Outstanding food. Consistently the best place to eat out in Bristol. Attentive and freindly staff talk you through each course and accompanying wines. Ever-changing menus bringing you the seasonal and local delights that Jan and his team conjure up into a magical delight. Melt in the mouth steamed trout, heavenly red mullet and the most delicious Kune Kune pork I have ever eaten. No wonder you have to book early to get a table.
Probably the best restaurant in Bristol.
Outstanding cooking at bargain prices. Lovely service too.
The food was incredible and the service was perfect. What a treat! We will look forward to returning.
We had a superb meal but it was too rushed as we had to vacate after 2 hours prompt.
Jan and his team never fail to impress. One of my favourite restaurants in Bristol. Gets better every time. Jerusalem artichoke dish and trout dish were the stars of the show.
Since the introduction of the "Set Menu" the quality of the dining experience has reached an even higher level, although that may seem impossible based on the previous quality offering which was, frankly, excellent. Now the food is superb
Off the clock food, so inventive, incredible quality everything, great, friendly and highly informed waiting staff. The owner and chef is open and warm. We love this place....
Really good and personal service
The welcome felt warm and genuine
7 course fixed menu was varied innovative and delicious
My only negative was the time between the courses was too short
I do not wish to write another review. It is annoying to be asked this repeatedly.
Excellent all round. Fab staff, fab ambience, mad chef!!! Great and interesting food.
Fantasitc food accopanied by some lovely and interesting wines from around the world, will definately be going back soon. Well done to Jan and the Wilson's team.
Innovative and excellent food! Good service, perhaps more explanation than needed...
Was going to go for the fixed price lunch menu but when I saw the other delicious things on the menu I went for the four courses. It was all delicious! Jan and the staff were really helpful. Highly recommended!
As always, nice food and excellent service. Plat de jour is of unbeatable value.
wilson s is a fantastic restaurant - made even easier with just the 7 taster menu!!
I m looking forward to going again!
Great food and wine pairings Only criticism would be not much,if any time, between courses to relax. Maybe think about reducing to six courses and allowing a bit more time.
An eating experience for foodies. We had the wine flight as well which added to the experience. The knowledge and enthusiasm of the staff was amazing. Thank you for a very enjoyable evening.
Wilsons is a firm favorite in Bristol, one of the best resteraunts, and if you haven't been, do! you wont be disappointed
Excellent quality food and service. Third time dining here and simply superb.
Unbelievable tasting menu and great service! Will be back
Food superb. Great ambiance and great staff. Love that it’s unpretentious and relaxed
Truly a hidden gem in Bristol. 😋👌🏻🤤
Brilliant food, beautifully presented. We went for the 7 course tasting menu! 🍷
Atmosphere is really nice and relaxed with creative, exquisite dishes that packs a real flavour punch.
Love the squab pigeon that was tender, moist and rich in taste drizzled with gravy served alongside with beetroot puree.🍴🐟🥬
The rhubarb soufflé was the best sweet I have had in any restaurant ever, fluffy and well balanced sweetness!🍮💯🍦
⭐️ Dishes would be the Jerusalem artichoke, pigeon with beetroot and souffle!
Service was informative, clear and prompt.
If you’re looking for something different from the usual like rabbit(slightly too exotic for me) and pigeon dishes, don’t hesitate to head down and try!
Friendly staff & Great service! 💯💯
Utterly outstanding. Amazing staff. Unbelievable chefs.
Everything there from the staff to the chefs is about passion. It's truly remarkable.
The food will knock you for 6.
A splendid evening with superb dishes, excellent service, happy atmosphere. Many thanks.
Wilson's absolutely delivered. The food was fantastic, all 7 courses, and the service was attentive and informed, while relaxed and friendly.
We'll definitely return.
Food, set menu and paired wines were interesting, innovative and provided a wonderful experience for the palate.
The staff demonstrated their delight in their jobs and the quality produce that they served. All together it was a superior service at an affordable price.
Amazing...front of house we’re super knowledgeable and friendly and the food was out of this world!!
Lucky people having this as a neighbourhood restaurant. We had the full 7 course tasting menu, which was very well balanced, with each course well thought out, well presented and each tasted great. Thought the hogget course, and the apple and dill oil desert were stand-out dishes. The place has a welcoming atmosphere, not at all stuffy, and all the staff were friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. My only issue was with the wine list. We tried three different wines, and none of them outstanding - think the list could be improved. Moreover, wine bought by the glass cam from bottles that had been open for a good day or more so the wine was slightly oxidised. This is a perennial problem when buying wine by the glass in restaurants so always best to buy a bottle unless you are reassured that the wine has only very recently been opened. Even so, this is super restaurant and I look forward to returning.
Yet another stunning meal from Jan and his team. The taster menu is to die for! Don't hold back - go all the way and add the wine flight - you won't regret it!
Best food in Bristol - by far!
Amazing food, which was delicious and interesting without being overtly wacky or anything. But the atmosphere and staff really made it. Both we're spot on: really informed and attentive staff and a lively environment. Definitely 100% recommend!
Food was incredible and in such a relaxed comfortable setting. No pomp and splendour needed when the chef and staff just know exactly what they are doing with food and the enthusiasm and love of is so obvious. Every single dish was yum and the final soufflé last but certainly not least. Thank you
The quality of the food was exceptional - and we enjoyed the wine pairing too. The general atmosphere was lovely as well.
We will definitely return
Lovely evening out with my husband. Food was excellent and the matching wine pairings very good too. Not a cheap night out but would recommend for a special occasion and a memorable meal. The rhubarb soufflé is out of this world!
The restaurant was very nice but there were too many dishes with Fennel in for me. I’m sure on another night I would have given it 5 stars - just wasn’t for me that night. Chef/Owner came to speak to us though and we had a good chat.
We had a lovely meal at Wilson’s. The staff were fantastic and really relaxed and friendly. The food was gorgeous. We had a really enjoyable evening. We would definitely go back.
We had a mix up in our booking but the waiter had a chat with the chef and accommodated us. The food we had was amazing. Had 2 new vegetables which I will try and cook with in the future. The waiter was very attentive and explained all the dishes and the wine.
Will definitely go again but hopefully try the full menu.
This superb restaurant goes from strength to strength. It is inventive, consistent and flavours are paramount. Just go!
We had an excellent meal at Wilson’s. The food was great and the service was superb. It is clear that the entire team are passionate about what they do.
This is probably my 10th or even 12th meal here. I have to say that while it is still very good, there are a couple of things that are less good than previously.
1. The fact that the menus have no choice at all. This is a downgrade. There was a dish on both the 4 course and 7 course menu which was pretty difficult to eat - basically raw squid. Also one dish which a couple of us did not want. But there were no options.
2. They now play music. We asked to have it turned down and that was fine. But in this small fine dining place the last thing you need is music. The acoustic in any case makes conversation difficult.
But the food in general is marvellous.
