The Winding Stair
The Winding Stair has longed been a favorite with its seasonal menu and good wine list. The views of the H'penny Bridge and the flickering Liffey gives this well-oiled establishment a warmth and magic thus time of year. I call by for meal every time I visit Dublin.
Excellent food, lovely atmosphere and great service. Time and time again the food and service is great
I was there with four other friends three of which had never been there before and they were very impressed. Food was delicious, beautiful setting and the staff were really nice, efficient without being in your face. I'm looking forward to a return visit!
We had a fantastic evening at this restaurant. The wine selection is huge and we picked a lovely spanish wine that complemented our food choices really well.
The food was delicious and flavorful, unique tastes and ingredients were mixed together which created a culinary journey. The steak was amazing, but what really stood out to us was the venison dish we had. You have to try this out! :)
As a dessert we picked a cheese plate with irish local cheeses from farmers. Definitely worth the experience! It was so delicious!
The food was fab and the service was great, apart from one waiter who barely spoke to us even when asked a question. We did feel we were putting him out of his way by being there, but he was the exception all other staff were incredibly friendly and helpful
The menu is limited, but all the dishes we had were beautifully presented and the flavours were fantastic. The Chowder was one of the best we have had. The steak was cooked just right and the home made chips were gorgeous.
The staff we very friendly and efficient and nothing was a problem.
The only down side was we didn't get the side of vegetables we ordered.
We had a window seat which was lovely looking out across the Liffey.
A great place to celebrate a special event.
Lovely meal and excellent service. Great space. Casual and comfortable. Nice view of river and bridge.
Good food, but not particularly attentive service.
Mangiato tutto sommato bene e con un vasta scelta di vini
Lovely food in a cute, quaint restaurant/bookshop. Vegetarian options were few in number but extremely high quality, and the wait staff was very knowledgeable about the food. One of the best meals we had in Dublin!
Excellent food. Great atmosphere. Service was a little rushed but it was New Year’s Eve! Definitely one of the best in Dublin and worth a return visit.
Great food and service. Great place to sit and see the city!
Lovely find just opposite Temple Bar. Great service and fabulous food.
A stalwart favourite in Dublin. Always delicious fare to be had here, and the staff are professional, helpful and friendly, in a rather Irish, not overly cloying kind of way. The food also tends to showcase the best of Irish produce, especially the fish, with the comprehensive wine menu adding some international flavour to the experience. On this occasion, I opted for venison, which was scrumptious. The atmospher is also buzzy, but not oppressively so, and the location is ideal. I always make a point of recommending this place to foreign friends visiting Dublin, as I think it is a great exemplar of Dublin's vibrant restaurant scene. A mix of old and new, all executed with aplomb.
Visited The Winding Stairs on Christmad Eve with my sister and Mam. Atmosphere was warm and friendly. Staff were attentive, smiling and chatty. Food was absolutely fab. We had real carpaccio, crab and goats cheese pancetta for starters with trout for my self and my sister- my Mam had turkey. We fair licked the plates clean. Food was absolutely delicious! So tasty and full of flavour. Dessert was choc mouse cake whilst I had the best bread and butter pudding I have ever tasted. Highly recommended. I will definitely be going back.
Disappointed with our experience. Overpriced for average food. On the plus side, staff are very friendly
We had dinner here just before Christmas and it was truly lovely. The food was excellent, they had a great beer selection, and we had a fantastic view of the Hapenny Bridge from our table. The only downside was that our original server was cold and short with us - but he eventually disappeared and a lovely man (whose name I can't remember!) took over and was friendly and very accommodating. All in all, would definitely dine here again!
Food was delicious but the portions were too small for the price.
Loved our meal here - so festive! Lovely table by the window. Will be back
Haddock was beautiful, great service, all our group enjoyed their meals. Definitely recommend.
It can be difficult choosing a restaurant for groups. Lots of different tastes to accommodate, the winding stairs was perfect! The staff were friendly and helpful. The menu had something to suit everyone. The food was delicious and a fantastic wine selection. I'll be back!!
Just beautiful food and excellent abd friendly service
I would and will be recommending the Windibg Stairs
An amazing experience overall. Busy little spot with a fantastic atmosphere. Service was great, wine list would be hard to beat and the food was divine. Highly recommend a visit.
Went with my family during our vacation over the holidays. Very charming.
As always good food and goo see fun,! If in Dublin fantastic
Love this restaurant. Have been to Ireland twice and had dinner here both times. The good is terrific and the service is great. This visit 2 of us had the steak, one had duck and the other chicken. All very good. The appetizer meat board is fabulous! Desserts did not disappoint. We had the chocolate cake and bread pudding. Bread pudding was outstanding.
The Winding Stairs never fails to impress. Can't fault it. Consistently super food, service and ambience.
Excellent lunch experience as always at the Winding Stair. Compliments to the whole team 👌! Paul
Great place for upscale yet authentic Irish food. Impressive wine menu with offerings for all pockets and even though slightly more pricy than average Dublin restaurants, value for money was really good and there was not room for a leaf after the 3 course menu. Only downside: No GnT or other Apero drinks, but nice bubbly offering instead... Will go again next time I am in Dublin.
A wonderful restaurant, it never fails to impress.
Food was tasteless, damp, under AND over cooked and cold. Didn't finish the main course which was totally overpriced. Waiting staff were nice. Disappointing.
my only criticism is that we were served our food far too quickly, two courses done and dusted within the hour. I appreciate it is a busy time f year but a little time to sit and chat with our friends would have been nice
Lovely venue, packed in pre-Christmas rush. Told we could have a table for 2 hours but stayed much longer than that with no pressure from staff to leave. Food was very good with excellent starters. Will definitely return
Very good and the staff performs top! Nice food, good explanation about the menu.
Noise level way too high, food only ok overall for what we got too expensive
Have visited each year for the last 3 years when in Dublin.
Great food and wine in a nice setting.
Overall we had a nice time but it was way too noisy unfortunately :-(
Amazing as always
Steak was over cooked and we set it back and at the same time ordered a glass of wine. Meanwhile the two other guests were finished their mains and no sign of either the wine or the steak, we duly cancelled it and complained to what was a very stroppy lady. I fully understand that restaurants make mistakes but it’s how you deal with them is what counts. Two guests finished and the other without food or drink and the attitude was appalling. Have been many many times but never again.
The staff are super friendly and made a great effort for my friend's graduation. The food was gorgeous as well, we all loved it. 10/10.
