White Dog Cafe - University City
They gave me a birthday card and my heart melted ❤️ always an amazing experience! Top notch in terms of food, hospitality and environment. Makes a cat person convert to a dog person!!
Yet again, an amazing experience only this time shared with the parents. They loved it the same. Amazing plates, great wine and cocktails, wonderful service and incredible ambiance.
The food was delicious, the service friendly and effective. My favorite restaurant near Penn.
Always great food - and hidden away on Sansom Street. Outdoor seating really nice. And the waitstaff are attentive without being overbearing.
We were very disappointed with our brunch this past Sunday. Sadly the restaurant has really lost it’s charm and feels like a chain restaurant! The server was completely overwhelmed, food took a long time to arrive, and felt poor in quality for the pretty high price. (i.e, the salad dressing that came with the wedge salad was describes as “a condiment dressing: mustard, mayonnaise , and ketchup 🤢) with small cold fried shrimp that felt like red lobster 😩
Go back to your small restaurant roots!
Great food and service
Went for breakfast- very mediocre food potatoes mushy 2 of our plates were cool not warm or hot toast was cold. Neat space but food is why you go to a place. Won’t go back many other places that can prepare bacon and eggs properly.
Great spot for brunch! Food is fantastic and they offer an interesting and varied menu. Very pretty restaurant, especially when the outdoor seating is available.
I love White Dog and have eaten there several times (Actually in two of their locations). Normally very good food and service. It can get very busy, so plan for that!
The server was top notch, but the food was nothing special. The hummus appetizer was ok, but the eggplant Marsala was awful
Great place. We are from Florida and met family here. Delicious dinner and great service from Andre. Cute decor. Would definitely go again.
Always a great meal and great service
Don’t hesitate! Just book it. You will not be disappointed!
The waitress was extremely rude. To the point we decided. It to get entrees and got dessert and left. The mushroom soup at long wood gardens is better then their mushroom soup.
Excellent food and service! Great location in Phila!
Always delicious, always efficient, a wonderful time
White Dog Cafe is definitely one of the best places to brunch around UPenn's campus. The overall experience was very pleasing and their decorations were amazing! The food was also very good, and it definitely is a great place to ring friends to for a nice brunch:)
Such a unique and fun restaurant - always love visiting when I am in Philadelphia
Great meal and service. Lots of locally sourced stuff. The honey and sea salt butter and local rolls are worth coming back for alone!!! Cool place! Would definitely recommend and return!
The area i was in was beautiful. I had brought in out of town family for brunch. Ms also be aisw i have celiac disease. I thought there were more choices but what i had was good. My family was hapy with all but it was dampened by a loud and obnoxious inappropriate group who got louder the more they drank. Al though the waitress alerted the managwe, nothing was done. Fort this reason you get4 stars overall.
I used to go to the White Dog all the time years ago for Brunch. I don’t live in Philly anymore and was in town and excited to return. Wasn’t the same. They’ve expanded into the space where the store was. They used to put a variety of fresh bakery bread with the best butter I’ve ever had. Now they give these little piece of cake. No more piano room... No more feeling. Food was excellent. Wait staff was too busy to refill bottomless mimosas and bloody Mary’s so that wasn’t worth it. Still good but not memorable anymore.
Our server Sade was so polite and funny. She definitely added great vibes to our friend brunch
Delicious Food, Great Service. Great place for a special occasion.
Wonderful food waitress pouty and a little slow the quantity of dinners
Hanna was our server and she and the supporting staff were fantastic. Great food!
Good food and good cocktails. No complaints there. But the service was bizarre. Everything was rushed. Appetizers were brought out moments after we got our cocktails. The check came before our dessert was on the table. The upshot? The restaurant was not crowded at all. Plenty of empty tables around us, but they decided to seat a large group right next to us so our conversation was drowned out. Do you think it was late and they were desperate to go home. We got there for dinner at 7pm! No reason to go back.
I always recommend White Dog it’s exceptional !!! Will be back on my next visit to Penn !!
Food was great. Service was good, too, but the decaf wasn’t hot and I had to remind her about the cream.
Great food and ambience for our last dinner as a family before we dropped off my son to college !
A couple of friends and I went to White Dog Cafe for bottomless mimosas for my birthday. The food was super tasty & our waiter Jeff was really knowledgeable and pleasant.
I love having Sunday brunch here!
I enjoyed brunch and the quality of ingredients. Not enough comfort vegetarian options for me. Everyone enjoyed their meal at the tableS
We really like White Dog. That said, it's actually really poorly managed. This visit, we had an excellent server, attentive etc. But the management is horrendous. This was for brunch, and the restaurant has 11 different rooms, that said, to no apparent reason they had giant tables with children in seemingly every space. A couple asked to be moved and we're seated next to us instead of beside the table with 5 under 5. The "hostess" was rude to them, we spoke up in support of their position and she told us that we were being discriminatory to suggest that there might be a better way to keep everyone happy. In short, she should be fired. Her attitude was absolutely unacceptable, and I would imagine that she has cost you more than just theirs and our repeat business. It's a shame, great food, fun menu and an otherwise great staff undermined by a bitter woman who doesn't care at all about the business. I would as a business owner absolutely have a very hard time writing her a check.
Our servers name was Chris and he was amazing! To start off he noticed we had a 3 year old with us and he immediately got her a cup with a lid and then offered to put her food in right away. So her food came out before we even ordered which was so nice! Chris seriously went above and beyond for all of us! Not only was the food absolutely amazing but the environment is so amazing as well. A really chill vibe in there and the building was amazing. If you are in the city you HAVE to eat there. You will not be disappointed and ask for Chris!
Our server, Tara, was so nice. She made excellent did/drink recommendations. She also told us a little history about the restaurant!! The food was delicious!
Great service and menu options.
The service was fantastic and the breakfast was the best breakfast I’ve had in a long time. I recommend the churro waffles, they are phenomenal.
We had a very nice breakfast in their new solarium downstairs with large windows that open towards the back of the restaurant. It's very bright and friendly. The food was delicious and we spent extra time there talking with no rush to leave.
Great place for dinner - a real treat. Looking forward to visiting again next time I’m in Philadelphia
Love this place. Great food, great atmosphere. Staff did a good job with our party of 7. Everyone enjoyed it per usual. Thanks!
