Food was pretty awful, houmous tasted like what I imagine warm cat food tastes like. The flat bread was drowning in warm salsa so was very soggy and lacked halloumi cheese. My partner had the mixed grill which was dry and tasteless. Needless to say I won't bother eating here again unless I take a cat or dog with me. On the plus, beer was nice, garden was nice and the barmaid was very friendly.
went with my daughter who's 9 years old, lovely food, had cuddles on couch outside with pudd, really lovely, looking forward to trying the picnic tables
Food was good, my main down was they are still Iain plastic straws! Really think with all the plastic awareness now this needs to be changed to paper straws or no straws.
Had a meal for our wedding anniversary, courtesy of The White Horse. Food was incredible, service was wonderful. They remembered our wedding day and spoke to us about it which was lovely to reminisce about. Such a wonderful chilled out atmosphere, great staff, will be back again without question :)
Really good food and for a change an excellent gluten-free menu
Outstanding service by waiting team always very helpful and friendly. Great for children with the outside play area which makes this a great family friendly pub.
Having been to The White Horse at Tea Green on a great number of occasions I was very disappointed on this visit. I brought a friend as a treat which made it worse! We had a bottle of sauvignon blanc which was one of the nastiest I had tasted in a long time. My friend commented on inspecting the bottle that it was indeed a very cheap wine that was sold (cheaply I might add) at a local hostelry. The mark up was astonishing. My friend spoke to a member of staff who said as we had opened the bottle there was nothing that could be done. Fair enough...I have learned a lesson. The food came eventually and fortunately my friend said her meal was lovely. Mine was not. How could you get a lasagne so wrong? I have had the same dish here before so I know that it is normally palatable. When paying the bill I commented to the young lady that we had not had a good experience and received 'Oh dear' in response. 'Oh dear' indeed White Horse! Friends had suggested visiting this next week but on relaying my tale you will not be surprised to hear we decided to give it a miss.
Great menu & selection, good value for money. Relaxed, friendly atmosphere.
Overall was really good. We had a long wait between starters and main courses nearly an hour. Also there was no Guinness and no real ale available, which was very disappointing for my dad and brother who’s birthdays we were celebrating. And as it was only Saturday lunchtime it would have coursed problems for people who wanted these beers over the whole weekend. Food was quite good though better than many we’ve been to. Plenty of staff very pleasant and friendly
Last minute date night and well chosen. I'd seen The White Horse Facebook page and liked the look of what they did. I'm glad we ventured over there. Lovely food, great staff, friendly atmosphere. Outside looked great for kids/families. Will definitely go back.
They offer a good pub menu and the “over 60s” option of reduced portion size is excellent value
Good evening meal. A few missing choices off the menu as food had run out. Took a while for food to come out, but wasn't in a rush so didn't matter.
They run out of beer and had to use bottles but charged for the whole bottle but did not use it all in my glass
I booked on line, and the bar staff could not find my booking until someone else helped to find it. The waitress were slow on taking the order, and not aware of the vegetables being served with the roast dinner as there were completely different to what was on the plate. The Lamb was tough and not enough vegetables for my liking. I also thought it was expensive compared with other pubs around.
We treated ourselves to afternoon tea. Absolutely lovely. You definitely should.
Generally quite a good pub but today the glasses were filthy, despite asking for a clean glass the next one was worse than the first. I had nachos and I could have made better myself, the salsa was vile and very obviously out of a bottle and bought in.
Service is always good, the staff are pleasant and polite.
Service was ok food fair dining area could do with an overall.
great food small portions, one time my belly pork dish was normal one too small
The staff were friendly , the Sunday Lunch was poor as thought plated well up for a while like mass production , food was not hot,
First visit to the White Horse, expected better
Can’t fault the service, our waitress was really nice and attentive.
However in terms of value for money we didn’t think the ‘picnic bench’ was worth the money at £22 per head.
The hot food wasn’t fresh, and tasted like it was reheated. The halloumi was very chewy and the chunky chips tasted like they had been under a heat lamp for a while.
Overall a nice place for a drink in nice weather with a decent looking beer garden. However wouldn’t venture there for food again.
Lovely friendly pub with a good menu and great food.
Went yesterday for Business lunch, whilst menu had shrunk, the food was very nice. Comments received was only about the small menu.
Nice log fire though!
The table availability was good. It is closely located to Luton (Wigmore side) and so a quick easy drive from our offices. It was a good all-round location for everyone to go to after work following a strategy day with the team. They could accommodate the party (9 people).
Watch the car park, it is full of pot holes.
The site itself is under the approach for LTN airport if the wind is blowing in a particular direction but surprisingly when in the restaurant, you cannot hear the aircraft.
Upon arrival, we were shown straight to our table. First thing I noticed, nowhere to hand your coat. Secondly, the chairs were really uncomfortable (maybe just tired and in need of re-padding?).
The Menu - price-wise, it was all fairly priced and there was a good offer of 2 or 3 courses at a set price against certain marked items. Luckily, these were very common items so we were not too restricted on what we could have. With a good range of fish, meat and vegetarian/vegan options, the menu card catered for all tastes however the range was not immense and not overly creative. Pretty much another standard pub menu. Steak, burger, fish, pie...that kind of thing.
There was a great range of puddings available - all traditional all-English puddings, served with either ice cream, cream or custard. Warmed where necessary. Brilliant. A nice end to the meal in my opinion.
Portion size - perfect I thought. I didn't come away from that meal feeling that over 3 courses, I had eaten too much. Equally, I wasn't still hungry so definitely getting it right there.
If I had to improve something it would have been the crab cakes - more crab needed and please serve with sweet chilli sauce. It screamed out for that dynamic addition of flavour in my opinion.
Good food. Excellent value for money. Really nice proper pub with good pub food but of a high quality.
It just wasn’t great and the value of the roast dinner at £13 should of been amazing , however it came out cold.
The veg and potatoes needed to be cooked longer. A very simple roast dinner.
Great service, awesome place. Nice staff. Had a great evening. Thank you
Great venue ...good service and exceptionally good tasting food served in some unique ways 😀 thanks to all for an enjoyable afternoon...
The food was lovely but the service was almost nonexistent. It took three and a half hour to be served a two course lunch! There were two waitresses on duty but we were waiting half an hour before our order was taken and almost an hour for our table to be cleared after the first course and then to have our desert order taken. A real shame as I had been looking forward to a rare treat for my birthday.
Friendly staff, quiet location, lovely food, pub has character.
The food was good and we were seated immediately. The food itself is good for the price, and there's a fair selection on offer when they do bring the menus over. However we dined for lunch and from start to finish were there for 2 and a half hours. We went to the bar to get drinks due to the wait to be served, but were asked to sit down and be served. It took so long it get any staff member to serve us. Bringing the food out took a while, and we didnt see anyone to ask for our bill for 20 minutes. When the bill was brought over, we waited another 10-15 mins. When no-one came over, or was around to ask, we went to the bar to pay.
Poor service by the management. Young lady being very honest about delays but no one senior showed there face. 45 minutes to be seated.
We booked for 7 of us as a birthday treat at 1pm for sunday lunch .
We arrived and were told there were a little behind which was fine but 1.30 hours later still no dinner.
Finally it arrived it was ok but not worth the wait.
Then we ordered puddings our grandson had marshmallows in his dessert but thry had run out so had to buy go buy some pubs in a village.then we decided to order a cheesecake platter to share well we shoudnt have bother it was smaller than a 1 person dessert portion.
We weren't the only table to conplain there were 4 other tables who also waited over an hour for mains.
Apparently they were short staffed in the kitchen
We had a lovely Sunday lunch here last weekend lovely roast dinners and very helpful friendly staff.
Absolutely awful from start to finish!
We had a table booked at 5pm got to our table which was right by the door where at least 8 children kept running in & out of opening & shutting the door it was freezing! Parents had no consideration for other people and at that point the staff should have said something!!
It took ages for someone to take our order, and they only came to take our order because I went and asked if someone could take our order! Then when we finally ordered we were told there was no sausage & mash & no pie - this is disgraceful- first of all we had been there for over 20mins and no one told us they weren’t available, second of all this is a tiny restaurant & there’s no excuse to not have something on the menu let alone 2 completely different options not available!!
After we finished our starters we waited over 45 mins for someone to even clean the table!!!!!
Then when I went to the bar to complain they said our food was being plated up at the exact moment! Well it wasn’t - we waited another 10mins for our food - it was the worst dinner I have ever had, beef was so unbelievably chewy, the broccoli was rock hard, potatoes freezing! It was a joke!
Disgusting! Had better roast dinners in Asia!!
We had the roast dinner fondue! Really interesting idea and it was amazing! Would recommend to anyone to try it!
We booked in the afternoon and was quite surprised that we got a booking, we booked at 14:30pm and booked a table for 15:30pm, the roads are quite dodgy and rough as its in the out backs of the farmers fields, parking was good, as we entered we said we have a table booked for 15:30pm, apparently there was a function later and the booking website should have stated that it was taking no further bookings but as it never stated this, the manager said its not an issue we can accommodate, The selection of food was good, I wanted to order the picnic tables but you have to order in advance, and the children's puddings were better than the adults!! we were the last to leave and the staff always made myself, my ex and our children welcome and not rushed, Nice little play area for the kids, I would go again
We have been to the white horse a few times. The food is really nice and staff are friendly. However the last time we visited was a little disapointing. It took a long time for food to arrive (there were only about 3 tables seated at the time we were there) we also had to go to the bar to ask for our plates to be taken and for a dessert menu as no one had been over to us.
This won't stop us gping back again, but hoping we won't be waiting as long.
The food was fabulous, which was as expected as we went because we had eaten before. We really enjoyed the roast fondue. Only let down by the very slow dessert service which took almost an hour. First nobody asked us if we wanted one, finally we were asked and they forgot to bring the menu. Eventually we were asked again by someone else who did bring a menu but it took a long time for someone to come back and take our order. This was the reason why we did not leave a tip.
Customer service was great.
Atmosphere was wonderful.
We had the Portobello mushroom for starters. It was nice but felt it lacked presence, it needed something extra.
I had the Lemon Thyme chicken with root vegetables. However it wasn't very flavoursome. In fact, I couldn't taste the Lemon or thyme. I was also disappointed as there wasn't root 'vegetables' as I only had carrots.
It was our first visit and I had heard great things so I was a little disappointed overall but the ambience was lovely. Perfect for a cosy date night. We did wait a long time to pay the bill after pudding but that in a way was quite nice. Didn't feel rushed at all.
I follow a very strict low carb eating plan and get a 'cheat' day on a Saturday so was very much looking forward to a tasty meal with my partner and it didn't quite live up to expectations. We also rarely get time together without the children so we did have high expectations.
Would I go again? Yes, I would, purely to see if it was an 'off' night as it was extremely busy. The menu, setting and atmosphere lends itself to being a great place to dine so I would book once more before I make a final judgement.
Lovely food, as always! We first attended a Christmas party at Tea Green which was fantastic and kicked off our Christmas 2017!
