Ye Olde Swan
We came for a birthday meal. I went and ordered from the bbq and my partner went to order from the pizza van, we were both told the wait was 20-30mins for food which was perfectly acceptable on a busy day. The bbq food came on time however the side order of onion rings for £5 were cremated the boys tried to be polite but they were inedible so I took them back and they brought us some fresh ones within 10 mins which were very nice. My fish burger was ok but had been over cooked. My partner and I started to eat our food hoping the pizzas wouldn’t be too far behind for the boys. An hour later the pizzas still hadn’t arrived We had been waiting patiently as we understood it was busy but being told 20-30 mins and still no sign an hour later we were not impressed so he went back up to ask what had happened. We often come to the swan and enjoy it but this experience has put us off a bit. The food on the whole is tasty but we feel it is a bit over priced for what it was.
The food was very good, we had the burgers plus chips. The covid19 measures they've put in place worked very well even though the pub was very busy.
Excellent place by the Thames, arrived 1pm on a Friday and was busy. Good social distancing. good food, good cider, definitely come back.. many thanks.
Really great place to visit. Our children loved the giant paddle boarding whilst we sat and had drinks. The food was great value, really yummy and prompt to come out. The girls working there work so hard and are very accommodating. All felt very clean and safe. Only thing I would say is the ladies toilet seat had come off so needs replacing.
Overall a lovely experience :) would definitely return again :)
We booked the table on line turning up every was sorted with all the routes etc clearly marked and well organised, we had a pleasant meal.
The food was delicious and the setting was beautiful. Having thoroughly read the website, we booked a table for 5pm (a 2 hr slot) only to find out on arrival, that the bbq didn’t start until 6pm. This did stress us out a little, as we had children to feed and were worried that we’d only have an hour left of our 2 hr slot to order and eat. Perhaps we missed something on the website?! Either way, we felt it could have been made clearer when booking, as with that knowledge, we’d have booked a table for 6pm. Overall, happy with our experience. Thank you.
Great welcome by the staff, we turned up over an hour late having cycled from Oxford, the receptionist found us a table with little fuss, and had a ‘nothing is too much trouble’ attitude.
We've booked in the restaurant...
Receive table in the garden on windy weather in rain without cover or umbrella...
Bit disappointed that we went to have pizza and it wasn’t being served until 5pm.
Felt rushed to order, As needed to change what we wanted.
I can say that they where amazing organised with everything in place. With the current suituation.
Food was ok, served on disposable, and pint in plastic.
Shame as it was our 1st trip out for a birthday treat.
It was like an overrpiced McDonald's. The BBQ food was really low quality for the price (overcooked chicken in a supermarket nun) and we were expected to clear our own table. I think the pizzas were a better option.
Fantastic place, we camped there and will be back again for sure
Given the current climate we had a great time at Ye Olde Swan. The pub had everything arranged and in hand with regards to toilet access and queuing systems for food and the bar. Everyone was very friendly and the girls working on the greeting and table service were fantastic and on hand should you have any problems. The food was just the BBQ menu which was perfect for us and the homemade pizzas (on a Friday) are superb...!!!!
It was for a change a warm evening. It was great to have a table by the river and we watched the boats. The food was well presented hot and good. All staff either at the bar and barbecue area were very polite and helpful. Look forward to returning in the near future. We came with visiting family who also enjoyed themselves.
Nice staff, food OK but menu too limited. Lovely location.
Excellent COVID precautions and yet they didn’t take away from the ambience of the pub. Lovely location and great pub food. Kids were really happy.
I didn’t really enjoy my food as the choice was limited and not what I wanted . This is due to Covid though and I appreciated the lengths the pub had gone to to provide a safe environment. The staff were friendly and the environment very welcoming .
Great organisation to maintain social distancing and a safe environment
We had booked several days before as we were camping here for two nights. We were looking forward to burgers from the bbq, but were told on arrival that it was closed as they had run out of food! The only option was the pizza oven. The menu here was limited, and they must have been running out of dough as the pizzas were paper thin. Nearly £25 for two pizzas and we were still hungry afterwards. How can you run out of food when everyone has to prebook?
Food overpriced for what it was. Pizza was lovely but burger and chips extremely overpriced for a meal that we could have hot off a burger van.
Great atmosphere. Love the surroundings.
Would recommend for the surroundings and ambience but not the food available at present.
Well organised and social distancing followed well.
Had burger and chips for £10. Burger was ok but nothing to write home about. Nice having bar in garden rather than queueing in pub.
Overall nice to have couple drinks after a good walk.
Well organised, well supervised, a lovely setting on a beautiful sunny day.
The food really was poor. We ordered tempura vegetables which were clearly made from freezer vegetables and still cold inside, the pizza was ok but ingredients on top were raw and so we suppose that they were added afterwards, the sausage was clearly from the previous day's bbq and made me nauseaus. Overall the very poor quality food spoiled what could have been an excellent experience as the location is so lovely, right beside the river.
I know covid is happening but food over priced and very basic! Burger and chips or veg burger and chips! Sad really as I had family over to visit.
Great location and good food / service considering the current restictions.
Really enjoyed our first post lockdown pub meal. Lovely location and garden. Thank you.
Nice setting, outside eating only from limited bbq menu stuck on table. Made even more limited as two items not available which was disappointing as had seen on website prior and wanted the fillet of fish. Friendly staff.
Fantastic traditional pub, reduced menu due to covid which is understandable but great set up especially considering social distancing and amazing location on the Thames.
We were greeted by a very friendly young girl, who explained the rules for us and showed us to our table. Carmen served at outside bar and she worked tirelessly, serving each customer with a smile and I was very impressed at how efficient she was. My only complaints would be that sometimes groups were going to the bar together (we thought that wasn’t allowed) and also there was a drunk man who got very close to the staff and even shook one man’s hand. These 2 things tainted an otherwise, really enjoyable experience.
Went for a birthday, very relaxed and clean. Even with the COVID rules and regulations we all felt at ease and really safe. Food was amazing, lovely bbq great value for money. We will definitely be returning! one of my new favourite places!
A lot of thought put in by the owners for outdoor social distancing tables. Observed regular cleaning. Very well organised.
Outdoor seating only - perfect on a nice day as pub is by the river Thames although there is a camp site and boaters on the island. It was a little noisy and during this current climate although the tents were well spaced apart it was noticeable that some campers/boaters were in large groups.
Arrows directing customers to the indoor toilets, straightforward enough.
Outdoor bar well stocked.
Ales good - well kept.
Food a little on the pricey side for the quality, but tasty enough and still worth trying.
Lovely meal and lovely place but I was over charged my meal which I should have gone back to rectify but the food bar area was busy and I didn’t walk away with a receipt so left it.
Terrible! Only serving burgers and a few fried extra's (onion rings, mozzarella sticks, chips etc). Burger meat in a bun was was all you got for 10 pound, everything else was 1 pound extra, fried onions 1 pound!!! NO service as you had to get everything yourself, so gauging when the food was ready was a bit tricky and then having to go back for sauces etc. Shame as we used to go here all the time as used to be excellent but won't bother again :(
Lovley spot, nice people, all good, would recommend and visit again :-)
Felt very safe in these difficult times. The food choice was very limited and expensive for what it was. It is also very weather depended. Overall for our first trip out since March it was a good experience.
Unfortunately there is so much more that could be done with this pub than has been a lovely setting but not used to its full advantage . There is nothing more that can be said about the food than terrible With very and I mean very little choice
Come on guys get a grip on what you’ve got there is so much room for improvement
Greeted very nicely when we arrived even though we were early for our table that we had booked and seated straight away. Very organised so that people were spread apart well. Very calm atmosphere and we enjoyed a lovely afternoon with drinks and food.
Lovely staff. The macaroni cheese is AMAZING!
Great atmosphere. Lovely people and service and fab food with good choice for vegans. We will be back! And dog friendly too.
Lovely country pub with good choice of tasty food. Very cosy by the fire
