A veritable Cotswolds institution for over forty-five years, William’s has recently benefitted from a full-scale refurbishment of both the restaurant and shop area in January 2020.
Alongside a 64-cover new restaurant sits a new fish counter displaying an outstanding range of fresh seafood, delivered daily from Scotland and the South West coastline. The adjacent delicatessen offers a large selection of chef-prepared meals, cheeses, charcuterie and terrines as well as fresh fruit and vegetables.
We are proud to have been voted one of Matthew Fort’s ‘Five Favourite Places to Shop’ and one of Rick Stein’s ‘Food Heroes’.

Incredible experience, everything from start to finish was flawless. Great covid rules, enough social distancing. Food was the best I had in a restaurant in a very long time. Not very cheap but my god, I would gladly pay the same amount everyday if I could just to eat like we did here.. Service was very good. We will definitely go back
Loved going there ..great food ...friendly staff ....Covid aware and made us feel safer ...
Williams has always been a good place to eat. The revamped and extended restaurant allows a better layout. The food and service were excellent again, this must be the best place for fish lovers in Gloucestershire.
Always a pleasure to eat here - lovely food, lovely staff
Excellent standard . Well looked after. Food as usual to the same high standard
Would highly recommend William's. We have never had a disappointing meal or experience. I noted on the booking that it was to celebrate a birthday and was really moved when two glasses of sparkling wine were produced, followed later by a rendition of 'Happy Birthday' and a little sticky toffee pudding, topped with a candle.
We really appreciated it and will be booking again for our Supper Club evening for six, later in November.
Well done to to everyone, in these difficult times.
Fabulous Saturday lunch
Lovely casual service
Sarah was supreme as always
Always impressed with the fish dishes, but my wife, who is a vegetarian, finds the menu very limited and uninspiring. I appreciate it is a fish restaurant, but it would be great to have more than one vegetarian option for the starter and main course.
An evening of relative normality at the reliably good Williams in Nailsworth. As a table of 6 including 2 teenagers we were well looked after, service was quick and efficient (although one waitress was less than cheerful but we can forgive this as who would want to wear a mask all evening?). Food was excellent as always, we will continue to return regularly.
Such a lovely evening with husband and 3 children celebrating daughters 16th birthday. Lovely food, lovely atmosphere and lovely staff couldn’t ask for a better evening or service. Thank you all.
Food was great. Soup to start. Lovely hot fish for main. Delicious red mullet & hake. Very good service. Long list of wines by the glass. Bought some fish on the way home for the weekend!
Very good very fresh fish and seafood, simply cooked with some more complex dishes.
This place is absolutely perfect for any meal, not cheap, but really good.
Probably the best fish restaurant for a 100miles.
Only a very very small gripe.
Dont spray tables, spray cloth, from a londoner who knows.
The service was great, we were there for a big birthday and the team were lovely 😊, food was amazing left very full on just two courses
My friend and I really enjoyed our meal . The staff were lovely even though we just ordered the cheapest things on the menu. The food was excellent!
Excellent food and prompt service.
I had scallops to start followed by mackerel and hubby had oysters then giant prawns. All pipping hot and beautifully presented.
We were a party of four - some really enjoyed their meal, others weren’t as impressed. One dish was missing the chips, but my friend was only offered a drink, which he didn’t really want, for the inconvenience. The drink brought over was then not what he ordered. It was a pleasant atmosphere though, and overall the food was good.
We have been to William's a few times and as always the food and service all excellent
It was amazing 🥰
Many thanks 🙏
A really good moment at your restaurant...
your food was incredible
Would highly recommend visiting Williams, food was amazing!
We have been before last year for the first time what a gem,you lucky people of Nailsworth. We stay in Painswick but pre booked a table the food was amazing and service spot on very friendly.
Lovely ambience and surroundings. Well-designed and recently refurbished interior. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. We felt very comfortable and at ease. An excellent menu with a variety of choices for a light meal or something more substantial.
Absolutely fabulous! Excellent menu and delicious food. I love Williams as it’s a place for serious foodies but without being stuffy or too formal. I haven’t had dinner there yet, however I hope to soon. Five out of five!!
The food was absolutely delicious and the fish as fresh as could be! A real treat. Lovely staff too. Thankyou. Particularly special in these difficult times.
Really warm welcome, delicious food and great service. I thoroughly recommend William's.
Really lovely staff and great seafood - would definitely recommend!
Great food, staff friendly and efficient. Atmosphere lacked something
We love Williams & hadn’t been since they’d reopened. Well managed & tables spaced well apart. The food was amazing - a wonderful menu that tantalised the tastebuds. For fish & seafood lovers, this restaurant is heaven! A great wine menu to accompany the dishes. Very friendly welcoming staff. All in all a fabulous dinner. We’ll be back soon.
An very enjoyable lunchtime treat. Busy and relaxed time.
We booked to celebrate our wedding anniversary and were pleasantly surprised to be asked about the special occasion and then to given a glass of champagne each with the menus. Together with the excellent food and service this made the occasion very special for us. Many thanks the everyone involved.
Friendly, casual atmosphere, helpful efficient staff and excellent, I mean excellent food!
Have been going to this restaurant for years, the food is excellent although a little pricey
the ambience has improved as it has been upgraded recently which makes it even a better experience
Lovely food and reasonably priced - staff very attentive and Covid aware - highly recommend the crab soup starter. Would return if ever in the area again.
The food was of good quality, very tasty, nicely cooked and well presented. The restaurant had a pleasant ambience and is well situated in the centre of Nailsworth.
The price reflected the quality.
Fantastic food, great service, a go to destination!
Always super food and lovely team, we are regulars and love eating here, if you love fish then this is the place, and if you don’t then other nice choices including vegetarian.
A welcoming atmosphere with excellent service. Food was absolutely delicious, as it always has been on every visit. Would thoroughly recommend and will be back again!
Excellent, would definitely recommend. Visited at lunchtime
Delicious fish in a quiet, relaxed atmosphere where two old friends could have a private heart-to-heart.
Really lovely mussels and wine lunch, staff very friendly and accommodating.
This was our 3rd visit and will definitely be returning soon.
