We were really excited to try the food at the SOHO restuarant. The oysters were lovely. Unfortunately, both mine and my partners lobster was extremely chewy. We gave our feedback to the waitress & chef. They were very good with the feedback so the service was overall great. However, the men's toilet was also totally blocked. Not the best first experience! The oysters are worth going back for though..
We sat outside with seating on vibrant buzzing courtyard. Service ok although initially slow. Good very good and reasonably priced. Good range of wine. Just great relaxed al-fresco dining atmosphere.
We picked Wright bros for the reputation and for a special occasion. The decor was ok- our table was a bit too close to the neighbouring tables for my liking, but comfy enough. The waiting staff were not particularly attentive- I wondered if they were short staffed- they seemed very rushed, the guy at the table
Next to me had to request a wine list specifically (told you we were close!) Our waitress had to look up the details of the oyster selection- not in itself a problem- but when we asked about sharing a whole lobster for two we got a dismissive ‘it comes in two halves anyway’. When the lobster then arrived- there was one small portion of fries so clearly not for two and we had to order another- which came quickly, again not too much of a problem. What was an issue was the lobster- when spending that kind of money on food, you don’t expect one half to be charred (I’m being kind- it was burnt) and dry- and the two halves were quite clearly from two entirely different lobsters- one with a much smaller claw.
When my partner, in the absence of our waitress, had a word with another of the staff (possibly in charge that night, he seemed more senior) he was apologetic and immediately offered another half- which took a while to come out, but when it arrived was a whole world better than the first.
Wine was good and reasonably priced, and otherwise there was no issue with the quality of the meal (although the cheese plate portions were disappointingly small).
My disappointment stems from the feeling that a restaurant purporting to be an experienced seafood specialist really shouldn’t have been sending out a lobster that over- charred in the first place... and why couldn’t we just have had an actual whole lobster rather than the mix and match arrangement?
My apologies to the lady at the next table who got a bit of my lobster shell missile..... (like I said, the tables were close!)
Service was not great. They put our bottle of white on ice by the till and left our glasses empty for about 15 minutes.
Portion size was ridiculous. The £12 scallop ceviche was about 1/2 a scallop.
If you love seafood this is fantastic! Seafood platter are a bot expensive but if you chose from the main menu the price is ok. Outdoor seating is really nice. Our waiter was fantastic and really recommended the best from the menu!
Food was really good, wine was great. We loved the selection of oysters and the champagne. Overall a very good dining experience in a lovely place.
Very friendly, professional and approachable staff. Smooth and easy service, good recommendations and advice about the food and drinks.
first class fish restaurant ,excellent fish recipes and crustacean good and friendly service
Of all the Wright Brother restaurant, this is the worse we have been. In general the quality of Wright Brothers is diminishing in all of their venues lately and even for oysters, which they were famous for, there are much better choices in London. I suggest to go to Wright Brothers Borrow Market - so far the best.
Been to 3 wright brothers now. This is my favourite, good energy. Greeted and seated promptly by a very welcoming smiling tall gentleman. We came for the happy hour £1 oysters they have a special citrus cucumber dip which doesn't exist at the other branches which is a bonus. The dark-skinned waitress we had was attentive and friendly quick and efficient, she ran immediately over to the table to suggest a cocktail for me, unfortunately, I can't drink but we had a lovely laugh about it. A little disappointed as she finished her shift while we had our meal and the second male waitress was a little nonchalant about his section. Otherwise, highly recommended over the spitalfields branch, where service was disappointing from every miserable person who came to the table.
2 day old seafood at south of France prices... easily missed
Really enjoyed this meal. Good octopus option on the small plates. Friendly waitress. Good wine.
The food at Wright Brothers is absolutely fine, but for the high prices this simply isn’t good enough. My main of hake was fine but I could have cooked it better myself as I would have managed to deliver a crispy skin on the fish. My friend has the sea bass with “sea vegetables” this should not be plural as it simply comes with samphire. For these prices you can get incredible food in London. You need to lower your prices or really up the food you deliver.
I go here a lot. The food is always spot on but the wait staff can sometime let the place down. Especially when there is a shift handover. They really need to work on this being more seamless.
Oysters here are always a delightful treat, and the dressed crab is awesomeness
Genrally good food but the cooking of the beef was poor.
Went here for a special night out with friends. We were all craving seafood, but we were quite disappointed. The oysters were okay, but the whelks, mussels and palourds were dreadful! Also, the "small" plates are tiny, they are more like a very small appetizer than anything else.
Seafood platter was delicious as well as the lobster from the main
Nice location and the food was fantastic with very good sevice
Another wonderful evening at Wright Brothers in Soho. The oysters were outstanding, as were the muscles (we order them every time we visit, and they never disappoint). The calamari was perfectly cooked, as was the soft shell crab. I'd highly recommend WB (either in Soho or Borough Market) for a special occasion or date night, or just when you really feel like some oysters!
love this place. Sat in court yard - very atmospheric. Oysters a bargain quid a pop.
We have been before and were not hugely impressed mistakenly booked again with the same result. It is publicised as the best fish restaurant in soho it isn’t sadly.
A place to pamper yourself with exquisite food, first-class service and a relaxing setting. Not ideal for a budget meal, but the seafood is of the highest quality, and beautifully cooked, and the experience is a luxurious one that contrasts with the canteen-style dining and plodding service that can be found in many other central London restaurants (for no less a price) - so overall I’d say it’s good value. If you do want to save pennies, there are some cheaper options on the menu, and see if you can catch the £1/oyster “happy hour” from 3-6pm.
Unfortunately the lowest point is 1 star.
We waited at the bar for our table to be ready, but no one was clearing it. They accommodate us with the dirty staff from the previous guests still there. After more than 10-15 minutes somebody came back to give us the menu and (finally) wipe the table. The waiter disappeared again for another 10 minutes. Somebody came to take the order; we took that opportunity to order everything, water, aperitive and food, otherwise the next tine we would meet the staff would be for Christmas. No body was looking after us, they dropped the drinks, the food, that was all about the service tonight. Food: oysters 10, avocado mousse and crab 4 (pomegranate overpowering the crab, avocado too buttery and creamy covering the crab as well), squid tempura 6, octopus 10. Mains really disappointing, my wife took the hake, plain, no seasoning, clams potatoes and saffron sauce very tasteless, more a broth than a sauce. My hanger steak and prawns was not the best, prawns burned and not easy to peel, at all.
Total bill £130 (including service, which service?) and no one looked interested in what we liked or not. We would probably spend at least 50£ more if somebody was smart enough (2 more glasses of champagne and 6 more oysters, at least)... we just wanted to leave as we felt we wasted our anniversary night.
P.s. Anniversary message and code app message written in the booking, no one was caring about.
Fresh tasty oysters and mains. Recommend. Although the service was not really welcoming and the waitor was a bit rude.
Wonderful experience as always.excellent food and perfect
I love going here - try and get to WB at lease once or twice a month. Oyster happy hour brings me there... plus the pink cocktail (i think it is called a twisted collins - love it!)
The staff were lovely and attentive. The food was good. Sitting outside in the sun, what more could you want :-)
Such a great night at Wright Bros. Soho. The initial greeting and seating was friendly and professional. We were sat at an outside table and on a warm evening there are not many better locations in London and there was a great buzz to the whole area.
Ultimatly though what you want in a restaurant is great food and service and both were present in abundance. Four of us had a range of items from the menu and found all to be excellent. Service was top notch a match for the food and they went out of their way to accommodate my wife who was in a wheelchair. Great evening.
Disappointing that they no longer offer tempura oysters but rest of meal was good
It was OK. nice place but service was rushed and both my wife and I had dicky stomachs the next day??
Good service and ambience but food doesn’t match overpriced dishes. Having said that, £1 oysters offer between 3-6pm is worth going for!
Good quality and well run as expected. Prawns oyster and langoustine all fresh and high quality. Went on a monday, pretty empty/ no need to book really
I'm afraid we were very disappointed. We used to go to the restaurant in Borough Market and thought I try this one for my husbands birthday. We had a selection of 'plates' after oysters and they were poor. The prawns were overcooked, the scallops were unpleasant and the squid tempura was not tempura - it was battered squid (better quality in my local fish and chip shop). I wondered why it was so quiet on a saturday lunch time and now I know. I would have sent it back straight away but didn't want to make a fuss since it was a birthday lunch and my husband, while he agrees, would have felt awkward. The waiting staff were good, dealt with my complaint well and gave a discount but I would rather have had a good meal. I saw another couple complaining about their meal too so I don't think it was just us.
Unless the chef changes or they change the chef I wouldn't recommend.
Have to reserve a special comment for the waitress who served us and was extra thoughtful.
Lovely meal, delicious seafood and great service.
Our drinks were a little slow but our charming waitress made sure we were well looked after.
Came here for our 1st, 3rd and then recently our 6th anniversary. Love this place so much. I was disappointed my 2x favourite Pepper and Almond crab was not on the menu so joined my husband by having the whole lobster too. As always it’s very nice. The oysters were fab too, never disappoint and we just missed out on happy hour where you can get oysters for £1! Homemade Ice cream for dessert as I was so full but wanted something and again it was delicious. Staff were amazing and couldn’t do enough for us.
Be back again soon and if not then then you know it will be for our 9th!
Please bring the Pepper and Almond crab back!
Outside was busy so inside was quiet. Chose booth which looked good but was quite tight. Oysters and salmon sashimi starter were good. Main was ok, sole was underdone. Waiter offered to bring back out, we said no, so they comped some desserts which was appreciated. Overall not bad, food was decent but a bit hit and miss. Used to be a great spot but it feels like it needs some attention. Not many mains on offer - the menu goes more for the sharing plates which may not be everyone's cup of tea.
Absolutely amazing. The decor is fantastic, with a rustic up-cycled theme throughout with bare bulbs. The pictures on the website are very accurate. The waiting staff were lovely - the maître d' called ahead in the afternoon and asked if I had a particular seating area request, and when we arrived we were taken to the exact place and type of seating I asked for (low, comfortable corner seating). The cocktail menu is amazing, and the presentation is beautiful (I went for a Woodford Julep which was presented in a small, personal, copper 'ice bucket'), and the food was exquisite. Very fresh, I chose the chargrilled hanger steak, grilled prawns & garlic butter. Waiting staff were lovely, the tables aren't so close together that you feel like you're on someone else's lap... and you certainly get what you pay for. Fantastic overall experience.
My partner and I had a very enjoyable experience at Wright Brothers Soho. The food was delicious, and the servers were very attentive and nice.
Fantastic time and the food was great.
The wine we chose was great, went well with the oysters.
Waiters were really nice but had to call for them quite a few times to pour more wine or place another order.
