Wiggins Tavern - Hotel Northhampton
First time dining here. We arrived early to try and get a drink from the bar but it was full with other patrons.
We sat at 5:30p to an empty dining room and paid the check at 7:30 to only half occupancy full restaurant. It was a long dinner service.
Started with 2 appetizers, then came out salads. Main course finally had come out an hour after ordering, everything was great - just a very spaced between courses.
We went the day after Christmas for cozy and quiet. Sat by the big fireplace and ordered appetizers and wine. It was perfect after the holiday rush. Loved the crabcakes sautéed in spinach as well as the scallops, and artichoke dip. Definitely plan to go again for a rest and relaxation.
Second time we’ve been here and have had a good experience each time. Steaks and sides were excellent. Stay away from the ethnic dishes. Ordered an Indian dish that wasn’t very good. Cocktails are delicious.
A bit disappointed cold rainy night no fire in the fireplace, very very under staffed but Sara the bartender and Ian did an amazing job without support.
How can the management miss proper staffing with the night of a concert across the street “Boz Scaggs” having a sold out event.
I’m actually confused with the lack of attention the owner and manager showed....
Food was excellent, and Sara was amazing just disappointed with management.
There was an event in a private dining room, so the main dining room was understaffed, thus service was slow. Our waiter was fine when at our table. The food was good, not great, and the chef definitely has to go back to risotto school! I didn’t feel my experience at the restaurant was as good as it was in the past.
Ate in the bar when it seemed quiet and that became a mistake as it got busier. Was loud and bartender was too busy to provide good service.
Restaurant is dark, carpet is dirty and the food was terrible and overpriced. The only good thing was our server who was very nice and attentive.
Ordered the Seafood Ciopinno. Great flavor, however within an hour after consumption, I became violently ill. There must have been some tainted shellfish. I will go back, however I won't order that dish again.
Food was disappointing ordinary. Just a small upgrade over an Applebee’s chain restaurant. The red velvet cake was obviously frozen and thawed. Ambiance is wonderful. Location is excellent if your going to the Calvin Theater.
I booked this reservation unable to get two of the times that I preferred, leading me to believe it was fairly popular. As it turns out, we were the only ones there in the entire restaurant. There were people at the bar, but no other diners. The food was mediocre the service was mediocre. The presentation was sloppy and a bit tacky. I certainly wouldn’t recommend this place.
Had a wonderful experience dinning out for our 11th wedding anniversary. Located in the busy downtown area of Northampton, MA, was concerned with parking problems. Strongly recommend valet parking! Very courteous service is provided! Even though the lot was full because of a wedding reception that night, attendants made every effort to take care of us. Parking is free!
Food was ok. The lobster roll needed to be filled with more meat less onion.
We had an enjoyable meal. Our waitress was excellent, friendly & efficient! It was my girlfriend & our night out--we went to Calvin to see the Bobby Bones Show. Totally convenient to eat & walk over to the Calvin. Would do it again.
Great place for a special meal that doesn't cost $$$. The food was fabulous. I would suggest hiring a few more wait staff. The waitress we had seemed to be everywhere, including the hotel lobby to serve drinks to guests.
New discovery for us in Western Mª. Very friendly people, beautiful surroundings and tasty food, generous portions
Excellent as always. One of my friends and I could not wait to consume Indian Pudding for dessert! There are only 3 places in MA of which I know serving it, and Wiggins Tavern is one. We were treated so kindly, and enjoyed the special attention that the staff is trained to provide. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone!
Wiggins was a little off its game for this visit. Table service was great, except for a little spill when my entree was set down that wasn't really tended to (hence the 4-stars). My wife's steak was overcooked, she asked for medium rare and got medium well. They comped her entire meal and she enjoyed the stuffed shrimp. My scallops with crab risotto was also overcooked, with overly saucy risotto containing nary a trace of crab.
Dessert was excellent, flourless chocolate torte done perfectly and their signature bread pudding didn't disappoint either. We've been many times before, and I know the restaurant can do better, so I'll chalk this up to a bad night. We'll be back.
Everything was good except the entre. We order scallops and they were over cooked. Very disappointing. We found the prices a little bit high for the quality. But overall enjoyed the atmosphere and service.
Wonderful Old New England ambiance and great service! We had a very enjoyable meal.
Great Service and Terrific Food!!
We both ordered the filet mignon,(medium rare.) It was just under "well done" and had a strange mealy texture. Everything else was very good.
Great place great food
The food was reasonably tasty. Perhaps sliglty below the price level.
Service was not good. There was a large wedding going on so we assumed that was the reason. I try to give the benefit but it was questionable.
We actually ended up at the garden in the same hotel because I wanted a sandwich and fries before going to the show across the street. It was great fresh grilled chicken with avocados cheese greens and a special sauce on awesome roll. Loved the fries which I was craving. Service was a little slow but there was a wedding in the other side of the hotel that night. We saw the bride and groom doing a photo shoot in the middle of the street during our dinning which was very interesting. Definitely coming back to this hotel. Great location.
