Wright Brothers Borough Market
Borough Market is the original Wright Brothers restaurant. It’s intimate, informal and never, ever dull. Seating is mostly arranged around a long oyster bar and two shared high-tables which offer views across the open kitchen.
Head chef Gareth Cleland's speciality is great ingredients cooked simply and includes classics such as oysters, fruits de mer, moules marinière, as well as a daily-changing specials board featuring the best seafood and seasonal produce. It doesn't get fresher than th

The food was excellent and was prepared quickly. The service was friendly and efficient. It wasn't clear that the tables were on the other side of the street from the restaurant and also it wasn't clear that we should use the toilet back inside but those were minor issues.
During Covid-19 they are seating costumers inside borough market. Really unpleasant set up. It feels like street market while paying the price of high end restaurant.
Lovely eating in the main market hall, great to be back! Lovely waiters and staff and we had a brilliant night x
Great food with a superb service! What more could you ask?
Great food and good service
Always good to come back to great fish restaurant
Our waitress was really friendly and helpful, especially considering it was their first night opening up again!
Fabulous restaurant as long as you don't mind being close to your neighbour. Not much room but more than compensated for by the fabulous food and service.
Great service, fun ambiance, lovely food. Well done and thank you!
Celebrating company success
I've been to several Wright Brothers Restaurants, and while all are excellent I really love the one in Borough Market. Great food and wine and fabulous ambiance.
The starter was a big let down, House Platter, the prawns were like mush (powered). Some prawns weren’t even whole and clearly they shouldn’t have been served. The whelks were sandy so it led to a horrible taste in the mouth. Oysters weren’t great, had better and shockingly they weren’t shuck. Worse part of a meal I’ve had there. Mains delicious, lobster and mussels were very tasty and well prepared. Vegetables beautiful.
Love Wright Brothers! It’s a little on the expensive side but if you are a fish and shellfish aficionado, you could do a lot worse than book a table here. Food is great, really good and they always have such a wide choice of excellent oysters One can chat with the chefs as they prepare meals as the kitchen can be viewed from the restaurant bar seating area. Chefs are friendly and knowledgeable and serving staff keen! The only slight downer is alcohol. Wine, in my humble opinion, is a little overpriced. I think they could improve with offering better value whites!! That aside, Wrights is a fantastic place to eat and its location next to Borough Market makes it even more attractive. I’ve dined there quite a few times over the years and look forward to continue doing so!
As always faultless service and first class produce cooked without fuss and delicious
food is so good and service great with a great buzzing atmosphere.
Really busy and popular seafood joint in Borough Market, lovely fresh seafood and friendly staff. Even though the place was packed literally from 5pm till late, staff are all very friendly and helpful throughout the evening. It's not fine-dining (so don't expect plush seating), but if you are after seafood and a good time, this is your place.
Food was perfect. Drinks just right.
Even though it was very busy staff were attentive and aware.
Good, friendly atmosphere.
Will definitely be back
Good buzzy atmosphere and great food, quite squashed in though
We had a great table and all was delicious! The selection of oysters helped us choose our favourites for more. Of our main courses. the plaice was particularly good and desserts also excellent. The service was friendly at just the right level, efficient and of a high standard. Thank you
Excellent fish - well prepared. Interesting Bermondsey porter beer.
An excellent meal with great, friendly service and a terrific ambience. Highly recommended.
Nice bar, delicious oysters (our pint of oysters were sadly over salted) friendly service but probably a little on the pricey side.
Usual buzzy atmosphere with great food and service.
The staff are great but the management have wrecked the place prices up portions smaller and quality poor. Used to go twice a month but will not be going back.
Such a shame used to be really good.
Beautiful food, and lovely atmosphere. I really enjoyed the open kitchen. We moved our booking forward with no issues. Prawns were delicious, as was the whole sea bream.
Food here is always amazing, recommend the platters and the dressed crab
So good if you're are sea foody!
Effortless culinary professionalism as ever; wonderful fresh seafood ingredients complemented by excellent and good value wines. No loud or intrusive music - just the happy hubbub one always finds there. What more could one ask for?
very busy makes it buzz, we had 2 seats by the kitchen/bartop which made it very cosy
Lovely restaurant, awesome service, fantastic produce! Only gripe would be the content of the platter was a little lacking for the price, and would have liked some more interesting shell fish on there.
Delicious sea food, just what we were looking for!
The food was excellent, the oysters were exceptional, we were seated at stools at first near the cooking area , which we found too hot so we asked if we could move and this was done quickly and politely. We had one glass of one and the bill came to over £150 which maybe is comparable with other London restaurants, but to me seems expensive, especially when for parties of 2 or less you are eating on stools at a bar counter. So nice place but overpriced in terms of food and setting.
Great fish, cooked perfectly! And fab energetic atmosphere
Amazing. Excellent food. Excellent service . Great atmosphere. Love it 🥰
Excellent as always
When I can cook better it is a disappointment. Female staff excellent service particularly rude male waiter. Nothing special.
A great place fro a pre-theatre meal within walking distance of the Menier chocolate factory. Wonderful fish - fresh and imaginatively prepared.
A more rustic setting than their branch at Battersea; but the food of the same high standard.
Looking a bit tired at the moment, mens' toilet not working fully.
Great place - I have been coming here for years. The fish is so fresh and the staff so welcoming. Pricing is reasonable considering the quality of the fish.
Lovely sunday lunch very easy and informal, fantastic meal; dover sole and oysters and great choice of desserts. Wine very expensive. Overall atmosphere great.
Food was great quality and really fresh and the customer service was also great. Nice lively ambience also.
