Westerns Laundry is a Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurant focusing on seafood & natural wines. The restaurant is located in the Islington/Highbury neighbourhood of North London. It opened in 2018 and is housed in a 1950's industrial building which used to be home to the largest commercial laundry in North London. What a brilliant place to dine. We were greeted warmly when we arrived, and seated in the beautifully lit restaurant. From the outset the staff were friendly welcoming and incredibly attentive. They answered every question we had with detail and understanding of what was on the menu. Have to give a special thank you to Rose and Rachel, who were amazing through the whole evening even helping us with reccomendations from the wine and food. They really helped set the tone for a special meal for my mum’s birthday. The food can only be described as a taste sensation, with the natural wines and service to match! 10/10 couldnt recommend more <3

The food at this restaurant does not disappoint..we ordered 10 plates, at least 7 of them were absolutely delicious. Incredible fusion of flavours and very inventive cooking. I would say the fish dishes were overall less successful than the vege plates, but opinion in our group of 5 was divided on that ...what really irks me is the wine list...I think it is really punitive to charge an average of more than £50 per bottle..when I rang to check if I could bring my own and pay corkage, I was told it would be £30 per bottle..THAT is punitive. We had a bottle of Pinot Noir which was £65, and I'm just not sure it was worth it..I'm also not a huge fan of natural wine, and if you are going to make that something of a signature offering, it might make sense to at least consider those who beg to differ. It does seem to be a case of like it or lump it..I'm not sure I would recommend WL to a friend when so much of the enjoyment of the food is down to the wine that complements it. Oh, and I almost forgot...I could not find anything online about the wines on offer at the restaurant..

Overpriced small portions with bland flavours, poor selection of wine and beer, great service but the food was deeply disappointing. You can find much better restaurants in London with better quality like Acme Fire Cult, Cafe Cecilia, Perilla, Plimsoll and more. Avoid.

Another excellent visit. Wonderful ambience and interesting sharing plates. The only detraction was that where we were sat at the counter we were regularly getting bumped by passing waitstaff and guests.

Great neighbourhood restaurant. Fantastic plates of food. The service was good, lovely staff. Lost one star due to wine selection. Not a huge fan of French reds but all four of the reds were French. What we had was ok not not great. But more than made up for it with the food

Love this place. The food, service and ambience all come together to create a memorable experience everytime. Every dish is outstanding and we love sharing and trying their new dishes. The bread and butter alone is worth the trip! Highly recommend the tuna, panelle (chickpea fritters) and smoked eel.

Food is always a surprise for the better. It is indeed quite expensive, but the overall experience is always great. I would say that the one thing there is room for improvement would be the sound levels. For the rest, always a pleasure!

Great place to eat - the staff were friendly and very helpful with the menu. Everything recommended was delicious, the plates arriving as and when ready, (which I really liked). We came away feeling good, well fed and well looked after, with just the right amount everything. We all agreed we'd definitely go back!

The food was tasty and well cooked. That was the saving grace for this place. The seating was cheek by jowl. Noise level very high. Menu on a chalk board. 2 of our party had their backs to it therefore had to have the menu read to them. Small sharing plates, very last year.... Coats hung in a stupid place. We had to disturb other diners to retrieve them. Get a take away if they do that, then at least you can eat in peace!

We found most rated restaurants in Islington area fully booked even on a Tuesday evening. (Have to be more organised 2 weeks out apparently). Well this is a kind of special place so I guess that’s why it wasn’t, as it’s also kind of pricy. But I still did worry about it not being fully booked - why not? I needn’t have worried. Coming upon it in this quiet residential street is somewhat of a surprise, glowing so attractively in the early evening dark. It’s like a warehouse but also cosy, there are shared tables and banquettes. Outdoor seating integrated with the main room - on this very warm October night all the doors were open and there were people sitting outside. The menu is on the board and the tastes are complex - need explained by the friendly and patient staff whilst we made our selection. Everything was really delicious and unusual, though sometimes the ingredients are so straightforward- tomato mousse was divine, and little morsels of toast with an anchovies and pickles. All of our favourites was the salted cod!! Mmmmm. We shared 7 savoury plates between 4, 2 puddings and 4 glasses of wine and 3 soft drinks. Bill was £200 incl service, yes, expensive (tho maybe not so much for London) but very special. It is listed 4th on time outs best in north London. It is not the place to go if you are just hungry, but if you love special flavours and unusual foodie ideas, a great buzzy atmosphere and prompt but not hurried service I def recommend it. Thx for a great evening.

Wonderful service, wonderful food. We were very late to our reservation due to our ignorance of the chaos that ensued after the Arsenal/Chelsea game. But they still let us have our same table and were so understanding and still provided wonderful service. Best mussels I’ve had too.

The cost of the bottle of CAVA was EXORBITANT. £60 a bottle. I would not recommend you to anyone I'm afraid. I felt ripped off. Sorry. I don't like writing bad reviews, but this took my breath away.
