We like Yeni and often visit for lunch. On this occasion however, with a new waiter looking after us, confusion and mistakes happened.
I found myself paying £41.50 (1/4 share of £166.00 bill) for a roll, a couple of glasses of water, one glass of very nice white wine, a smaller portioned snow pea salad starter, no main - veggie dumplings (think it was passed to another guest on our table) - and a panna cotta followed by a cup of mint tea.
I have never before in the dozen or so times we have visited had such frustration here.
Wonderful restaurant, the food is delicious, the service excellent, but it is too noisy.
Extraordinary tasteful and delicious Turkish cuisine presented to Londoners. Very friendly stuff outstandingly authentic fresh well prepared ingredients such a treat I was there on my Valentine’s Day date with my girlfriend we both left super satisfied and super happy after trying out any restaurant
Great food. Had the lunch menu and it is unbeatable on a value and flavour basis. Great staff. Will be going again
The food is excellent, the service warm and helpful and the atmosphere is the exactly the right mix of thought-through but informal. We had a lovely time!
I loved the actual restaurant - really nice atmosphere and service, but the food was indifferent and really expensive. Beetroot sorbet with fritters anyone? And very expensive - the bill for two, and we only had two starters each and one dessert, was £85, which I thought extortionate. When was the last time you went to a Turkish restaurant and had to pay for bread? Normally they give you so much you leave it. So, nice try but I won't be back.
We had an absolutely fantastic experience at Yeni. It was our first time at the restaurant. Every single dish was delicious. Staff provided excellent service, suggestions, and attention. They knew we were going to a theater afterwards and made sure that our meal was done in a timely fashion. We were visiting London and found this restaurant on OpenTable.
Our friends, who actually live in London, had never been to Yeni and were delighted to find such a fabulous restaurant. Looking forward to dining there again in the future. Our compliments to the chef and staff. Thank you for such a great evening.
This was one of the best dining experiences we’ve ever had. The food is out of this world. We have started with small sharing plates and kept on ordering. All were amazing whereas the yogurt dumplings were the best. We had beef ribs and lamb shank as main course. Both were impeccably seasoned, cooked to perfection and incredibly delicious. To finish the meal, we had crisp pastry and pudding fritters with house made ice cream which were rich and delicious. The atmosphere of the restaurant is great and the decor is cool right from the doorway. Staff were attentive and friendly.
Excellent food and service throughout. Ideal for lunch or for dinner parties.
Tasty food, good vibe. Will revisit definitely.
Delicious food, but really small portions for your money, a bit stingy really.
Great starters, aged feta and dumplings in particular. Mains way overpriced. Octopus not well cooked. Lamb not special depapite £20+ price.
Very nice place, good food and friendly staff
New vision on Turkish cuisine. Especially the manti is a journey to heaven
We were two couples who we dine together regularly. This is the first time we all had a great meal. Amazing authentic food, nice ambiance and impeccable service.
Fantastic!.... We are so pleased with the experience and can't wait to go again.
Great restaurant, central location.
Very welcoming and friendly team - shown to an upstairs table with a view to the street.
A loud birthday party added to the atmosphere - while a little raucous they had a great time and we were happy to help the celebration.
Our waiter was clearly an expert - he knew the menu very well and helped us pick the courses for our meal.
We started with apple and ginger gin based cocktails - really good.
We had relied on the waiter to pick all of the dishes - and honestly every dish was perfect - indeed at one point we all became quite emotional as the food was just so good (we had nearly finished and were simply not ready for the meal to be over!)
We shared five starters - aubergine dumplings , olive-oil braised beetroot, pan-fried feta, prawn-stuffed vine leaves and grilled lamb sausages. Every dish was amazing!
We then had a bulgur fritter with mushrooms, slow-roasted beef-ribs and roasted lamb shank. Plus a side of Kisir salad. Again, faultless.
It is not often that every element of a meal has been so well prepared and presented that it exceeds every expectation. The waiter enhanced the whole experience by providing a detailed explanation for every dish as well as backstory that really showcased the Turkish cuisine.
So sad they are closed on Sundays!!!
Had an amazing meal here before Christmas with three friends of mine. Booked a table for two this time. I was having dinner with a friend I'd not seen in over a year.
It took 2.5 hours for us to have 1 starter, two mains and two desserts because we were left unattended for so long between courses with the menus in our hands, knowing what we wanted. We ordered two rounds of drinks, the second round was forgotten about until I prompted the waiter (we gave him 20min to remember, I'm a patient man, having worked in service myself). Her duck was very dry. I ordered the sea bass. The flavour and texture was nice but it was quite challenging to eat because of all the bones. Really nothing special. Steak tartare for starters and desserts were very nice indeed.
Overall, felt neglected and let-down, then handed a bill for £140.
Great food, excellent ambience. Bit pricey but then it is Soho.
Unusual (for London) high quality Turkish.
Every meal was amazingly delicious
Excellent by any means! Food is awesome so is the service, and the rest
Delicious food, with unusual combinations. Great drinks menu with a good selection of non-alcoholic options. Very friendly staff
Really enjoyed the food, starters were good to, real Turkish cuisine with a twist, service was great friendly and welcoming.
But when it come to deserts we Katmer but found that it did not taste very sweet but full taste of pistachio also ordered Turkish coffee which I love it’s taste was not great,
Well we payed £150 for two, so iam not sure if you can say value for money...
Delicious and unusual food for meat-eaters and vegetarians alike. Very welcoming and knowledgeable service and a warm and calm atmosphere.
Wonderful food and service .
Portions too small.
Not a stuffy place to go dine out in central. Great twist on Turkish cuisine well worth a visit.
Whiskey sour was epic to finish on too..
Great, healthy food. Beautifully presented. Very helpful and friendly wait staff. Can't wait to go back.
amazing food, so surprising! maybe a bit expensive for a lunch though
The staff were friendly and it felt like a family restaurant. The service was impeccable and the food was a great modern take on traditional dishes. We will go again.
The only slight disappointment was the price of the wines, but that won’t stop us going again.
My recent trip to Yeni was a very pleasant experience. I was immediately welcomed by a engaged and warm 'M'aitre Dee' which always a plus as it gets the whole experience off to a warming start (not always the case as often they can be a tad how shall we say politely ...nope cant do it 'Up themselves'..and this was not the case here whatsoever). I was given a window seat which is fun in Soho around Chrimbo as you see all sorts tottering around. The food was pretty good all round if not the spectacular... what really stays with me were the dumplings and the 'feta' cheese and inneed the octopus. All served in a friendly, engaging manner without too much nonsense (must hire well here). The room itself is light airy and yet cosy-enough for the London grey winters not to feel cold and antiseptic. I whiled a way a great 2 hours with a friend and client, exchanging comments and recommendations with the folks at the next table. The place seems conducive to that as it just has a nice vibe. Thanks so much for the team for delivering a real pleasant and warming experience. I felt good going in but felt even better coming out. Job done. Merry Xmas.
Wonderful flavours. Really great ambience. We had a fantastic evening at Yeni, I recommend it without hesitation.
Fab and really interesting food. It took a while to be given the drinks list but thereafter service was really great and unusually for a soho restaurant really felt relaxed and under no pressure to hurry for them to turn tables. The acoustics may need some thought as it felt loud downstairs but as we were close to the door maybe that didn't help.
Not cheap but definitely memorable and would love to return.
Great spot. We loved everything we ordered. Starters are amazing and good to share. We had octopus and sea bass as main which were perfectly cooked and delicious. We hope to be back soon.
I’d give the food 6 stars if I could.
Spectacular flavours - traditional and enterprising. It was an exceptional dining experience. The fish and the artichoke dishes are a must.
Especially loved the choice of wine glasses, very clever to ensure the bouquet was enjoyed.
Don’t go if you’re looking to pig out - as it’s not that type of restaurant.. it’s a dining experience to be savoured.
Simply wonderful. Sublime food and exemplary service. Give it a try as it's a great experience.
Delicious food and stunning location. We had an amazing experience.
He’s the food superstar of Turkey. Strongly recommended
To begin the food is delicious. Everything we ordered, and we had just about the whole menu, was fantastic.
That said, the service was abysmal. Kudos to Open Table on this one. The hostess literally shooed my husband away when we asked for a table. We all went down the block searching for a restaurant to eat, opened the AP and made a reservation for a table to sit 10 minutes later. Thank you Open Table! But seriously the staff was confused and the drinks were always delayed.
The food was good. The service was extremely patchy - only got served after we got up to ask someone to come to the table, then 45 min wait between starters and mains. One nice but harried waiter, two behind the bar polishing glasses looking on. Promised conversation with the manager never materialized. Insanely, ear-splittingly loud. All hard surfaces, thumping music. Arms race of volume resulting in shouting among guests, to be heard. I went to this location when it was under previous ownership and I know it’s possible to run a restaurant in this place without doing this. In an era where smart restauranteurs are padding their ceilings for better acoustics, this was a bizarre and painful throwback. Worst restaurant experience we’ve had for a while.
