Probably not the best conditions under which to review Whiskey Red's Sunday brunch. Early days of Covid-19 virus restrictions, so restaurant opted to eliminate the buffet, but allowed diners to order off of a hand-held menu with all of the buffet options (and for a single all-you-can-eat price). It strained their wait-staff resources, but they handled it OK. View of the water and boats was beautiful.
Nice setting by the water, but the food was mediocre and too expensive.
My experience was ok. There was no shrimp available and when we asked the staff they kept saying that it was being prepared. After abt 45 minutes of waiting we asked our waiter he gave us the same answer. There were several items that was not avail at all during the buffet. So it was almost like we pay for something we didn’t ever receive. This was quite a few stations empty and never refilled. The fruit station, shrimp, deserts and so on.
Beautiful setting - fire pits, water views and good service. Great for business conversation and friend-making.
Lovely spot just to hang out and relax, parking was a bit of challenge but all in all, really enjoyable
Great food and service,
Definitely will be back
My group and I throughly enjoyed the brunch at Whiskey Reds.
The waiters were understaffed. The food was semi cold.
As always... we thoroughly enjoyed just hanging out here. We stayed until "last call" just enjoying each other and the energy this spot is famous for. I was disappointed, however, to find that the pasta station is gone. You now have to order it (and a few other items) from the wait staff and the quality seems off. The pasta station is the thing that won me over the first time, and every time I have returned, it has been one of the things I most look forward to. A special treat. The alfredo sauce was runny and the sun dried tomatoes weren't for me. Everything else tasted fine.
The only other downside was the waitstaff that served us. On my last visit, our waiter was like batman, popping up to refill our glasses before they could ever be emptied. Yesterday (and maybe she had other things going on???) our waitress had to be asked several times for refills. One of my friends asked for more water that never made it to the table.
Overall, another good time and I will definitely be back. However, now that I know of a spot that is closer and cheaper, Whiskey Red's will no longer be my default brunch spot.
The seafood had a fishy taste. I could not finish the crab legs or the shrimp.
The service was amazing and the staff was very friendly.
Definitely not what it used to be. Average food and terrible service.
Amazing! We sat outside by the fire pit, and had two large froze drinks which were very tasty. The service was great. We came in late, and no one rushed us to go. We ordered the fish tacos (one blackened, one fried) and the oysters (6) for our appetizers, and our tastebuds were impressed. This place offers great portions and the overall ambiance is nice. For dinner, we had the lobster roll sandwich and shrimp scampi. We are definitely going to order 12 oysters moving forward. You’ve gained some regulars Whiskey Reds :)
Need more items on the Buffet menu, The Eggs Benedict were over cooked. The egg should have been runny not a hard boiled egg
Service was bad but you could tell it was just a bad day for the server. Other servers pitched in to help and that fixed most issues.
The noise level was so high from people who did not care they were disturbing other diners. A very sad situation for a b Beautiful spot!
Fantastic setting in Marina Del Rey, good food selection for the brunch, even oysters! Good live sax player, a little loud depending on where you are sitting. Have umbrellas for shade and heaters for warmth, we used both for different members of our party. Nice buffet with great service.
Great view and atmosphere. Service good improve. Food selection not bad. My personal ordered dish, as if they were scared to add an additional piece of salmon, other then that great overall.
Maria was nice 😊. Also she was very alert
The staff were all wonderful and made this Valentine’s Day excellent for me and my wife. The view of the marina was amazing.
My our steak was over cooked the veggie were burnt and the mash potatoes were warm. This was Valentines Day and I wanted the evening to be very special!!! My
Generally good but I wish our server was more attentive. Parking was a little confusing but did manage to find the correct entrance later. We noticed a few couples also came in for parking the same way like we did and had to turn back.
Grilled chicken was so-so. We were expecting some flavors out of the chicken but it was just under seasoned meat and the charred areas tasted a little bitter.
Whiskey Red's is a Wonderful Restaurant where I have always enjoyed the Sunday Brunch!! Excellent food and service. This past Valentine's Day was not satisfactory. The food was brought out cold. Dry, cold, lobster is not enjoyable. Luke warm clam chowder not desirable, but at least tasty. The "save" was the service received from the waitress. The manager received the complaint with a nonchalant attitude. I'll still recommend Brunch. The price has gone up, so Excellent food and service expected!
The service was good, but the food was overpriced.
Parking situation was poor - though no valet service is offered anymore, there’s no sign to indicate that, and then you have to back out and drive around to park in the regular lot...not a great start. We were seated right away, and put in a drink order quickly, but waited nearly 20 minutes for those drinks. We commented to one of the managers, and things picked up a tad. The food was fine, but my 6 oz filet was definitely more like 4 oz. Overall, a disappointing dining experience.
Valentine’s Day dinner
Not sure if it's because I went on Valentine's night but the menu selection was minimum and overall experience I would rate low. Would not be returning to Whiskey Reds
Server took awhile to bring my wife’s drink which was just a Coke including refilling it and my glass of water. I ordered halibut from the menu but was told that they did not have it available. This just seems unreal because it was on Valentines Day.
The food isn’t great and the selection isn’t as abundant as other brunch buffets. The saxophone player is a definite plus!! Our waitress was amazing
The food selection was minimal, the food was cold, and many of the food items were left empty for several minutes. Not what I was expecting from what I read about the brunch.
The staff was so nice and helpful. The cocktails were fantastic and the food was delicious! Everything was appropriately priced. The atmosphere was lovely being able to sit outside under a heater looking out at the water. It is one of those places where you can dress casually with friends or look nice for a date and you won't feel out of place. Overall, had a great night at Whiskey Red's. (And afterwards we walked along the pier and watched the sea lions!)
Thank you so much for your amazing review! We look forward to serving you again soon :)
Was a bit disappointed in the food! Service was good, but the food was just ok and the price was not equivalent to the quality.
Love the firepit by the bay
Sunday Brunch does not get replenished, so go early or skip completely. Food is just okay; service was seriously understaffed. Too expensive for what it is. Patio ambiance is great, but live musician was so loud we couldn’t hear each other talk at a table for two!
food was a disappoint not many choices and what was there not good enough no plates food not replenish on time have to ask for refill and plates and food.
I was a regular ‘bruncher’ here back in the day when it was under another name. Saw the Dine LA special and decided to try dinner ,we were surprised to see the place was nearly empty but the ambiance was nice and the outdoor fire pits and the indoor fireplace made for a very cozy environment.
Two of us had the fish and chips and the other had salmon, everything was good .
