This was a special dinner with friends and we had such a great time.
The booking was for 6:30 so it was quiet until we arrived.
The staff could not have been more helpful making recommendations which were spot on and making us feel special.
The food was just divine. We had pumpkin and burrata which was truly delicious , arancini was lovely as were the edamame beans. Our main courses were beautiful and everything was so nicely presented.
The location was excellent and there were tables inside and out.
I would LOVE to return.
Food was very good.
The only issue was that service was very delayed, meaning the food took a long time before arriving and the kitchen closed before we could have desert. I put this down to it being an unusually busy night before lockdown 2.0 (i.e. I don't fault the waiters for this).
An unexpected plus was the willingness to make a cocktail not on the menu. Kudos!
Unbelievable - best steak! Highly recommend this place.
Great food and friendly service. Also considering the Covid challenges.
Food was outstanding at XR. Went for bottomless brunch and finally a place who does food quality alcohol for Bottomless. Will definitely Be back.
Excellent, as always!
Our dining experience started off very well but when the food came out the chef was slicing the salt baked fish and told us he was “left alone and there was good burning downstairs.” Politely we told him to sad the burning food and he thanked us and told us he was coming straight back. This did not happen. He did not come back and seeing that he had not finished his job (we watched the other chef give the other table their salt fish and apply the lemon and olive - we were lot given the lemon or olive oil) the polite waiter came over and packed away the rest of the fish and gave us olive oil and lemon claiming that the chef wasn’t coming back. This really put a dampener on our dining experience and we did not enjoy the meal or the experience due to this.
The experience in this restaurant is always amazing! The service is incredible, the food is always innovative and delicious and the wine pairing is always a whole different level! It is definitely a must in London!
Amazing food, service and atmosphere!
I honestly had no idea what to expect. The members of staff were great, they were attentive without being intrusive.
As for the food, although a little on the pricey side. It was absolutely beautiful, perfectly prepared and tasted fantastic. For a nice atmosphere with a loved one, I would happily go again. Would I recommend the restaurant...100% yes. A lovely meal and not rushed in any way. It was fairly close to perfect.
Perhaps the week after lockdown is not the best time to go to a restaurant although I expected one's that should have been of this calibre to at least try and get it right. There was confusion from the outset about the set menu and I am still confused as to why it was not offered as the head waiter later said it would be available.
I was offered a watered down version of the casual dining menu which was not what I came for to be honest. Was happy to pay £34 for half a bottle of wine which was at least nice but everything else was a real let down given what I had chosen this restaurant for. Food was 'ok' but nothing more.
A real shame.
The staff are charming and the food outstanding. It is very quiet on a Tuesday lunchtime, other times and days may be completely different. The frosted windows are a problem. People passing by cannot see what a delightful interior is on offer and the sense of being cut off from the outside world gives the internal ambience a sterile and deadening effect. Because curiosity drove my companion and to explore, we discovered a wonderful chef, but removal of the frosting would make a big difference. In summer when the doors can be open it creates an entirely better ambience. We will continue to go there for the food and staff.
Fantastic casual dining in Marylebone. 10/10 service and 10/10 food. Will definitely be back again. Staff mentioned they are doing a brunch from March - will definitely be back for that!
Dear Guest, Thank you for a fantastic review. We are delighted you enjoyed your visit and we will be very happy to see you again soon! Best wishes, Xier/XR Team.
Starters very tasty and good sized portions. Main was very nice but side dishes a bit small.
The food was outstanding. Very fresh. The service was really good. Very attentive and helpful. 5 stars. Will definitely go back.
A perfect evening spent dining at Xier the service was impeccable and the food, scrumptious and beautifully presented. It was quite, but we were eating early in the evening.
We decided on the spur of the moment to try XR and weren’t disappointed. The food and service were excellent, as was the cocktail list. Because it was January the restaurant was very quiet, but we would still recommend it. We’ll be back and will probably try Xero next time.
Empty restaurant for business lunch in run up to Christmas. Very limited menu choices, relaxed rather than proactive service and loud party music played. Awful experience.
Fantastic dining at XR London. We went to try their new "sharing concept" menu and went for 5 starters and 2 of the 1KG mains between 4 of us. Every . single dish we had: beef skewers, burrata, mussels, Tacos, 1KG T-Bone & 1KG Seabass - was prepared excquisitely. The service was exceptional and the team at XR made us feel very welcome during our entire meal. Great place for dinner and we will definitely be returning. P.S Their signature cocktails are TO DIE FOR.
Another delightful meal with the friendly team at XR. A great wine list and delicious food.
We went as a couple, and all the mains are 1kg - it says on the menu "for 2 or 4 to share", but if you are having a starter each, or even if you are just sharing a main, 1kg of meat is a lot for 2 people. So we ended up just sharing 5 starters between us, none of which were particularly good, though some were less bad than others. The ambience is also a bit strange, with opaque glass windows so you couldn't look out into the street, and it just felt quite claustrophobic.
Service verged on being slightly intrusive / over-attentive, perhaps because we were the only diners there the whole time - which, given that it was 1pm on a Saturday afternoon on Marylebone High Street, should set the alarm bells ringing. I would not recommend dining at XR to anyone, which is a shame, because Xier upstairs is lovely!
Delicious food. Menu is limited but every dish was truly wonderful and perfectly cooked and presented. They need to get their lighting right....there is an odd combination of warm and cold light in there. I think that they need to go for the warm as the cold blue made it too impersonal. That is a shame as the maitre d' and the waitress were charming.
The food was delicious and the set lunch menu good value. Music was too loud for easy conversation but they turned down the volume when we asked. Wine by the glass was pretty pricey - Go for a bottle! No toilet paper in Ladies' loo.
Disappointing & Misleading.
On arrival at the restaurant for our booking we were told that the set lunch menu we were expecting was not available & only a more expensive £55 set menu available even though that menu wasn't advertised on restaurant website.
We decided to stay & give the menu a try but were disappointed. The starters we chose were fine but my fish & chips was awful, small serving of fish with batter so overly fried it was hard & inedible with a few cold chips. My friend's main of the chicken was so poorly displayed it looked like something was missing with the serving.
Dessert was a choice of pancake & maple syrup or jelly with fruit, cream & icecream. We chose one each and while my pancake was fine though not flavoursome, my friends choice turned up with no jelly! When she called waitress over she was told menu had changed & jelly not available so all she had was a dish of whipped cream with a few chopped strawberries so she just had the strwaberries & left most of the cream.
When we tried to complain about the meal when asked about our dining experience, we were cut off with the comment 'try Xier our other restaurant, the food is better'. We'd actuaully gone to XR as a precursor to trying the 10 course tasting menu for dinner at Xier sometime but after our dining experience on Saturday that is no longer something we wish to do.
Stunning food, stunning place and super service. Everyone should go and visit this super restaurant in the heart of the west end. Across the five of us we sampled almost everything on the menu and it was all top stuff. Fantastic.
Food was absolutely awful couldn’t even eat more than one bite. We all felt sick and the fish stank so bad 🤮. Do not recommend!!!!
Saturday night at 8 pm. We were the only guests in the restaurant. That didn't augur well. We wanted to eat in Xier fine dining, but it was full, when we tried to book so we opted for XR casual dining. When we got there we asked if Xier had a table. No, they were 'closed for renovations'. Strange, first full, then closed for renovations, for a restaurant that has only recently opened. So we stuck with XR. Mistake.
Started of with fried squid to share. India rubber would have been more tasteful. The Viadejo we ordered was luke warm which we commented on. They put it into a container with ice, but the second glass was still not cold, so we ordered ice to put into our wine (!!). Still the penny didn't drop. And as the restaurant was empty the serving, bar and kitchen staff left one by one, giving us the feeling that we were being left on a sinking ship. Too bad.
The ceviche, tuna tartar and chicken were delicious, but by then the evening had been ruined.
It was very disappointing and overpriced
Our enjoyment of good food was impaired by the noisy, unwelcome and uninteresting music. In response to our dislike of a table right by a loudspeaker, we were moved to another table with a larger loudspeaker. Only as we were in the process of paying and leaving did our server switch off the speaker by our table, saying it could have been switched off at any time.
Food was pretty good. Fish and chips was amazing
The service was super attentive, catered to our needs, recommended drinks for our food and were really friendly and accommodating. The truffled linguine was perfect as were the sliders and the non-alcoholic cocktail I was recommended.
Always a pleasure visiting this place, the food is outstanding and service is amazing.
Amazing food, fabulous service & lovely ambiance. The truffle pasta is to die for & the beetroot sorbet is a gastronomic delight. Can’t wait to go back
It just wasn’t our kind of restaurant. The food was ok and the service was very friendly and attentive. Just no atmosphere and nothing special. We found the decor very cold and clinical. Maybe we’re too old! We won’t return but wish XR every success.
On a hot afternoon XR was a haven of quiet and cool. It might be much noisier in the evenings but wonderful at lunchtime. The food was delicious, perfectly balanced and my fish was fabulously fresh.
I like the atmosphere in the restaurant, however the food was not convincing. The truffle fries were if anything average (no truffle really) and the tuna steak was completely well done. The side for the tuna arrived when we were almost done. Not a great experience.
A quiet Tuesday evening but despite being busy upstairs in Xier we had a delightful delicious meal and service standards extremely high.

We had an excellent dinner at XR. Every dish we ordered was flavourful, creative, well presented and most importantly delicious. We shared 8 dishes in all which allowed us to sample a lot of the menu. The tuna tartare is always a winner but my favourite this time was the beet salad. Enjoy and don’t forget to leave room for dessert!

Food excellent, service charming, the frosted glass windows are weird, make the atmosphere flat, so we will go back but it won't be a favourite until the windows open for the summer.

Really good food.
Very quiet lunchtime but that didn't spoil the experience.
We booked a 1.30 table and the booking system suggested that the restaurant was open all afternoon but that we might only have the table for 2 hours.
Turns out is closes at 2.30 so the staff were understandably a little restless, but still very polite, by the tome we left at 3.30.
