As always lovely food and a lovely atmosphere in this gem of a place. Just sometimes (we are regular visitors) the service feels overstretched, not due to the staff just that they cold do with more people. We waited over 5 mins to be greeted when we arrived and had to go to the bar to get the bill and wait while drinks were served to pay. Again, just felt understaffed, those that were there were great and food is amazing as always.

Fantastic meal as always!
However, on this visit we did have to wait along time from start to finish for our order to be taken, food to arrive, table cleared, we are still waiting for our extra drinks! We know that this was no fault of our waiting on staff, she was absolutely amazing, she never stopped trying to keep up with everything & apologising, what was needed was more staff on the day to help out!
We will be back x

Had Sunday lunch while holidaying in the area and it was delicious. Vegetarian option really nice and even with vegetarian gravy - most places don't provide this so it was really nice that it felt like a proper Sunday dinner! Husband not vegetarian and said beef was done to perfection. Desserts OK - could have had been presented a bit better - ice cream piled up in a sundae dish which just melted into each other but tasted good all the same. Bit noisy with kids but only bothered as ours are grown up so can't complain really. Few dogs in which didn't bother us but some might not like it. Staff really great - very helpful and friendly - will definitely go back if in that area.

Lovely pub, great location We were a bit disappointed in the quality of the food. The soufflé was more souflat and the cheese sauce insipid. The sausage roll was tasty but came with a free lettuce leaves from a bag of lettuce that was unnecessary. The fish and chips were nice but really disappointed in the steak and ale cobbler. It was a bowl of stew with two, tiny tasteless scones. So, food was mixed. The servers were delightful and the ambience pleasant but would not rush back for food.

What a fabulous place, we enjoyed a lovely evening a wonderful meal and an overnight stay in a gorgeous romantic room, the hotel and gardens are quirky and luxurious, it’s no wonder it’s a highly rated wedding venue, breakfast was great too, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit and were impressed and appreciative of the extra touches here and there, we will most definitely be back xoxoxoxo

This is a lovely pub with pub grub and ideal for anyone who has a massive appetite. My starter was a haggis and sausage roll, it was tastey but should be described as sausage and haggis as it was lacking on the haggis. Portion oversized. My partner had the squid which was also nice but to much as far as portion sizes go. I had fish and chips, whilst the menu did say large it was again far too large a portion and not worth £16.95. I'm sure some people would be overjoyed with the portion size and say it was value for money. Boyfriend had a steak and ale dish, he did say it was nice but not well presented. My choice off the menu was maybe not the right one on the night for me, which is my own fault. Food aside the drinks were okay but a tad overpriced. Oh and the wedding guests kept going to and from the bar in the pub as I'm guessing the service in the wedding was too slow. All that said the staff were courteous and pleasant and the pub must be doing something right as it was extremely busy. I'm sure we would call in again if we're in the area.

Lovely food, and great staff. Great PornStar Martinis! Lack of places to relax and sit if not dining. No real ambiance, it's a pub not a restaurant.

It has a nice and easy ambience creating a relaxed feel. A good selection of drinks are available including local beers & cocktails. Expresso Martini & Ameretto Sour are recommended. Menu has an average variety of dishes, we had fish & chips which the table felt was over cooked but okay. Gnocchi with Spinach & Wild Mushrooms was good. Service was pleasant but slow. From previous experience, when there is a function on this affects the quality of service & food within the pub.

Not enough staff serving for a peak time like Sunday lunch. No one to greet us on arrival to show us to our table, had to try to find a waitress who was clearly rushed off her feet. We were sat down for 20minutes before anyone took our drinks order. We had to ask waitresses twice if we could order our food. Waitress who was not serving our table eventually took our order with no apology. 10minutes later the waitress who was meant to be serving our table asked to take our order, we explained we’d ordered already & there was no apology again she just said, “oh right thank you, I appreciate that. It’s manic here today.” ?!
We expected it to be busy on a Sunday lunchtime, but as such they should put more staff on.
We got married at le Petit Cheateau & this was the first time visiting the venue again since, such a shame we didn’t have the best dining experience.

Main course was excellent but the dessert was very disappointing. The staff were lovely but they were very short handed which made the service very slow. There was no running water on the premises the afternoon we were there which probably didn’t help.

I ordered a steak. It was dry and not a very good standard. The mussels were tiny and everything else was average.
Went the next for lunch and the sandwiches were much better. Seems a bit crazy that the cheapest thing on the menu is better than the most expensive.
