Lovely relaxing Sunday Brunch. Great food and friendly staff
Very loud indeed. Proper acoustics should be essential. My duck with cumquats main course was of minuscule proportions. More cumquats than duck. I left hungry.
When I visit a new restaurant my simple judgement is “Would I visit again?” Sadly in this case “No”.
Had a fantastic experience. Service was amazing - the staff went out of their way to accomodate my dietary needs and did so with a smile. The food was absolutely delicious - that steak!! Yum!!! Highly recommend!
Limited menu made worse by them running out of their signature dish by 7:30pm on a quiet Saturday night. Variable service and overpriced. A very fatty and ordinary slow cooked lamb shoulder at $80. Other dishes also lacklustre.
The fit out is modern and the service was good, however the food was completely lack lustre. Did not help that one of the few mains was not available (at 6.30/7.00pm?).
The Banoffee Pie was a modern version that completely missed the mark also-terrible. We were left feeling like we wasted our money.
Sadly we will not be returning- too many other fabulous places to dine at in Melbourne.
Disappointing overall. Food choices limited and average.
We booked a special family dinner based on a friends recommendation, so happy we did!
The decor, staff, enticing cocktail, wine and food menus all contributed to an outstanding occasion.
The lamb shoulder and chicken were mouthwatering, the staff knowledgeable and helpful without smothering us.
I would definitely recommend Wilson & Market and will return to sample more from the menu and cocktail list.
Quality food, thoughtfully presented. A true representation of paddock to plate dining . Our waiter was personalable, great with our kids and totally knew his product. When I came unstuck at the overwhelming choice of gin & gin cocktails the bar staff were there in a flash to make recommendations. Overall it was an exceptional dining experience.
Would get 5 stars but the service is definitely lacking. Drinks and food are excellent....worth the wait. And be prepared to wait. Service is slow and poorly organized. Food carries this place.
For us a fantastic new find! Food, Service & Atmosphere were great. I can personally recommend the Twice baked Jerusalem artichoke & Roquefort cheese souffle with hazelnuts, wood grilled figs & truffle honey & the Wood-fired Roast chicken with biodynamic gem salad, garlic croutons, pancetta, sweetcorn & tarragon. The Dessert tasting plate was also to die for. The food was superbly cooked and the taste was divine. Service was excellent. For us, it was a fantastic experience and we will return again and again. Thank you to all the staff for great service and great tasting food.
Had the farm to table menu for a dinner with colleagues
Delicious food and really good value
Plenty of food and service was great
New favorite restaurant. Great food, service, and aesthetic. Only obvious improvement could be the play list.
Delicious dinner. The set 2 or 3 course meals are great value. The parsnip hummus dish was outstanding.
We had the $40 express lunch menu which included 2 courses and a glass of wine.
Value doesn't quite cover it ........there was far too much food!
I had the lamp balls with humous followed by a remarkable pork and fennel risotto which was delicious albeit extremely rich.
My wife a a fish cake which was almost the size of her open hand and 3 cms thick followed by the burger.
Neither of us could finish the food. In future we will only order the one course.
There is a nearby French establishment that does a prix fixe lunch for $35 and the food is the same as the normal menu only smaller portions. It just makes more sense.
As mentioned the portions at W & M were simply too large for a 2 course lunch....and I consider myself a large eater.
Service was generally good and we will definitely put the venue on our list as we are locals and there is a dearth of quality eateries in the area.
Really enjoyed my first visit to this restaurant. My friend and I went for lunch and found the ambience very pleasant. The "Express" 2 courses with a glass of wine was good value at $40. The menu had many tempting choices and the wine was excellent. The baked spiced cauliflower was amazing and the duck dish, although a tad salty, was delicious. The staff were attentive and friendly and explained the menu as needed. Overall, the experience was impressive.
This restaurant was recommended to me and I shall certainly come back again. Thank you.
Great food some of the serves were generous and some small. Good wine list. Staff were good but service was very slow. My fish was a little overdone and cold. Still delicious Ambience is nice but acoustics are terrible and noise is a problem
The initial staff person that greeted up was not friendly. I needed to ask if our coats could be hung up.
We order drinks and then we waited 30+ minutes for our first round of drinks - 3 G&Ts and 1 bloody Mary. Not a great way to kick off a meal. A staff person did come and apologise after about 15 - 20 minutes for the delay.
Food was good and came promptly as did the wine that we subsequently ordered.
We ordered dessert and once again a staff member came to apologise for the delay as it seems our order had not been placed or some such thing. Another delay - not a problem as we had been well fed and were drinking wine!
Food was not that great. The chicken was good. The lamb was a bit dry. The waiter was okay but could have been better.
Second visit, again great friendly service, nice menu and great atmosphere. Will be back again.
fantastic food, ambiance, service. we will be back, for dinner next time.
Wonderful night out. Wilson and market is our new go to local dining option when we are after something special.
The service was excellent- couldn’t do enough for you - friendly and relaxed
The staff were wonderful. The food was authentic, original and very tasty. We are looking forward to going again.
W&M does food in a way that makes you savour the experience of eating. From the crockery to the service and of course the food, there's a level of care that's often missing from dining experiences. Staff are attentive and conversant in all aspects of the menu, theyre humble and supportive in you ordering what's best for you. I love it here !
Group of eight staff fantastic at suggesting food and wine ... great night
Delightful and delicious Good Friday lunch. Great food, music and ambience. Only downside was the moody waitress - having a bad day..
The expected outdoor eating experience was not available
The service was poor; water not replenished
Very little calamari in the dish of that name; parsley salad was tough ; overall dish too spicy
Always enjoy a visit to Wilson & Market. Great food, excellent wines and fantastic service.
Especially loved sitting in the bench seat area - not as noisy as other parts of the restaurant.
It was my first visit to Wilson and Market, although my friends raved about it, and I was not disappointed. The service was exemplary - polished by unpretentious. We had a shared meal - I'm a food lover and the flavours and presentation was fantastic. We met for a drink at the front lounge area before dinner which had a great casual vibe.
I will definitely be back - actually going to go there soon with my husband and would definitely feel comfortable recommending it to friends.
Wonderful service and nice eatery while visiting the market. Only downside was the calamari was quite rubbery.
Amaaaaazing! Portions weren't huge but just means you get to taste more ;)
Food is of high quality, service great. Just lacks a little ambience- perhaps too quiet?
Went with a group of friends. Half the group were vegetarian. The menu catered beautifully for all. The food was delicious
Delicious food that looks great but is also satisfying. Generous portions. You definitely don't leave hungry from this restaurant. Service was spot on. Menu structure is a little confusing would be my only gripe. Seemed a bit hard to work out how to plan the meal. The truffled egg polenta was the standout dish for me. Delucious! Will definitely be back.
We went to Wilson & Market for my birthday.
Everyone loved their meal. The chicken, steak, polenta, fish etc...
I think we tried everything on the menu.
A great night. Attentive, knowledgeable and helpful staff.
You can actually hear everyone talking. Fantastic !!
A must visit restaurant.
The 5 course seafood dinner set menu was outstanding, as was the professional service and restaurant design. Loved this place.
Very enjoyable, professional, high quality.. the right amount of attentive service and discreet observation from a distance.. our first dinner at The brasserie
12.30 lunch, roast chicken—not ready. Biscotti accompanying coffee— still baking.
Steak sandwich flavours— conflicting flavours from mayo and pickles(too sour) and beef (too salty).
Summer salad of poached tuna— tuna was chewy and dry. Either poach or smoke, not both. Result was almost like canned tuna, only without the tinny or smoked smell.
Woodfired squid salad was delicious, but at $28 for a large, it was quite small.
Highlight was the seaweed butter that came with the sourdough, which was also quite good.
Overall, I wouldn’t recommend. Needs to get their act together before opening for the day, as it does not look good to not have signature dishes available to order.
Otherwise, at least state that pre-order is required, or not available for lunch.
Wilson & Market had been on my must do list for a while & I was reminded by a friend's positive review.
My husband & I were not disappointed. It delivered on all fronts - friendly professional service, great drinks & wine service, interesting delicious food & presentation not based solely on 'Instagram worthiness'!
We will definitely recommend it to our friends & hope to return to taste more options 😊
All excellent but the place is a little noisy as I am finding with the decor of many new fit-outs.
