Great service and food outstanding . Enjoyed the atmosphere. We enjoyed eating there
Brunch was mediocre. Has potential to be great and I’ve heard good things, but first impression was a doozy. The hosts were not pleasant or welcoming, which should be a top priority. Server was kinda, meh. And food was just okay. I would go back and give it a second try because I feel like the potential is there.
Always love this place. After I have been there a few times, there are still new areas that I have yet uncovered. This place is like a little maze but each room has a distinctive theme and concept that's pretty cool. The food is amazing as usual. Salad is very fresh and tasty. Perfect lunch/brunch experience.
We always enjoy White Dog Cafe. It's our go-to when visiting our son in Philly.
We love a meal at White Dog when we visit our son at Penn. It’s never a disappointment. They are handling COVID restrictions very well.
Made a reservation for outside at 5:30. Arrived and they said that our reservation was only a “preference” and that we would have to wait 45 minutes to sit outside even though they had 3 benches available outside. They said those are saved for parties of 6 only. Doesn’t make sense that a restaurant would turn away a reservation when you have open tables. Also never heard of a restaurant not honoring a reservation. Very poor customer service, don’t rely on a reservation!!
Fun time. Food was very good!
My only two complaints were that we arrived for our reserved table at 1245 and we had to wait about 30 minutes. Also the toilets could have done with a clean.the food was amazing and our waitress was wonderful
Everyone there was very nice towards us. They accommodated us when we wanted to sit outside because of the nice weather. The food and drinks were reasonably priced and i would definitely go again.
The decor is lovely and the food is very good. The server is very nice but seemed a bit out of sort, forgot the sugar with the coffee and tea and then forgot the spoon. Got message from OpenTable saying we didn't show up for our reservation, which we did. Overall, still a good brunch option near the schools. We will go back the next time we visit the area.
Was lucky to get a reservation on the first nice Friday night of the season, and there was even live music. Food was great and had a fantastic night even though there were just a few service hiccups. Will definitely be going back, and dog friendly was a huge plus!
Generous staff and great drinks/food. A great place for happy hour with a unique ambience.
We sat outside. They seated us at a table near the entrance. It was packed with other diners who stood around us waiting to be seated. They were all wearing masks but I still felt a bit uncomfortable. The food was very good. The carrot ginger soup was particularly memorable. I got the catfish sandwich and my companion got the burger. Both were tasty. I’ve eaten here many times over the years and it is reliably good. I would just suggest rethinking the outdoor table arrangement or moving check in to the outside area.
Beautiful place, love the little cozy dining rooms, food is amazing, great choice of mixed drinks too.
We had a lovely dinner! Everything was absolutely delicious.
We were seated 45 minutes AFTER we arrived on time for our reservation. Food came out lukewarm, and drinks never arrived. Overbooked and over priced.
Very busy brunch so our reservation for 1pm was mor like 1:20 but other than that everything else was fantastic
Fun atmosphere, they were running behind with reservations, so we waited an additional 15 min or so. The rest are great. Food is delicious as any of the Starr restaurants, did not disappoint. I’m also a dog person, which makes the dining room so much more fun
Best place for brunch in the city
Great experience and great service, will return.
The food is amazing here. So delicious and fresh. I felt like we were a little too close to others in a small room though and the waitress touched the water refill pitcher to the rim of the glass, both of which I thought were scary with covid. Also, they had really good music playing elsewhere and we couldn't hear it well in our room. We could hear the conversations of the people at tables next to us. I ordered our burger medium well and it came medium rare. We ate it anyway and it was delicious. I had the beet and a regular salad and my husband had the carrot soup. We also ordered a half portion of the sweet potato gnudi and mushrooms au gratin. And the pretzle bread..omg. Everything was so good. My husband and I are both vaccinated, so I didn't run out the door screaming over the covid stuff, but I think its safer to refill clean glasses from the waitress station rather than taking a pitcher from table to table. The service was good otherwise- our food and drinks came fast and I was starving, so that was nice!
Understaffed, overcooked meat, watery deviled eggs, mushy fries, spices underused/overused. Server did her best. Until I go back, I will give them the benefit of the doubt, and assume these were all symptoms of a ‘bad day’
I enjoy White Dog very much and have been here a handful of times. The most recent time I went, service was slow and the workers were evidently stressed, which I get, it was a lively, warm Saturday evening. But, with that being said, the energy the server was providing made things uncomfortable, telling us that if we know anyone who wants a job to send them to White Dog, something about unemployment, and sarcastically mumbling "my pleasure" when we'd thank them for various things. It was uncomfortable honestly. We kept insisting they take their time and we were in no rush, that we saw how busy it was, but I was pleased to be done our meal and leave. I still recommend White Dog but this was a really off, strange meal time.
lovely! fabulous service. one of my favorite brunch spots in philly.
Great location, great staff, amazing food. Love the dog theme!!
2 out of 4 orders were wrong. Server seemed overwhelmed.
Best brunch I've had in a long time!
Thank you and i would def recommend to all my friends! This was my stomping ground while in grad school in the mid 90's!
I love Sierra (not sure if I’m spelling that correctly) and Sophie. Excellent service!! I will be returning.
28th birthdAY celebrations 🎉
Brunch was amazing. The food and service was amazing.
Food was good. Waitress was good. The boy who delivered our food didn't know which plate had cheese, so he moved the toast with his hands. no-no!!!
I always like dining at White Dog Cafe.
Food was good. Server, Flo, was unfriendly and appeared like she wasn’t thrilled to be working. I was having a business meeting. The restaurant was basically empty. We felt like we were bothering her. Other than that this is a very nice place.
The food here is always a treat! Good COVID protections are in place, and the servers are friendly and conscientious. Please support restaurants!!!!
Delicious food and very attentive service. Will definitely be back again!
Had Sunday brunch. Good menu selection. Tasty food. Downside, they got part of our order wrong (my son ordered a burger, I ordered mushroom soup. The server presented me with an omelette). Was this a big deal? Not initially. But, AT NO POINT did our waiter let me know that the kitchen was getting my order ready. After waiting for what seemed like forever for my soup (correct order) to arrive, I had to ask a waitress (not mine), to ask the waiter serving my table to come over to us so I could ask about the status of my order. Also, my son's burger was starting to cool because he didn't want to start eating before my dish arrived. Did I enjoy the soup? Yes. Was it worth waiting for? Maybe. Was the portion generous for what I paid? No!!
The food was delicious. They also have bottomless mimosas, bloody Mary’s, and sangria.. but only the mimosas were good in my opinion.
New server Justin was very good. Food was excellent!!
It was a last minute lovely night out with friends. The service was top notch and funny. The food is always stellar and this night was no different. We convinced another person, our friend, that White Dog is the s#!t.
Sierra (waitress in training) is a QUEEN. Flo is too. We loved them both. Great bottomless brunch deal and even better service.
Excellent food, subpar service.
