta should not be put on a plate together and soggy Brussels sprouts is a culinary no no. I would go back but like it’s sister restaurant Primeur I think the food has dropped in quality and gone up somewhat in price.
The first thing you notice is the buzz and the candlelit space. It’s happily noisy and while you will probably sharing a table, twosers are seated across corners creating a real intimacy. The food was special and quickly delivered. The wine we had was fine though nothing special. The service was attentive and friendly. We’ll be going back.
Liked everything about it apart from the shared table
Great neighborhood restaurant. Good Food and Atmosphere
Unbelievably delicious, as usual. I have never had a disappointing dish in many visits to the restaurant.
We had a great evening. Very comfortable with a fabulous ambiance and service. Loved some of the dishes like the red mullet and the sardines but would comment that many of the dishes and bread were over salted which took away from food.
We would however go back as it was a great evening and we were well looked after.
Great restaurant, odd spot. Sharing tables is odd - but all very on trend. Food is lovely - not enough pudding choice.
Creative, fresh and daily changing menu. Top notch seafood. Beautiful ambiance with candlelit glow.
Second visit to Western's. LOVE the restaurant itself, nice for date dinner or small groups of good friends (industrial-ish candle lit vibe). Food is all delicious, their bread & butter, super tender pork cheek, brilliant house white wine & light (but heady) rum baba, were the highlights for me! Will return!
Great meal. Noisy but full of atmosphere
Fabulous innovative food in a confortable and friendly setting
Fantastic hidden gem, with delicious food and very friendly/helpful staff.
Brilliant little find. Delicious fresh food, we especially loved the veggie dishes but all were great. Lovely unpretentious atmosphere.
live locally and dine in here at least 1x p month - obsessed.
The seabass and mushroom toast were splendid but our favorite was the Mussels and chorizo.
The Pinot blanc from Hungary was a success
We were so well looked after by Holly - thank you - excellent food, interesting menu .
Definitely will return.
Very disappointing - went on a recommendation booked for 9.30pm but on arrival table not ready so not seated until nearly 10pm. Table we were given was a very small table for two not three! We then found d most of the dishes were sold out! Restaurant is being greedy turning tables and overcrowding and couldn’t care less about the diners - avoid better places to go food was nothing special.
