Wright Brothers Borough Market
Borough Market is the original Wright Brothers restaurant. It’s intimate, informal and never, ever dull. Seating is mostly arranged around a long oyster bar and two shared high-tables which offer views across the open kitchen.
Head chef Gareth Cleland's speciality is great ingredients cooked simply and includes classics such as oysters, fruits de mer, moules marinière, as well as a daily-changing specials board featuring the best seafood and seasonal produce. It doesn't get fresher than th

We enjoyed our dinner at Wright Brothers. The staff was lovely. The quality of the food could be better but overall we had a really nice time.
The meal was fantastic as usual.
We were very lucky we had a table in the restaurant not in the alley which we thought we were getting so it was much nicer.
Service attentive and respectful
They sell Ridgeview English sparking - better than Champagne !
Really pleased that Wright Bros borough market have arranged to have outdoor seating in the market area opposite the restaurant, as there are many people not yet comfortable being indoors and i can't imagine how they would manage social distancing in a way that would cover their running costs in the restaurant itself. The seating is very comfy, and the space is away from the hectic main run of the street itself. I feel for the waiters, bringing food across the road, and found them to be as knowledgable and approachable as always. The food was fantastic. Oysters, grilled prawns, John Dory on a special and Brill. The service team checked on us just enough without interrupting conversation, and we were lucky to have a gorgeous evening sky to enjoy. Once they're a little more in the flow of running it this way, a thought about designing ambience would go a long way.
Had the shellfish platter wasn’t all that tbh also had the crab cakes they weren’t very nice but the fried sea bream was lovely
Food was fantastic. Service was very poor, upon arrival we waited 45 minutes for our bottle of wine. After 45 minutes sat there with nothing, I had to approach a waiter to remind him of our wine order. We also asked for the bill twice, both of which was ignored.
Great Great Great Great Great Great Great Great Great
My handbag was stolen while we were having dinner. There is no control over space and who’s where.
Ok me of the waiters kept moving their head up as to make themselves heard, defeating the purpose of the mask/ppe they were wearing.
Food as usual, delicious and service was good despite.
Adored our experience here with you guys this week and have already booked in for dinner again next week!
Really great meal, the service was great. Having the chairs in the market was nice too!
Such good food, wine and service, love it here.
due to covid 19 we were sat in the market away from the restaurant and food was brought over from the restaurant ,
the food was excellent , the service was excellent from the waiters / waitresses and could not be faulted in any way .
we have eaten in the restaurant before and did not expect to be sat in the market with people walking past us as though it was a thoroughfare, better barriers may of helped .
we would only eat at Wright Brothers again if the restaurant was fully back open and up and running , hopefully this is soon .
Due to Covid we were sat outside but still had an amazing night. Food and service was on point as it always is. Thank you
Outstanding as always
Brilliant evening but it does help if it's warm, as it's all outside. Excellent food. The staff were really helpful and attentive. Borough Market is a vibrant place to hang out.
Good wine list but sadly the food was bland. Oysters came on a bed of melted ice, so were just sat in cold water which had spilled over into the oyster shells. Mussels were good but nothing to write home about. The hake was undercooked and generally just a lack lustre dish! Side of potatoes were dry and the Parmesan rocket salad was droopy and overpriced...
Our waitress was lovely but not very attentive. If ever we needed something we had to flag somebody down.
Sadly we wouldn’t return.
Fabulous. As my friend said when we’d finished ‘You just can’t get a bad meal at Wright Brothers’. So true. Staff are so pleased to be open and back to work and the atmosphere is buzzing. So cool eating outside under the market awnings. Great night, excellent food. Looking forward to going back.
Food was absolutely divine and we had a lovely bottle of wine. Under current circumstances, we were sat outside but right next to a road blockade - not the most picturesque! An enjoyable experience altogether.
Eating Al fresco in Borough market was really enjoyable. Great to have Wright's open again.
First time at the Borough one, outdoors of course which was actually really brilliant, loads of atmosphere and totally safe, and of course the food was banging as always and service flawless
Great night out
Amazing food. Good service. Having to sit under the market roof on hard chairs with mice running about was not ideal
I think the food is very overpriced for what you actually get. Tasty, but way too expensive. Love the atmosphere and the staff.
Nice improvising with COVID, good service, good atmosphere
Great to see the venue utilising the outdoor spaces of the market. Food was delicious, must go back for the fish pie croquettes(sold out before we could order which must mean its good!)
Wright Brothers was one of our favourite restaurants, but post Covid-19 things have clearly changed. The seafood platter was very bland - the welks were unrecognisable and to top it all of the service was poor - with an unattentive waiter telling me off for ordering wine from the chef (won’t have been necessary if he’d be more attentive). Never again!
The food was excellent and was prepared quickly. The service was friendly and efficient. It wasn't clear that the tables were on the other side of the street from the restaurant and also it wasn't clear that we should use the toilet back inside but those were minor issues.
During Covid-19 they are seating costumers inside borough market. Really unpleasant set up. It feels like street market while paying the price of high end restaurant.
Good morning. I'm sorry to hear that you did not enjoy the ambience of the market terrace. Unfortunately we are unable to accommodate diners at the oyster bar itself at this time as the restrictions on distancing make it impossible. We do state on our website and confirmation that this will be the case but will look to see how we can improve on how this is communicated. Thank you for your feedback and I hope we can welcome you back in the future.
Lovely eating in the main market hall, great to be back! Lovely waiters and staff and we had a brilliant night x
Great food with a superb service! What more could you ask?
Great food and good service
Always good to come back to great fish restaurant
Our waitress was really friendly and helpful, especially considering it was their first night opening up again!
Fabulous restaurant as long as you don't mind being close to your neighbour. Not much room but more than compensated for by the fabulous food and service.
Great service, fun ambiance, lovely food. Well done and thank you!
Celebrating company success
I've been to several Wright Brothers Restaurants, and while all are excellent I really love the one in Borough Market. Great food and wine and fabulous ambiance.
The starter was a big let down, House Platter, the prawns were like mush (powered). Some prawns weren’t even whole and clearly they shouldn’t have been served. The whelks were sandy so it led to a horrible taste in the mouth. Oysters weren’t great, had better and shockingly they weren’t shuck. Worse part of a meal I’ve had there. Mains delicious, lobster and mussels were very tasty and well prepared. Vegetables beautiful.
Love Wright Brothers! It’s a little on the expensive side but if you are a fish and shellfish aficionado, you could do a lot worse than book a table here. Food is great, really good and they always have such a wide choice of excellent oysters One can chat with the chefs as they prepare meals as the kitchen can be viewed from the restaurant bar seating area. Chefs are friendly and knowledgeable and serving staff keen! The only slight downer is alcohol. Wine, in my humble opinion, is a little overpriced. I think they could improve with offering better value whites!! That aside, Wrights is a fantastic place to eat and its location next to Borough Market makes it even more attractive. I’ve dined there quite a few times over the years and look forward to continue doing so!
As always faultless service and first class produce cooked without fuss and delicious
food is so good and service great with a great buzzing atmosphere.
Really busy and popular seafood joint in Borough Market, lovely fresh seafood and friendly staff. Even though the place was packed literally from 5pm till late, staff are all very friendly and helpful throughout the evening. It's not fine-dining (so don't expect plush seating), but if you are after seafood and a good time, this is your place.
