The Winding Stair
The cockles and mussels were amazing. Also had the soup of the day. Fantastic! Beautiful restaurant. Highly recommend it.
Delicious food, very friendly, attentive, unintrusive service. Dined here with a friend after Christmas, she has since brought her husband back and so have I. Worth the journey from Laois. Looking forward to my next visit.
Lovely location overlooking the river, beautiful food with nice portion sizes, good wine, good service, not cheap but good value for the quality. Seasonal ingredients.
Well...recommended by friends and by the guidebook. Food was quite good, but overpriced. V,good wine cellar. One wait staff member was very good; the other, superior.Even when we had a SMALL negative comment, not even as much as a ‘sorry’, but rather, met with disdain! We’ve dined in some of the best restaurants in the world. If this is Dublin’s best....over-rated, ‘over-indulgent’ and overpriced!
Outstanding food and excellent wine selection. Good value if you go for pre-theatre menu. Service and view great too. Can't wait to return one day!
I enjoyed my meal with friends, while I arrived early I was given the daily newspaper to read by a very friendly staff member. We were not rushed, the food was excellent.
Definitely we will be returning.
Staff were friendly with the right attentiveness, food was very very tasty. Great cosy and relaxed environment with a great view of “The Halfpenny”. Fantastic small and friendly restaurant with fantastic food and wine.
Tutto perfetto ! Merluzzo con chorizo semplicemente fantastico
Great spot for lunch with a view over the river. Easy to find, loved the menu wit local produce as well as the wines on the board. Portions were spot on. Didn't feel rushed yet food arrived fairly quickly.
Overlooking the H'Penny Bridge in Dublin: Great setting.
Lovely food maybe some Vegan option
Otherwise everything was lovely
Excellent food and service. Highly recommend. Second time here and cannot wait to return again.
Great food and excellent service. My only gripe is that it was a little too warm in the restaurant
The professional service was great as the waiters were welcoming and very knowledgable. The ambience was lively as we were next to the kitchen but it was a warm, friendly and relaxed buzz. The food was delicious, particularly the venison dish for my main course-it was cooked to perfection and had oodles of flavour.
We had a lovely table at the window. It was a cold day and the restaurant was warm and cosy. Service and food were excellent. Would have no hesitation recommending this restaurant.
Lovely lunch in comfortable surroundings with a great view. Excellent staff.
Love this restaurant! Stellar food, extremely hospitable and friendly staff. Excellent wine list. Recommend a reservation prior to going. I’m from the states and am sure to have a meal at Winding Stair with each visit to Dublin.
The food is delicious , lovely atmosphere , great service , really good selection of wines by the glass and bottle and a pretreated menu that is great value . Would highly recommend
Nice food and good service with pleasant ambience.
To be honest "The Winding Stair" is loud. But you forget about it very quickly, because food and ambience are great. The view to the Liffey very nie - be sure you get a table next to the window.
Although the food is not that great, the ambiance and location make up for that and so did the friendly waiter we had. The food was served in a murderous tempo so it felt not like staying and ordering dessert or more wine.
Super views in an open room, staff were knowledgeable about the food and wine and friendly, good choices on the pre theatre menu but the a la carte was pricy. 12.5% service charge on party of 5 is excessive for a pre theatre meal. Bread and butter pudding was very stodgy
Wonderful, clever bistro type food, with some smart wine recommendations, all served by lovely waiting staff in a very lovely room.
The restaurant is in a lovely space but the food was just fine. Nothing special.
Delicious food in a beautiful setting. One member of the party has some serious allergies and the staff were incredibly helpful with accommodating them.
Pros: Cool space, good view if you can sit next to the table, excellent food, easy to get to.
Cons: Service was hit or miss (he did comp our drinks without us saying anything), portions were pretty tiny for cost, biggest one is that it was LOUD. We are in our late 20s our hearing is fine, but if I had a dollar for every time we had to say “what?” at each other I could have paid for dinner.
Best place in Dublin. Always a cheery welcome, great food and ambiance, easy to find. We visit everyvtime we can.
Nice restaurant, very helpful and nice waiters, happy overall
Had heard about this place from my Daughted. She treated us to a voucher for Xmas. We both had a main and dessert and a coffee. My husband had one non alcoholic beer and I had tap water. We went at 6.30 pm. Although my husband's steak was nice enough, it was badly presented. Nothing on the plate but piece of steak with chips (32euro). I had Cod (only 3 choices on set menu) which was nice, but the mash potato was cold. The desserts were ok. With a small tip, the bill was 100 euro. In my opinion, this was very expensive for the standard of food. Also the table kept rocking.
Fabulous food interesting, different and you didn't leave feeling hungry.
I’m normally eat in washerwoman and thats why I picked winding stairs . Washerwoman is a far superior restaurant. Friendly staff and better food variety . I asked for a bottle of wine I was told I would only have time for a glass it was myself and my friend there it was a special occasion I felt that was very rude .
Great food, amazing wine and friendly staff. Will definitely be back
Last minute booking but our request for window seat was accommodated .
Ambiance was excellent as well as staff. There was no rush to leave. Ie we were allowed to linger without any pressure.
We enjoyed the lively atmosphere at the Winding stair on a Saturday evening. The service was very efficient and friendly but couldn't give us much information when we asked about a Portuguese wine on the board and unfortunately the Spanish white wine I had choses was virtually tasteless. The food was very nice, fresh and well presented. I had two "specials" starters as both appealed to me, and no main course. Both, salmon and pigs head were delicious. The lamb my husband chose was very tasty too. The portions perfect, not huge, just right. We had no desert, good coffee!
The location is perfect, Ha'penny Bridge at night so pretty to look at.
I've been a few times. Brought my visitors there they loved it so much that they returned . Lovely atmosphere great staff. overall very pleasant experience.
Limited selection on early bird menu. A bottle of Craigies cider was 8.50 - very expensive. Too many tables with limited space between them. Good service and convenient place to have dinner in the city centre. Found it hard to recommend for dinner based on the limited early bird selection, cost of cider and limited space however food was good so will recommend.
Perfect. Great service and value for outstanding food.
Amazing little find with lovely lunch menu and great value. Wine list was impressive and staff were friendly. Food was delicious and nice open kitchen. Ambience was perhaps a little flat, but it was a Monday lunch time. Thank you for a special lunch for my partners 30th!
First time in Dublin & wanted to try serving Irish foods. We both had irish steaks & they are spot on, simple as yet tasty. Servise was attentive & efficient. Only thing was it was quite noisy so we had to speak loud to each other. Still enjoyed the whole experience.
Not the best of food to be honest. Disappointing. Staff very nice but they are not for eating.
