White Horse Oyster & Seafood Bar
Brother over from the states, very special evening
We had a lovely dinner at White Horse recently and would highly recommend it. The food was very well prepared and presented. Make sure to make a reservation especially during the summer.
Wonderful food in a beautifully appointed space. Just far enough down the royal mile to not be overrun with clickits and still conveniently located.
Not very generous plates and average quality seafood, however excellent cocktails.
We celebrated my boyfriends birthday and it was just as pleasant as the 1st time we came in, beautiful oysters and lovely service! This is definitely one of our favourite spot in Edinburgh!
If you like seafood, this is the place to go in Edinburgh! Couldn't fault any aspect of the lunch, from the service, to the wine, to the food!
The food is simply sublime. Beautifully fresh fish complimented by some bold flavours that somehow don't overpower. I am now an oyster convert after many years of staying clear of them.
Loved all aspects of the restaurant. Great, fesh food...good service..lovely ambience. We celebrated my friends birthday. She loved it
One of the best seafood restaurants we have been to in Edinburgh. Staff so helpful and professional. Food exceptional . The only criticism was the price of wine, a bit over the top!!! Will definitely be back next time we are in Edinburgh.
Second visit and just as wonderful as the first time!
One of the best seafood restaurant that i've tried in my life
Lovely food. The service was great. I think it’s better if you’re in a big group because the format is sharing plates and if there were only 2 or 3 of you you would ha e less to try.
Open Table did not steer us wrong on this one. Fantastic lunch!
Only issue was we had to wait 20 minutes for our table but were given a seat at the bar to wait. Staff great, food outstanding. Would recommend if you like seafood.
A last minute decision, dined here before the Tattoo. Wow, what a great restaurant!!! Really impressed with format, menu, quality and tons of finesse in the presentation! The chef is very creative while not getting in his own way. High quality seafood, they can cook potatoes (it’s Scotland) , and very friendly service. This place is a gem!
We celebrated my parent's wedding anniversary but also had young children with us...very accommodating for all ages. Great service - very friendly.
Overall: I'm a little disappointed.
Good: Oysters were superb. Wine was perfect. Scallops were fantastic, but only two pieces.
Memediocre: Sea trout appeared to be a smoked salmon slices. Very gentle and nice, but not worth it at all in a fancy restaurant. Sesame tuna was ok.
Bad: Grilled octopus tentacle was ruined and barely edible.
Price: Unjustifiably overpriced tiny portions.
Tip: Go for a platter. You might get more for less.
Quite a nice place and handy for the train. Tables a little too close to each other for our particular liking. Food was tasty but not great portion size for the price. Service was friendly and helpful - the bill was initially wrong but was put right easily enough. It wasn’t special enough for the price, so probably wouldn’t rush back.
Exceptional food and drink, great service and good music. I would go back for special occasions but it's also great for lunch treats and casual drinks at the bar.
We were really tired of hotel food and Scottish cuisine. Read about this place on open table and went in. Portions are small so if you are hungry order more than the 4 plates they suggest for 2. Everything we ate was excellent. Special credit to crab legs and monkfish satay! Felicity served and helped with order suggestions and was a pleasure, but the whole staff was a delight. Not a pretty place but they do really good food. Awesome oysters!
Unusual but delicious sea food loved it service very good loved the lay back atmosphere
We had an awesome experience. We had lunch. And the food was excellent, a very foodie place that we enjoyed. The deserts were amazing and really loved the ambiance.
We started off with fabulous oysters, then went to small plates. We had salmon, tuna, scallops, shrimp tempura and then broccoli. It was all fantastic and a great taste
sensation. Go to this restaurant.
Delicious food, excellent service and great location. My new favourite
Food was a bit pub grub but the place and staff where fantastic
Hi,We had a couple of dishes of oysters which were very nicely presented and were quality but we also ordered scallops which we thought were well overpriced,£12.50 for 2
Super hip atmosphere , popular even on Tuesday evening ,
Very nice service and Oyster are delicious!
Ordered other food eg octopus , scallops and seared tuna , portion super small but price are expensive , disappointed about the octopus, it’s size is small but yet grilled too dried.
Other food are all great . Excellent on dessert as well .
Been there once, went back again the next day. Keep up the good work . Cheers
Excellent quality seafood. The grilled octopus is delicious and the House Platter is well worth the price - we struggled to finish it. Great cocktail and drinks menu. Highly recommend.
This was by far one of the best meals we had on our trip to Scotland and Ireland. The oysters were superb. The scotch egg was so good we ordered a second round. The cocktails were phenomenal. My mother who rarely drinks actually had 3. They were able to seat our table of 6 comfortably. I highly recommend for seafood lovers.
Amazing staff, food and ambience. My husband loved his anniversary treat. Many thanks to those who took care of us!
lunch with reservations was excellent. Dinner reservations are a must. Enjoy some outstanding dishes anywhere..
Generally very good , portions a bit small , one small leg of octopus as a serving ? really ??
we waited quite a long time for couple of plates... and getting attention for water etc took a few attempts..not a particularly busy evening.
The food was incredible and worth the wait!
Fantastic meal - best food in Edinburgh, and Oyster Happy Hour is the best deal. Charred Octopus was life-changing.
Food is excellent, service is friendly and professional. Went there on three different occasions during a five day stay in Edinburgh and enjoyed it each time. Try the scallops and the tuna.
The food and the atmosphere was good but I didn’t appreciate being told by a waiter to watch where I was going on my way out of the restaurant because he almost walked into me with a tray of food and I expected bigger portion sizes for being told by a waitress that everything on the menu was designed to be a sharing platter
Great place, music was a bit loud and we had to raise voices to be heard which at lunchtime was a little off putting. Lovely food though, the monkfish satay is amazing!!
Arrived to the restaurant and received a warm welcome after traveling up from Newcastle, staff gave me and my girlfriend two complimentary glasses of prosecco which immediately set the mood for a good night, staff were very polite smiley and attended to our every needs, we chose the platter and werent disappointed, everything was beautiful especially the nduja oysters, overall it was the ultimate dining experience and would recommend to anyone to try this place out, when visiting Edinburgh in the future we will definitely be returning. A*
