Lovely food and vegan options available for starter and main. No vegan desert unfortunately.

enjoyed our visit. The girl who served us was really lovely, good fun while thoroughly processional. Food wise it was good but my calamari starter was more rubbery than crispy. Surroundings excellent. Thank you to Findlaters

We ordered a selection of starters instead of a main meal and were disappointed. All the food came together.....the garlic bread was dry, the chips were cold, and the chicken wings were dry and had obviously been under a hot lamp for too long. The mussels were ok as was the prawn salad but nothing to write home about.

Food nice but not many fish options which was a surprise. Service was very slow and bathrooms filthy. Lots of nice fish restaurants in Howth so Wrights Findlaters need to up their game.

Once a favourite of ours but no longer. Booked online but they couldnt find the booking when we arrived. (Eventually they did) Ordered three fish and chips. Quality was fine but portion sizes were a third of what we normally expect. Mushy peas were almost thimble sized. My daughters' fish portion was especially small. I complained. The waiter told her to keep eating. Ten minutes later, a finger-sized portion was brought to the table. Insulting!. A manager then came out and said he would 'speak to the chef'. Fifteen minutes later, a proper-sized portion arrived but it should never have happened in the first place. Standards have clearly slipped. Waiting staff appear to be unhappy too and under pressure. Much room for improvement!

Not enough fish choices on the menu
Too much emphasis on meat for main course

Downstairs seemed nice and maybe there was better service there but the upstairs restaurant we were sent to as we had a booking (if we'd walking in we may have been seated downstairs in the bar) was like an afterthought to the place. No interest in serving, everything took a long time including ordering after we arrived. 20 minutes for a pint and the head gone flat when it arrived as it had obviously been ready downstairs the whole time. Lights off upstairs where the toilets were (lights in the toilets were grand), staff taking breaks at a table beside diners. Not huge things but noticeable.

Food was actually very nice when we got it and the setting is lovely, but it felt like it was just left to a few junior staff to keep an eye on the place and downstairs was what they really cared about. Pity.

It is such a pity my seafood chowder, which is one of my ultimate treat/cheat foods, was so bland and tasteless. I couldn't finish it which is unusual for me - and the accompanying brown bread was a bit on the bleugh side, had expected homemade brown bread. That said, my boyfriend's mussel starter was lovely.

Main courses clawed back some of the bad kudos from the starter - my hake was just delicious and the side salad was crisp and fresh. My boyfriend's steak was again delicious, cooked just right and very juicy. Both were benefited by generous amounts of butter in the cooking process!

Desserts were good - his apple tart got the cinammon balance spot on while my creme brulee was creamy... however the crunch of the sugar topping wasn't quite as crisp as I would have liked.
