A veritable Cotswolds institution for over forty-five years, William’s has recently benefitted from a full-scale refurbishment of both the restaurant and shop area in January 2020.
Alongside a 64-cover new restaurant sits a new fish counter displaying an outstanding range of fresh seafood, delivered daily from Scotland and the South West coastline. The adjacent delicatessen offers a large selection of chef-prepared meals, cheeses, charcuterie and terrines as well as fresh fruit and vegetables.
We are proud to have been voted one of Matthew Fort’s ‘Five Favourite Places to Shop’ and one of Rick Stein’s ‘Food Heroes’.

Loved it Thank you
I told Williams when I booked on-line that my wife has an allergy to the onion family and could they please offer her a decent selection of dishes from which she could choose something. When we arrived I asked what would offered to my wife and they knew nothing about it, not impressed. Our waitress was brilliant. The starters, Oysters and Scallops were excellent, the main courses, Crab tart and Fish soup pretty average.
Fantastic food, good venue. The service was patchy one waitress fantastic another not so good.Would recommend you try it.
I’ve heard so many good things about Williams so I had very high expectations! It was just as we hoped for and more. Delicious food, perfectly cooked and the staff were so lovely and attentive. Would highly recommend and will definitely return…
Food was, as always, good, but the service has deteriorated. Numerous minor issues such as having to ask for spoons for soup and trying to take plates away before we had finished the food.
When presenting a credit card to pay the bill,, I asked the waitress to add a 10% tip, she asked for cash instead, without any explanation. This has happened before at Williams. Not sure if this is because their card machine can't process tips separately or because the owners take part of the tips.
Very good food as always. Lovely to have this gem of a restaurant close by
Slightly overly attentive so we felt a bit rushed through the meal. However delightful staff good food and lovely ambience. Would recommend.
We sat outside on a beautiful day - it was the perfect lunch. The food was delicious, staff delightful, and the overall ambience thoroughly enjoyable. We will be back!
Well worth a visit, The fish selection is exceptional, helped by a couple of charming waitresses
Fantastic food, well prepared and the staff were very friendly
Fantastic as ever and managed to get an outside table on a very hot day! All enjoyed out meals, Oysters, lobster for my youngest step-daughter, Tuna steaks for Husband and Older daughter. I had the monkfish scampi and all extremely tasty. Lovely bottle of light Rose the trickle of the river/brook very, very lovely indeed. Our fourth visit and as ever impressive. See you all again soon!
Food was wonderful, we had the sole and the hake. Just beautiful. Picpoul was reasonably priced and delicious. Service was slow to begin with as it took 20mins to be served. However they did bring us water whilst we waited and I appreciate it was busy. Once the team realised we were waiting service was top notch and friendly until the end of our visit. Beautiful location.
Helpful and attentive staff, excellent food, well prepared and presented. Good ambiance. All in all an excellent experience.
Sat outside in a lovely shady spot…..food fantastic and excellent service
Excellent food and atmosphere. The only minor issue was the rather abrupt way the young waitress prompted for a tip!
Booked this on a whim while in Nailsworth - what a great spot. Fantastic range of fresh seafood, lovely setting and great staff. Would definitely recommend
Wonderful setting gorgeous food and prompt and friendly service! We are looking forward to going there again soon!
Lovely atmosphere, very helpful and efficient staff, very good food and varied choice.
The food and service was excellent which we remembered about previous visits to Williams Kitchen. The sea food dishes were exceptional with a good selection to choose from. We would definitely recommend you trying this fabulous establishment.
Amazing as usual. Great food and atmosphere. Would recommend.
Unfortunately it took over an hour before our starter was delivered . No charge was offered for the starters but still appeared on the bill - and was paid by my guest who is. From Germany and did not spot the error
I visit Williams kitchen any time I am in nailsworth and am never disappointed
I'd highly recommend Williams - amazing seafood, fantastic service from very friendly staff! Can't wait for an excuse to come back again!
Excellent fresh seafood served by friendly, helpful staff. Very reasonably priced too. Well worth a visit.
Amazing food, service and ambience. Thank you so much
Superb and delicious food, lovely welcome and great service as always, thank you.
We are regular customers and the service and food quality are always very good. Nice wine list too.
We are local, eat here often, always great. New menu this time - really good. Only good things to say by way of recommendation.
This is the best restaurant we have been in Stroud area.
Nice decor, lovely stuff and delicious food. We would definitely go back! :)
This was our first visit and was truly wonderful. We were greeted with a complimentary glass of Prosecco on arrival and wished Happy Anniversary. Lovely touch. Food was exquisite although my husbands Turbot was on the small side (as commented by the waitress) but tasted beautiful. The Fish Soup for starters is divine. We asked if the chef would do a “Take Out” and he did so we will be having that for our lunch today. Well done Williams for such a wonderful dining experience. We shall return!!!
For a Friday lunch outdoors this was a very agreeable experience.
Friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere and superb food.
I would recommend without hesitation.
Service at start was v good. After our mains were cleared we were pretty much abandoned. We had to ask for service to order coffee and then for the bill. It took so long after the bill was presented that I ended up leaving the table to pay at the bar. Totally love this place and the food is outstanding - please just improve the service and then you will be faultless!
Excellent good to see all is as it was before lockdown.
lunch was very enjoyable, service very good. Sitting outside on the top deck, my husband slipped on the steps. I feel there should be a hand rail as a safety feature.
As ever William's provides a wonderful fish menu - great selection and every item a tempting first class. Always look forward to returning
I have been going to Williams since the very beginning years ago.
I took 3 friends yesterday and we had a feast and a very jolly time.
Incredible value for money.
But I live in Bath and cannot go that often. Bummer.
Williams is reliable for quality, freshness and good service.
Amazing seafood, We had oysters, mussels and the crab and lobster gratin. Every dish was great and service was outstanding. Definitely a must-visit in nailsworth!
