Awesome food. And excellent friendly service. Tofu, sushi sashimi all great. Want to try udon but not doing right now. Back in fall
Very disappointed with the food
The restaurant was empty and it was still poor
Should have left as there must be a reason it was empty on a Saturday evening
I’m just taken aback at how poor the food was !!!
Supposed to be fine dining
Can’t get my evening back and wasted our anniversary there !
The food and menu are exceptional in their lack of inspiration. The food quality was mediocre but the absolute worst aspect of the evening was the presence of rodents scurrying around the restaurant. While Ratatouille was a delightfully entertaining film, in real life mice underfoot in a restaurant is less than comforting, not to mention the serious health and hygiene concerns the issue raises. Until their pest control abate, it would be advisable to avoid this establishment.
Soba was not available, while website shows Its in the dinner menu :( we came for the soba... anyway food was good as usual
Truly authentic Japanese cuisine. Combination of fresh ingredients and highly skilled sushi chef creates amazing food. My old friend from Japan was very impressed saying that foods are even better than Tokyo’s. Chef at sushi counter is very friendly and polite. Staff has good knowledge about menus and Japanese sake. Very very satisfied.
It was fantastic! Literally good. I had sushi too much..
The quality of ingredients used was excellent, some of the freshest fish I have had at a Japanese restaurant in London. Sake selection was great. Shame there is no soba noodles currently as that was great the last time I had it here.
While we craved a fine sushi place on the final eve of our holiday, we were extremely disappointed with the portions, limited menu, and the cost for what we paid for. Essentially, we left Yen hungry and I was alarmed how much it cost for such disappointment.
There was a mouse in the restaurant, and the staff tried to hide it.
It was sad that there’s no Soba and soba master at the restaurant until further notice. The vegetable steamed rice was a little bit salty, that was a second disappointment. However other dish was excellent and I enjoyed it.
Fabulous food - had the chefs specials and they were out of this world. Deep fried courgette flowers, beef grilled at the table on a magnolia leaf ... delicious 😋 A high quality Japanese restaurant, not cheap but you get what you pay for - first class cuisine!
Great service. Food taste well and sashimi is fresh. However, we went for Soba but were told there wasn't a chef available to make it. It doesn't affect the overall experience to me.
Portions were too small for what they charge! Pity.
Restaurant is somewhat hidden away in a bland office block. There is seating outside which is lovely for a pre-dinner Side-Car or two. Once inside we say at the sushi bar and enjoyed wonderful Tuna, Sea Urchin and other sushi. Outstanding. Black cod excellent. I could not fault the food. Not cheap, but a lovely dinner. Quiet on a Friday evening.
TOP PLACE LIKE IN THERE PARIS RESTAURANT. FRESH, NICE PRESENTATION. THE PLACE DECORATION ALSO IS WONDERFULL
Terrible service when there were only two tables and more staff than customers. Only two of us dining and got my main 10 mins before my friends, and 15 mins later no rice with vegetables.. and had to cancel it so we could eat our now cold food. Very bizarre response and service. £85 for sharing tempura (4 prawns) and two small mains of lamb and cod with one soft drink. Also had the cheek to add on gratuity. Would definitely not recommend unless you enjoy spending big money on having a terrible experience and service. The sommelier was nice.
It’ s spacious and comfortable. However, food is just on the average side, service is OK. There are plenty of other choices.
One of the best restaurants I’ve ever been. The quality of the food is superb, great recommendations out of the daily menu are amazing. The restaurant has a beautiful decoration and the service is up to the expectations. Highly recommended.
We were 20 mins late as our train was 2.5hours delayed whilst in transit. We arrived at Yen in our day wear due to us being stuck on the train so we didn’t have time to change and freshen up. However, we knew we looked a mess but as soon as we arrived, we were made to feel welcome as soon as we entered. We were here for a celebratory meal. Food was fantastic and the wine was just as good. Very reasonable prices for such good quality food and drinks.
The only small point was reminding the staff of our wine. If the bottle was on our table we would have poured it ourselves no problem but it wasn’t and we had emptied glasses. As I said, this was just a small point but something that otherwise would have given us a flawless service. Thank you!!
Great great great food, service was on point. One of the best best restaurant in London when you are carving 100/100 Japanese cuisine. Literally everything we had was a surprise. Outstanding.
Great sushi experience, traditional flavors set in a modern ambience. Also try their handmade soba!
We went to Yen specially for the Soba but when we arrived we were told that the chef wasn't in the country and there was no Soba on the menu.
Then despite telling the front of house one of the party was vegetarian we were served a dish with fish stock. Whilst the guest knew instantly we had to ask 3 front of house and 3 chefs before we finally got an answer that it did indeed contain fish stock. It was quite frankly ridiculous that none of the staff knew what was in the dishes and that we were highly recommended this dish in the first place (if this had been an allergen it could have been even worse).
A hugely disappointing experience all around and not what I would expect at this price point
Fantastic Dinner Experience on a quiet evening. Very high quality Sushi and Sashimi. Very finely balanced marinade for the Black Cod. Good service all evening. It was an experience to see the chefs at work. We will come back!
Great find - a buzzy space serving fresh and beautifully-presented fusion food. Service very attentive at first but drifted halfway through the evening. Not cheap but reasonable value for money by central London standards.
We had a wonderful dining experience at Yen. The attention to detail was not only in the food but in the service too. The soba and the sushi were equally absolutely delicious.
yummy, authentic japanese food. was not able to try and soba, so will go back again. went on a monday, very empty (maybe bc there was no soba, so rmb to check before you go!)
I thought the quality of the food was great! The Soba and the Rice pot were delicious. Alo the Home made Tofu! I didn't actually have any of the mains so would go back to try those. I wouldn't really recommend for the sushi and sashimi as I didn't feel they were as strong as the rest of the menu. I love the decor and architecture. I thought the staff were great and friendly. Service out of the kitchen was a little slow and there isn't that much of a vibe but it did feel very Japanese!
Excellent as always.
no quite sure, Yen in Paris is outstanding, where here the service was slow, our waitress together with the manager couldn't bring 3 starters at the same time.. overall it was so-so unfortunately
The soba and sobatsuyu is authentic and impressive. Both food and service are just Japanese style. The staff is not too casual and not too friendly, but he is polite and kind. Ambience is better than Paris.
Excellent quality sushi.
Service can be inattentive at times.
You can find better value for similar quality elsewhere.
Overall would return.
sea urchin is good and best. Cold soba is great and bring me back to Kyoto. Will come again！
Perfect brunch spot. Lunch set menu is good since you will be able to taste a lot of dishes. Portion is a little too much for a girl
The service could not have been slower. We sat at 7.30 and and it was 9.20 all we had to eat at our table was a salad to be shared by four people. Deserts arrived at approximately 10.20! The only thing that came swiftly, and twice!, was the bill. Not a bargain at £347 for four people. We will not be visiting again....
very quiet but absolutely delicious food and great service
Disappointing service and food was good but didn’t really meet our expectations. No atmosphere, ambiance is very flat and service doesn’t seem to be intuitive nor genuine.
My friend and I had lunch box with the choice of Soba. Our main reason to visit this restaurant was to taste the soba but I was disappointed. I also felt that the high ceiling and a table we were given were not comfortable.
Lovely open space, open kitchen. Great service, authentic Japanese cuisine.
Great for families too as space for high chair/buggies.
Food is overpriced and the waiting time for the food was really long.
The lunch menu is good value, but the restaurant lacks atmosphere. It was lunch time and only 3 or 4 tables were taken and its such a large space and at the same time it feels a bit cold.
