Too many tables crammed into such a small space. We had a table in the middle of a very busy room and were denied when we requested to swap tables. We constantly had people pushing past us, bumping us during our meal. Not very enjoyable experience although the food was very good. We felt rushed through dinner and drinks.
Restaurant is beautifully furnished and looks cozy and atmospheric. Food was very good but the drinks seemed very overpriced.
Thoroughly enjoyed our meal at the Whiski Rooms and it's somewhere that I would both recommend and return. The food was excellent and this was echoed by all at the table.
Highly recommended nice atmosphere good food attentive service
Our table was ready when we got there even though we were quite early. Food and Whisky was excellent and staff was great.
We were looking forward to this dinner, and the food was good but the attitude that we had from our waiter made it less than pleasant. We had never been to this restaurant before, it was our first night in Edinburgh, but we have traveled for years and I have never been told by a waiter that I had to order everything at once, I could not order a drink and an appetizer and then continue to look at the menu and decide on a main course in while we were waiting for our starters. He literally refused to take our order until we had decided on our entire meal. I had made this reservation a week prior, we didn't just walk in and decide we were going to take up a table ( a small two top in the middle of the room, not a great table anyway) so he continued his crappy attitude throughout our meal, we were very disappointed. Needless to say we went elsewhere for dessert and after dinner drinks. His name was Lukas. Hope he treats you better than he did us.
We had a great evening with a great service from the waitress.
We would definitely go there again, if we had the occasion.
Nice location and good food for a New Years Day adult meal. Nice well presented food.
Festive feel to the restaurant with a view of the market and lights.
Great food and service.
Ate at this restaurant the night before New Year Eve.
Our server David was helpful in a cheerful and welcoming way. Order taking, suggestions and serving was done very well.
Good simple food. Friendly staff. Would come back.
Fiancés birthday meal
3rd visit and still very good....Good food , great friendly service , sat us in the corner which was just right for what we wanted...and kept interruptions to a minimum ....only challenge was we needed to leave table after 2hrs...to be fair we were informed when we arrived...we were engrossed in conversation and lost all track of time...we will definitely be back!
Gorgeous food, fantastic selection of Scottish whiskies, really great, helpful staff and a great location right in the city centre. A perfect restaurant and not to be missed if you’re visiting Edinburgh.
Amazing food as always. We took family from New Zealand and everybody had wonderful food. Haggis spring rolls, salmon 3 ways to start followed by fillet steak all round. Dessert was whiski cranachan, another firm favourite!
Very quiet. No atmosphere. Food very average at best.
Very relaxed place, with a good atmosphere. The music was loud enough to hear, but not so loud that you had to shout. The food was very good, and good value. We would definitely go back.
The food and service was excellent. All our dishes were fresh and delicious! I would highly recommend the WHISKI room
Absolutely fabulous venue for tasting followed by sumptuous food
Fabulous service and beautiful lamb dish!
Delightful meal in a great location with a traditional menu and the right level of noise to be friendly.
Great service and great food! Try the haggis and venison.
Cosy atomsphere, great food and service, tables a little too close to the next so not much chance for a private conversation, otherwise perfect and would certainly visit again
It’s fantastic. Had a wonderful evening booked on Internet two months prior. So good going back tonight 17th December 2018
Had a wonderful lunch here with friends on Saturday ! Service was exceptional , will definitely be back !
Thanks a lot for an impeccable service from the guy with curls. Professional, helpful and funny. 5 stars!
Excellent food, drinks on the expensive side. Fabulous friendly staff.
Had a lovely meal without a Christmas menu in sight which suited us perfectly. Tasty, freshly cooked produce. Portion size perfect for us, we ate everything. Staff friendly and reasonably priced.
First time for me and my friend here and we were not disappointed! A very welcoming greeting, and an excellent lunch. I thought the Whisky Fish and chips was superb - fish was so good. We had a very friendly and chatty waitress (from New Zealand) who made our dining experience just lovely! Will certainly be back.
Vibrant atmosphere. Good position. The venison was divine and the fillet steak, delicious. Lovely atmosphere and overlooking the Christmas markets.
Had a great meal at the Whiski Rooms. David our server was fantastic, the food was perfect and the ambiance was just what we wanted.
Food always delicious & a great place to catch up with friends over a chilled bottle of wine.
Fabulous meal enjoyed by our family would highly recommend, sadly we can only visit when we come home to Edinburgh but always top of our list as a favourite restaurant to dine at!
The staff were so welcoming & friendly, the food tasted amazing and it was a great atmosphere. Highly recommend!!
Third time here, good as ever food and drink. Service very efficient!
Great service- nothing too much trouble for the lovely Kiwi waitress and Lucas the Polish waiter. Have already recommended The Whiski Rooms to friends. Really enjoyed our lunch.
Really good atmosphere, had the steak which was exceptional. Also the old fashioned was lovely and smooth.
Fantastic. Thoroughly enjoyed the Introduction to Whisky and will be visiting again during our next trip to Edinburgh.
Meal was beautiful and service was fast & friendly. Great range of meals and lots of wonderful whiskeys to choose from.
The gentleman on the shop desk and the waitresses in the restaurant are extremely knowledgable and more than happy to share their wisdom. Would recommend this place for those guys alone.
Busy, attentive maitre-de. Shown to the best table as far as we could see in a cosy den at the back of the restaurant.
Uninspiring menu, but that was of no matter. Steak & ale pie, piping hot & tasty.
Haddock & chips with truffle oil & Parmesan utterly delicious. Batter crispy, chips crispy, what’s not to like. Washed down by 7 Girraffes IPA. This is how plain fair should be served. Recommended.
