Woodlands Restaurant Hampstead
We are humbled to have a loyal host of guests, many of whom are prominent figures from the world of Film, Politics, Arts and Culture.
The food here is fantastic, and the Thali is very good value for money. I took my dad for a father's day treat and we both really enjoyed it. Great service and easy atmosphere to relax and chat. The homemade raspberry sorbet was also a great surprise!
Considering Opentable allowed me to book a table for 3pm ( even though this restaurant is closed between 3-6pm on Sundays) the whole experience ended up a positive one.
I rang ahead to confirm the booking and was told that the chef had gone home and they were closed. Sensing my disappointment, the manager phone me back and opened the restaurant just for us! We got excellent service, food was delicious and very fresh and we were the only ones in the restaurant which meant we had the full artantion of our waiter and chef!!
I would definitely go back. Thank you Woodlands
Great service and food! I would definitely go back
service was not good short of staff etc.....
Card machine was not working ! Terrible menu , on pieces of photo copying paper , you cannnot even read the menu ! Terrible ‘ Terrible! Terrible! Would not recommend to anybody.
Very expensive and very little value for money.
Zero to 1 star !!
The first time we came to Woodlands the food was very good. This time however everything went wrong. We arrived at 7.15pm and were not even asked for our drinks order until 7.50pm. What made it worse is it wasn’t even that busy. Eventually when our food came it was the complete opposite experience to last time. Puris were hard and chewy, the mixed grill was burnt/over cooked and the mains of Rogan Josh and paneer tikka were completely tasteless. I quietly had a word with the manager but he simply said we were the only ones to complain and he would give me 20% off the bill. We really just wanted to go. So we paid over £40 for two poppadums, two pieces of cauliflower, three chewy puris and two pieces of paneer. Because that’s all we were able to eat. Very very disappointed.
I've eaten at Woodlands Hampstead 5 times now and always absolutely loved the food. On Saturday night we arrived for our table at 7:30pm, our food came out at 9pm cold. 2 of the 3 other tables dining alongside us got up and walked out after waiting over an hour for their starters which were also cold. There was no music so we were very aware of complaints around us. The service was terrible, I've always eaten here on a Saturday night and there's never been more than two staff off.
The restaurant was completely closed. No messages on the door, no reply to phone calls and ruined a birthday dinner due to having to find an alternate location at the last moment.
My second visit to Woodlands and still very pleased with everything. The food was amazing.
Great food as always
Mothers Day treat - it didn't start so well with being told that the lunch time service had removed fresh juices and a few of the starter choices. Starters were ok, nothing special but then again this place specialises in South Indian food and the masala dosa's were extremely good. To cap it off, the nutella dosa was epic. The menu on their website can be confusing so have an idea but don't fixate on one particular thing because you could be in for a shock.
Slow service. Average food. In fact, below average, not piping hot and very oily.
Food was really lovely, service was attentive and very pleasant but it was cold in the restaurant, there was little ambience and the toilets weren’t the nicest.
Overall we were happy with the food and service, only flaw was the menu's as it was poorly written, needs to be printed properly and in a presentable format and the fact that the delivery people such as Deliveroo seems to visit quite often making the restaurant feel more like a take away place rather than somewhere nice to sit and eat. As far as the food goes their food is nice and tasty and being a vegetarian it makes our tastebuds happy. Few parking spaces close and nice area to dine in.
The restaurant was cold and empty.
We had idli and sizzling broccoli to begin which were both good and we looked forward to the rest of our meal.....
The Sauvignon blanc was off. The aubergine dish arrived cold. We ate our meal in a cold empty atmosphere. When the door opened for 2 other diners, we shivered. The other dishes were unmemorable.
A shame. Our server from Netherlands had a lot to contend with and deserved better service from the kitchen.
Having recently moved to Hampstead we would have loved to have found a restaurant to frequent regularly. Also, this is not it.
Excellent food, attentive service, nice ambience, pleasant and efficient staff.
The service i thought was a bit below standards. When i asked for a Cobra pint, the manager said they had run out of it and offered me a Kingfisher that was on the menu. I had no problem until two new customers sat beside us were given a Cobra (served by the same manager).
This was a New Years' eve meal and we wanted to take our time and enjoy the food so we though of ordering the starters and then the mains. The manager was adament that before our starters arrived he wanted us to quickly order the mains, because it would get busy (which it didnt).
Apart from that, the food was really tasty!!!
Excellent food. Good value
The food is authentic and delicious! The decor is high end modern Indian.
Great position in Hampstead. Will definitely go back.
Friday night 2145 though the place would be heaving. Instead we were one of only two tables, which is a shame if this is regular because the vegetarian food is excellent and the service great! Meal for 2 + wine £70 so great value as well. Recommended!
Lovely local restaurant. Food was extremely tasty, full of traditional flavours. Great menu with lots of variety, highly recommend for vegetarians and vegans. Ambience was lacking as only a few people in the restaurant which was a shame. And only 1 waitress so service was a bit slow, but it didn't detract too much from the amazing food.
We ordered 3 servings of poppadoms, but the chutneys were one serving and there were no pickles
The Bathura did not arrive until we chased it
Meals were nice, marred by inadequate service
Awful experience. Restaurant should not advertise being able to cater for Jains (no onion or garlic). Despite clarifying 3 individuals could not eat onion or garlic at the beginning, before ordering any dish and quadruple checking when food was bought out the manager managed to feed all three people onion and was not even appropriately apologetic. Ruined the evening and was a horrible experience and still had to pay a considerable amount for a very disappointing dinner! I normally give restaurants a second chance but not this one!
Great quality Indian food with a twist.
Staff were very friendly and advised when to make orders so that food would arrive when expected.
