Wright Brothers Borough Market
Head chef Rob Malyon’s speciality is great ingredients cooked simply and includes classics such as oysters, fruits de mer, moules marinière, as well as a daily-changing specials board featuring the best seafood and seasonal produce. It doesn't get fresher than this.
If you are unable to make an online reservation – please call the restaurant directly.
We've been several times before but I would hesitate to book again.
There was a choice of places to sit but none were fantastic. We ended up at the back, perched on stools watching the chefs but we were literally hoofed in and my husband had to be very politely asked to squish himself along so that the staff could get in and out of the service area.
It was really hot near the kitchen which we weren't warned about (and it was a really hot evening) - we could have asked to move somewhere else, but it had taken so long to squeeze in to the space in the first place I honesty couldn't be bothered.
The menu was somewhat disappointing for choice, I had fish pie last time I came and for dinner, I wanted something more substantial than shell-on prawns or mussels - I can only assume that most of the specials had already sold out.
We love fish and shellfish but we were nonplussed and ended up with the beef pie - which was fabulous I have to say, almost as good as what I make at home but we would have preferred fish.
My starter wasn't fine but nothing special, standard mackerel pate offered with small pieces of dry, toasted sour-dough. Fresh out of the fridge, the butter-seal was cold and solid unfortunately. The scallops being prepared in front of us looked amazing - I wish I had chosen that instead.
Staff were lovely and we couldn't have been made more welcome. The wine was really good. We were too full for to have a dessert.
It was lovely to be back but I think we will make it lunch next time instead of dinner and would recommend same approach to friends.
Great service and the best bloody mary i ever had
I've been recently and it was quite good, nice staff and amazing food, I will come againg
Fantastic meal in a good atmosphere, but gets very busy so booking is a good idea. Food is excellent
Amazing, everything was perfect from start to finish!
As ever, one of the best places to eat. Top qualtiy ingredients, simply but really well cooked.
Superb - as always
Outstanding fresh and perfectly cooked food, still a great restaurant
Dinner Saturday night with a good friend and Wright brothers didn’t disappoint. Really good food and excellent service, with great atmosphere. Wines were very good too. Def return.
A great experience at a cozy fish house. We went to Borough location and found a large crowd outside. Our reservation was mandatory as this small venue fills up quickly and for good reason. We elected to sit bar style over looking the kitchen. It was a treat to watch the fresh fish being prepared. The menu changes for specials daily depending upon the catch. If you like simple, fresh seafood this is a fantastic choice. A very snug restaurant with a warm ambiance. You will enjoy.
This was a last minute choice for our final night in London so couldn’t get a reservation until 9pm. But we were so glad we waited! Great food, lively atmosphere, friendly waiter, and fun location in the Borough Market. We were seated at the counter which allowed us to watch the action in the kitchen. All around a wonderful experience for our last meal before leaving early the next day!
Great food - excellent staff and service! Definitely recommended for a special, not formal occasion or special treat!
Delicious food (don't miss the wonderful Beef, Guinness and Oyster Pie), friendly, helpful and attentive service and great atmosphere. A thorough delight and highly recommended.
Second time visiting with my partner, this time with another couple. Our waiter was very patient and helpful considering we had no idea what to order as everything looked so good. You should order the herring rollmops, we ordered a plate of those per person and did not regret it! Had a lovely time, it's like spending a couple of hours by the seaside before trudging back to London life.
Excellent as always and have eaten here many times and have always enjoyed the place as it’s top notch!
Great service, great oysters and a really buzzy atmosphere.
Had a fantastic night at Wright Brothers Borough Market with 2 friends - where we first of all got an amazing service. I messed up - as it turned out that the table I thought I had booked - was booked for the following week but despite the restaurant being heaving the waiter promised to help me out and managed to still find us a table - so was really grateful for that. We decided to share a portion of mussels for starter and I must admit that this was some of the best mussels I have ever tasted. Really meaty and full of flavours. Had some of their specials for main - which again didn't disappoint. Everything was so great that we even went for dessert. Haven't been to this place for years but will for sure be back soon - completely forgot how great this is. If you love seafood - you cannot go wrong here.
This year we have been lucky to have eaten in some very good seafood restaurants. The experience at Wright Bros was the worst by some margin. Even though we arrived early and our table was free we were harried to order quickly. I had to ask three different members of staff to find out about wine differences. The food itself was underwhelming and poor value. Would not recommend based on this experience.
For a small restaurant in Borough Market this has to be up there. The oysters are some of the best in London and on this occasion the prawn special starter was one of the stars of the show alongside the main special hake dish. Staff friendly and fair value for money
Very friendly environment. Staff took time to chat with me as I was alone. Food was amazing.
Outstanding shellfish. I can’t stop coming back. The mussels and scallops are divine. Start with half a pint of prawns. Don’t forget the Tabasco sauce.
Second time I have been there. No bells, no whistles, just straight good food, beverages and service. Just make sure you don’t sit guests with reservation at the „jump seats“ looking into the kitchen!
Delicious as always. Pint of prawns, mackerel pate, and mussels. Topped off with a delicious bottle of muscadet. Top class as always
Great food, great service. Lots of hustle & bustle. Loads of great options in the menu.
The seafood is soooo great and fresh！
Great food. Relaxed venue. Not too noisy but enough background noise. Oysters were superb !
It's a refreshingly simple, charismatic seafood bar and casual restaurant. We sat the bar watching the cooking, which is done to order and all with simple and fresh ingredients. It's got a good buzzy atmosphere, ideal for a casual experience rather than a truly comfortable finer dining one. We thought it was good value for money and the quality of the ingredients and cooking is excellent. The service was attentive and friendly.
Wright Brothers is always a great experience. They know the difference between service and hospitality here and they make you feel right at home while you fill your soul with oysters and wine. Such great staff and brilliant seafood.
Terrible welcome & rude staff. We booked for a birthday celebration. After staff initially acknowledging us (8.20) and saying we have a table booked at 8.30, we were just ignored & weren’t offered a drink order. At 8.29 we asked how long we might be waiting & we were told “your table is booked for 8.30, it’s not 8.30 yet.” Unfortunately this set the tone for the evening and I wish we’d gone elsewhere despite our waiting staff being helpful thereafter. Whilst when we asked for the bill we were offered a complementary dessert, it didn’t make up for the 2 staff members who should rethink their positions in a customer service industry.
It was my birthday with my family and they only had one special dish left all the rest had sold out and no Malbec either. I have been here many times and this has never happened. I was very disappointed
We love the no nonsense cosy ambiance that feels rustic but service and food are impeccable. Great value for money for London standards. Great value drinks list too. One of the best seafood experiences in London both in taste, cooking and authenticity. We loved it so much booked again to go back in a couple of days.
Love this restaurant. Buzzy, friendly and fun. Food is great and staff super
Outstanding food with friendly efficient service on a very busy Friday evening
Excellent for fish and seafood lovers! Was drawn by Native Lobster Special Deal. However, on arrival (very early for lunch) to check they still had them, was told they didn't that day! I had sent an email with my booking explaining this is why I was coming specially and so was a bit disappointed to hear that even if the offer does state that it is first-come-first-serve and it is an offer for weekdays and we were there for the first possible sitting at lunchtime (the offer is weekdays lunchtime till 5pm). The rest of the menu is pretty expensive - albeit delicious looking! I wondered if this wasn't a cheeky way of getting you in to spend a good deal more than the £20 deal at lunchtime. However, 2 lobsters were found after I'd expressed surprise, given the email and confirmation and it was delicious, simply and perfectly cooked. I would love to come back for a special occasion, but obviously knowing that the usual prices mean it has to be a special occasion (especially for lunch on a weekday)!
I've been to Wright Brothers in Spitalfields before but not Borough. Nice restaurant, good atmosphere. We were sat on the bench overlooking the kitchen which was a little on the noisy side but OK. We shared a house platter and had some king scallops as well, all were absolutely delicious and very fresh. The scallops were perfectly cooked. Great service and reasonable prices, we’ll definitely be back!
One of my favourite places in London its so good! Been here 30 plus times, never disappoints!
Regular and never disappointed.
Staff very accommodating and food as usual superb and very fresh. Dressed crab, pint of prawns and sweetest mussels.
Amazing fresh fish, I give 4* and not 5 because the seating area is very small. But food is really good!
Lovely meal and the usual buzzing atmosphere.
The perfect place for a birthday celebration for my partner
