GOOD FOOD, good price but too noisy so not great for a friends get together. We got a shared table and could even listen to what the person across the table was saying

Always excellent and a great variety of different dishes, flavours and textures to share and try out. Love this place.

Wanted to go here for a while after reading some reviews and seeing photos on instagram. The menu on the wall rather than in hand was a little annoying if you are not sitting facing the menu. The wine list was good, but expensive, few bottles under £35 a bottle. Lovely food, but slightly small plates, I felt like I needed more than the suggested 5 to share to be full. Good cheese board and aperitifs.

Loved the delicious pork dish, and the rum baba was amazing. Friendly staff, good food.

Another excellent dining experience and new dishes that do not disappoint. Thank you for remembering my teenage children’s nut allergies. The personal touch is much appreciated

A very cool and fun experience. We shared 3 of the tapas-like starters and a main course each. all of which were delicious. There could maybe be more vegetarian choices. I liked the fact that various choices were struck off the blackboard menu once they sold out. The Italian wine was lovely

A good night. Food was nice. Not quite as good as I’ve had previously but all in all a lovely time.

Great food. There's a lot of fish on the menu, but plenty of great options besides. The crispy polenta with wild mushrooms was incredible. The rum baba also a highlight, springy yet sodden with booze and just pure pleasure. It gets noisy there, so don't take your beloved partially-deaf uncle -- he'd struggle. Finish off with a prune-scented digestif. Recommended.

This is an uncompromising restaurant: when you arrive the rules are explained to you and you either leave (sadly we didn’t) or stay. If you stay and question any of the rules you are treated with supercilious arrogance, as if you were simple-minded and have never eaten out before.

1) There are no printed menus, only a chalkboard on one wall. If you can’t see the menu (the writing is small and in an idiosyncratic font), and ask “what is on the menu?”, you are told to go and photograph the board (see attached). I happened to be on crutches, so this wasn’t exactly straightforward as the maximum number of tables have been packed in.

2) The menu consists of “plates to share”, but they are barely big enough for one and arrive in random order. One of my guests asked about one plate – a chicken leg – “how can I share that?”. “Cut it with knife”, came the response – delivered with an air of condescension as if addressing a toddler. The food was generally of a low standard and overpriced.

3) The wine list is massively overpriced. We were recommended a little-known Spanish wine at £62 a bottle – it was well past its best.

4) The place is very noisy, with sound levels of 85dB peaking over to 90, making conversation only possible by shouting.

5) The two members of waiting staff with whom we interacted were discourteous to the point of insolence.

Food was good but clearly only in tapas-style eatery. Fun modern kitchen but far far too noisy - at least it was on a Friday evening. Not easy to hold a conversation there.

Our second visit and we weren't disappointed. Every single dish was delicious. Particular highlights were the mussels with chili and garlic, the pollack with ginger, and the brill with leeks. The atmosphere is great and the staff couldn't have been nicer, even though we proved hard to please when selecting our wine. I really don't understand the modern enthusiasm for minimum intervention wines if they end up tasting of dirt. I can recommend the Voignier though.

A real gem of a place . We have been a few times now and love the room and the food but my only reservation would be the Organic wine . Clearly there must be enough people that love it but I took a group of real foodies and they said the only thing that would have them rethinking coming again was the wine . Find a few more bottles , that are not organic and the restaurant would be perfection . We ordered two glasses of Viognier ( on the blackboard ) but we were told that the wine had run out . Case in point ... enough people wanting to drink an alternative .

The atmosphere in restaurant and the wine list is amazing but food was a bit disappointing. I’ve been there for their wine selection before and I was so looking forward to their food menu for my friend going away gathering but we ordered a muscles and sea bass dish that taste really fishy in a bad way and sands in the muscles. We eventually have to return it to the kitchen and they didn’t charge us for that dish. It was very nice service of them but food was disappointing

Real dexterity in making the ordinary memorable, such as the dish with carrots and one with polenta. One disappointment was the fried hake which was too salty whilst there was too little pimento sauce to accompany the hake. Good light red Loire wine.

Splendid place to spend an afternoon with fabulous food and wine. I loved that we could order all of our chosen dishes (there were quite a few!) and the kitchen staff then delivered each one with timely perfection. The food was outstanding and we loved every dish.
We had the pleasure of being served by the owner Jereme, who sat down at the end of our meal to chat with us, he answered all of my questions about his wonderful restaurant and we discovered that this was not his only eatery he owns. So we will be visiting Primeur in the very near future, where I’m sure we will be greeted with the same exceptional service and food.

Warm welcome, beautiful space and great atmosphere. Can’t fault the food or service, however the wine list could be greatly improved.

The cheapest bottles are not good value and went for a more a more costly option which was vastly overpriced and not to our taste.

Otherwise a good experience and enjoyable evening.

Westerns Laundry was quite a disappointment. The menu is limited, there are no decent vegetarian options, it's expensive for small portions, and we had to sit on very uncomfortable stools by the bar. These stools were placed where the waiter was constantly coming to get dishes for the rest of the room, and the waiter kept bumping onto me every time she was collecting a new dish. Those stools should not be used to serve any customers.

Last but not least, the small portions of expensive food are not an explosion of exciting flavours, but very average home food at best. Covering croquettes in tons of salt does not compensate for the lack of flavour, and the sardines tasted like the were coming straight from a tin from Poundland (and may they were). Not to mention that I would expect beef to be warm and not stone cold (unless it is served as a salad, which is was not supposed to be)

Very busy dining room, large tables where groups share. The maximum number of people are fitted in so very little space and a quite noisy. Food was very good and every dish was was interesting and well prepared. Unfortunately did rather feel as if the staff were doing you a favour being there. Slow service and had to ask two or three times on occasions, for example for a drink.

The food was exceptional. Creative dishes made with top quality ingredients. I thought the food was a bit better than Primeur. Like Primeur Westerns is group dining at large shared tables. This seems to work better if you are with a large group. We were three seated next to a group of eight and we had a few problems getting the staff’s attention. The only other problem is that the menu is printed on one wall. If you are seated at an angle from that wall it is very difficult to read.

Unfortunately we went on a game night, which is a mistake, but a mistake that fades as you become ensconced in the comfort and delicious food... and as people going to the game get going. Once the restaurant was a bit quieter, it was lovely. Best lentil salad I've ever had. The ricotta pasta with wild garlic was surprising, delicate, sweet and (surprise) not too garlicky. Pork collar and cod were terrific. Great atmosphere, good wine list, menu changes often... this is one of the better food spots in London and perhaps the brightest spot in Islington.
