Wright Brothers Battersea
Waitress was very friendly but didn’t listen! Wine glasses weren’t removed from the table at being seated,Requested water twice until it finally arrived. Ordered two more glasses of wine when starter plates were taken asked three times where they were and they finally arrived when I had finished my main course and my partner had almost finished the empty wine glasses were again left on the table when the fresh glasses came. The dessert took a very long time as well. These are basic service requirements when dinning out.
Enjoyable overall, however, nothing special, especially when you compare it to the bill presented. Too expensive for what is offered. Service was friendly tho.
Excellent service and delicious food, as always
Amazing food always, a neighbourhood gem in a hugely up and coming location
Mussels seemed old and were not appetizing. no flavor. Service was somewhat slow and not very attentive. Value wasn’t great for such high prices.
Had a lovely dinner on the terrace on sunday evening and the food was, as always, delicious and our lovely polish waitress (don't know her name, sorry) went the extra mile to make us feel welcome and keep us happy.
Thank you again !
Dear MickaelB, Thank you so much for your lovely feedback - I will certainly be passing on your feedback to Jolanta! We look forward to seeing you next time. Kind regards, Danny
I chose this restaurant for date night having had a great experience at the south ken branch.
Food was average. Service was awful, took 30 mins to have our drinks order taken. Had to get up to ask to order drinks for the waiter to say he would come over when he got chance, very rude and never came over. Had to get up 10 mins later again to ask to order drinks and the manager came over and took order. For the price of the restaurant was a very disappointing evening.
Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. It's extremely disappointing to hear what should have been a special occasion was let down by poor service. This certainly isn't up to our standards and i will be assessing why you were not given the attention required to ensure you have the best possible experience here at Wright Brothers. Feel free to drop me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to discuss this further. Kind regards, Danny
Over lit, noisy - the music and surprisingly the chatter from the 3 other tables occupied.
Food was up to scratch for Wright Bros but we will not return to this branch.
Great food, good service really enjoyed my visit. Staff were very pleasant.
Outside table view of the Thames perfect! Great service from Jessica and Salvador
Fantastic food at a reasonable price. Perfect for a special occasion.
Booked for the Mid Week Lobster Special, which was not only great tasting but extremely good value.
The service was attentive and friendly. The weather permitted outside seating which offers a lovely view.
A very nice spot, highly recommend.
The meal was lovely, staff attentive, knowledgeable and very welcoming.
Oysters were lovely
I had to ask three times for my glass to be refilled with water and twice for mayonnaise. The chap at the next table took pity on me and passed me his. The under head waiter did not say the lobster was “off” until I ordered it. He spun me a cock and bull story about reserving lobsters for customers who we dining tonight. Finally, after a lot of fuss, he found me a lobster. It is obviously a popular choice because a vast majority of guests had ordered it. Service was generally sloppy. The weather was perfect and we enjoyed eating al fresco.
Dear Annie, Thank you for taking the time to post your feedback, although I am sorry to hear this experience wasn’t up to our usual standards. The lobster offer have shown very popular and he is unfortunately subject to availability. If you wish to contact me directly about your visit, please email me at: email@example.com Kind regards, JMs
We were shown to a table around a corner near some very noisy children and forgotten about...we didn’t get round to ordering as they seem to have forgotten about us so we left to go elsewhere...and where not asked or question as we left
Dear David, I am truly sorry about your experience at Wright Brothers. Needless to say, I already had a word about the comments in your review with the management in charge the day of your visit for it not to happen again. If you wish to discuss further, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org. JMs
Great seafood, cooked perfectly. IMO, this is the best Wright Brothers restaurant.
The atmosphere was nice and buzzy on a wet summer evening. We ordered some drinks on arrival but they took quite a long time to appear, we were concerned that our starters would arrive before we had our cocktails so we alerted the waitress to hold back our starters but inevitably they were delivered at the same time, along with the bottle of wine to accompany the starters, the restaurant wasn’t that busy so there was no need to rush things along. In fairness the starters were taken away to be redone and we enjoyed our excellent Bloody Marys. Service was much better paced after this, and the second set of starters were all good, the highlight being the dressed crab which was absolutely delicious and so fresh, grilled prawns and cuttlefish croquettes were also good. The ray wing was the highlight of the mains, Dover sole was beautifully cooked but unfortunately covered in a rather heavy and over salted crab butter which spoilt it somewhat. Overall an enjoyable evening, after a rather shaky start.
Dear Wendy, Thank you for sharing online your experience at Wright Brothers Battersea. Your feedback have been passed on to the head chef and the team. We hope to see you again soon to enjoy our lovely seafood. JMs
I have been meaning to come here for a long time. I caught the boat to Battersea Power Station which is a lovely way to arrive.
The service here is fantastic and I cannot fault it. A lot of French waiters with recommendations and lots of chat.
I had the ceviche as a starter. It was weird. I have had it many many times and this is the first time it didn't have the incredible tiger milk with the wonderful lime flavours. I was disappointed, I would say it was only ok.
I had the monkfish for main. I liked it but it wasn't wow. It was a special.
The wine was a picpoul de pinet and was perfect.
So, fabulous staff, lovely decor, brilliant wine, a gorgeous view but average food. I definitely feel that the menu is one of those where you can 'choose well' and it depends on what you get as to how good it is. Maybe you will have better luck than me!
Perfectly cooked lobster on the griddle and a nice bottle of wine. What could be better?
It was a wonderful experience, we had a great romantic night out. Well decorated, nice location and we loved the river views.
Food was absolutely delicious, the octopus was cooked to perfection and the sauce that came with it was divine, and the hake was delightful. Served with an Indian style hash brown, sweet potato purée and a courgette tempura, was a perfect combination. Great recommendation by the manager.
We will definitely recommend this one and go back.
Great for a quick business lunch but disappointing for a full evening meal.
Lovely setting and great food. We sat outside at the front, it can get a bit chilly so bring a wrap. My only 'small' gripe is the waiters trying to repeatedly pour the wine for you....I had to twice quite forcefully tell them to leave the bottle alone....our glasses were still half full and I'm quite able to pour the wine myself,
Other than that it was great
Took the free shuttle bus from Sloane Square to Battersea Power Station - fab service. Great location opposite the Thames, we sat inside, service was paced at the right level - not too over bearing or frequent. We had oysters and crab as main courses, both choices were superb. Defo recommend easier to get a table then the Wrights at Borough. Wrights is not a cheap option but the food was excellent, so if you are feeling indulgent book a table.
Hello Julie, We are glad to read you had a great experience at Wright Brothers Battersea. Thank you for the wonderful review. JMs
Definitely go here to enjoy their oysters on their terrace over looking the Thames. I was however disappointed with the rest of the food.. I ordered two of their special starters, the tuna tataki which was very underwhelming, it was just very spicy and just didn't taste great, as well as the tiger prawns which were overcooked and just fine. I thought charging over £20 for these two dishes was really excessive. The service was great however, and the setting is really really lovely.
Dear Emy, Thank you for your feedback and sorry the food wasn't to our usual standards. I have passed on your comments to the head chef who will surely look into it and take action. Kind regards JMs
Excellent food and great service from Yolanda.
Hello Andrea, Thank you for taking the time to review our restaurant. We are lucky and glad to have Jolanta in our team. I will happily pass on your feedback to her when possible. JMs
Disappointing fish and chips - a poor and small piece of fish and the batter was almost burnt - this rather let down the mushy peas and tartar sauce which were very good
The wine list continues to underwhelm me - overpriced wines, and none of them very good at that
Hello RegH, I'm truly sorry to hear your experience wasn't up to our usual standards. I have passed on your feedback to our head chef and bar manager so we can improve on the points you have raised. You can also contact me if you want to discuss further by sending an email to email@example.com Kind regards. JMs
Wright Bros. Battersea branch occupies a prominent site on the pier convenient for the boat and other facilities at Battersea Power Station development. We had high expectations as we are relatively regular visitors to the Soho and Borough branches and we were not disappointed at Battersea ! The ambience inside and the service from Bruno and the rest of the team was excellent throughout. We opted for Jersey oysters and salmon sashimi to start and could not have wished for fresher . We were most impressed with the ray wing special which was delicate and delicious but the plaice was also notable. A memorable visit which we shall definitely repeat in the not too distant future!
Hello Paul, Thank you for visiting Wright Brothers Battersea. We are pleased to hear you have enjoyed your seafood experience and look forward to see yo again soon. JMs
In comparison to our visit a week ago, the food overall was prepared and presented worse. Service was as slow as unfriendly. After the first visit, we really wanted to come again very soon thinking that we found the right place. Being disappointed it will take a long time now to probably come back one day.
Dear Sergey, Thank you so much for taking the time to send through your feedback, although I am sorry to hear this experience wasn’t up to our usual standards. Needless to say I have had words with our teams. If you would like to discuss further, you can contact me directly at firstname.lastname@example.org. Kind regards, Jean-Michel
Great location and food was good. Service could have been better and even though we had booked and turned up I was messaged from open table giving me a 'telling off' for not turning up.
It was also more expensive than we expected.
Enjoyable meal in general although one comment which drags down the whole review: we arrived at 8pm and ordered the Full House platter for 60 GBP but were informed that some of the items on the platter had run out and would be substituted with other items from the list such as the large prawns etc. This sounded fine and we proceeded to order but then when we received it the replacement was a load of tiny brown shrimp still in their shells of the kind you usually find in potted shrimp - these were impossible to peel and eat individually and although a waiter suggested we eat them whole that was like chewing down on locusts! Was not massively impressed with that substitution considering the platter is pretty expensive. The fish soup starter was very nice although a little bit over salted for my personal preference. Chocolate and caramel fondant dessert really was divine; the service was friendly, professional and prompt, they let us taste the wine we were considering before we decided to order it and the other items on the platter were good quality so a shame about the substitution. Atmosphere was really pleasant, buzzing but not too loud. An enjoyable evening but please do consider substituting something more appropriate next time!
Location. Food good but not special or different. Place is out of the way so it is no surprise that the restaurant is mostly empty and its late. But it lacks character.
All just “ok”, but expensive for what we got - a main each, 2 pints, 1 bottle of wine and 1 desert to share - £55 a head. 1 waiter servicing the whole area, he was run off his feet and unable to keep up with demand. Menu uninspiring, specials not much better. Won’t be returning if menu stays the same. Welcomed nicely and adjusted loud music - thank you.
This was my fifth visit and it didn’t disappoint. Slightly expensive so I only go there as a treat but a treat it is!
Superb oysters, good value, great value after 3pm! Staff great and it’s in a good spot!
I thought the three small prawns on the special board were over priced but this is my only fault with this place! We will be back and would not hesitate to recommend it!
Lovely food but the cod special was a bit disappointing, unfortunately quite dry.
Very disappointing. We have eaten at battersea and there Wright brother restaurants many times. We struck a bad night. We arrived at the restaurant at just after *pm with only two other tables inside taken. we were seated next to a large table of young, noisy middle eastern males and one female. They appeared to be having a series of seafood platters. Over half of them ate standing up at the table and they all appeared to be all talking at once. They were totally unaware of our presence. They left after 45 minutes leaving a lot of food uneaten. An elderly couple sitting next to us complained to us that they had been there for quite some time before we arrived and their behaviour had been unacceptable.
Regarding our own service it was poor and a number of choices were unavailable. The waitress was very pleasant but with only two other couples in the restaurant our meals took ages to arrive. We had only one very small starter each and main courses and two desserts shared by each couple. We had a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc and a small carafe of Chardonnay and there gins and tonic. The bill was over £75 per head and our guests - Americans - were polite enough to comment, but they mentioned after we had left that it wasn't their first London meal and was very poor value. We will think hard again before we bring foreign guests.
Generally poor service compared to the other Restuarants
Saturday late lunch with friends- the staff were very happy to let us order and graze which is what we did... allowing us to take forever and enjoy a catch up...
It was busy and noisy because of the seafood festival - which provided much entertainment...
We all felt we would go again.
Great location, good views across the river.""....................... ...................
We had a lovely evening and with management and staff providing a great level of service. The takeover experience from Roy Brett and his team was amazing and look forward to his return to Battersea.
