Good foods, great service, nice presentations and amicable chef. We had a great time
My birthday dinner couldn’t be more perfect here. Food was authentic Thai and service was excellent, the ambiance was sophisticated chic
Went for lunch and it was really loud. The food was excellent but I felt it was a little pricey as compared to other Thai restaurants I frequent.
First, the food, particularly the appetizers, was delicious. The only complaint we had was that we were unable to alter the level of spice in the dishes, according to our server. We would have preferred to add a little more "heat" to a couple of the dishes, just for variety, but were told we could not change the level of spiciness.
The next problem was that the restaurant was out of a couple of fairly popular beers and a wine when we dined there. We found this very disappointing, especially for a Thursday night.
Our biggest problem was that the restaurant was no more than 40% full, but because of the design of the restaurant (a long hallway filled with hard surfaces), we could not hear conversations across our own table, but could hear those from both ends of the restaurant, and no one was even being loud. It's as though we were in an echo chamber.
Perhaps the Chef's Table dinner would be great, but for ordinary dining, we won't be back.
First off, the restaurant was humid and not comfortable. Asked them about AC and the went and checked and never said anything else to me about it but the temp did not change. Food was a solid 7 out of 10. Ribs were good but other appetizers were only okay.
Service was not good. Constantly felt rushed from the time we sat down. Food was delivered with no explanations, no chopsticks and no checking in us to see how we were doing.
Same issue with entrees which were again okay, but the Snapper was not. Comes standing up and very difficult to eat. We had to ask to change plates and they didn't ask us if we needed anything or if we wanted more to eat.
When we were done they brought the check without even asking if we wanted dessert, which we did end up ordering.
I would not come back here, would not recommend and had I not been a party of 7, which meant and automatic service 18%, I would have tipped less.
There are much better places to spend $$ on this restaurant.
The waiter was extremely disruptive during the meal. Constantly interrupting but not excusing himself, asking for the entree order when we had barely just gotten the appetizer and were mid bite, didn’t ask if I wanted another alcoholic beverage when I had finished it, dropped the bill off on the table without asking if we were interested in dessert or a night cap. The bartender served us diet tonic in our drinks though we didn’t ask for it. If the restaurant had run out of regular tonic we should have been asked if were interested in diet tonic or a different drink. And when we asked about it there was no offer to resolve the situation or an offer for different drinks. To add insult to injury as we were finishing our meal and there were other tables of guests in the restaurant, the staff started bringing out brooms to clean the restaurant. So unappetizing. A low budget place pretending to be high end.
As always it was great food and service!
The food was excellent and the service was good. We will be returning.
Great food and friendly staff! Will definitely dine there again.
Our table wasn't ready and we were stuck upstairs with a party of 20. They didn't have two bottles of wine we selected (found an adequate substitute, but one of the choices presented was 3 times as expensive and the waiter didn't bother to tell us) and service was pretty slow. Our waiter remained pleasant even though it was obvious we weren't happy. The food was fairly good. This was our second visit and the first was much better. However, I wouldn't recommend unless you want a very noisy experience.
We tried their special menu and it was worth every penny!
We head a party of 8 and ordered 6 different Entrees including their signature dish, of which I ordered. It was a Red Snapper dish that in my opinion was not pleasant. I love fish and could not eat eat this dish because it was very fishy tasting, stale, a bit chewy, clearly not the catch of the day as presented on the menu (and confirmed when ordered). I could not even eat it. The spices and traditional Thai flavors were off on all but 1 dish. Since I was paying, normally I would have kindly asked for replacement dishes for 3 of 6 of our Entrees. But I did not want to embarrass anyone in our group so We shared the other dishes and ate what we could. The noise level was so high our entire group was highly stressed by the time we were able to pay and leave. In my opinion it was way overpriced. Walked away feeling like we had just fallen victim to something.
Good food, great music, nice ambience. Love it. Ordered Tom yum kong, crispy sofshell crabs, lobster pad Thai, duck curry, masalang curry and mango sticky rice... All are good.
Excellent food and very nice atmosphere. I will be dining here again!
The food here is phenomenal! Very fresh. However - We always have hiccups with the service. We have to wave our waiter down for refills on iced tea, etc. All in all, very good experience but could be made better by more attentive servers.
Chef’s table did not disappoint. Lots of variety with the chef trying out different variations of some common Thai dishes. Most worked..a few did not but we loved the experimentation! Very attentive staff with excellent service! Will be back to try the “regular” menu soon!
I came here expecting a really delicious meal. First of all chef Jira is a well known name to me and I knew that I would be eating authentic food. Anyhow, I paid $6 to park in the garage next to the restaurant and I walked across the street. By the way, u pay for the parking on the way out so keep your ticket with u. There was one waiter and one bus boy for the whole restaurant. The waiter was also the bartender. And the lady who worked in the kitchen came out to help bring food to the tables. So seeing that, I already knew the service was going to be slow but I was in no rush. All the food here was more pricey than the Thai food in downtown or China town area. But I didn’t mind bc I thought it was going to be wow! I was disappointed. I ordered the soft shell crab. And it was still crunchy but nothing special from other soft shell crabs I’ve had before and it wasn’t the freshest. It tasted fishy to be honest def not FRESH. Also had the shrimp wonton appetizer. That was pretty good. Drinks were excellent. I had a hot Thai jasmine tea. They actually brought it to me already in a tea pot brewing with the tea leaves. My entrees were disappointing. I had the pad si ew. It wasn’t even warm when it got to my table as a lot of the other foods. Flavors were good. Noodles were harder than it should be. We also had the whole fried fish which happened to be a snapper. There was very little meat on it. And again , it must have waited about 15 minutes in the kitchen after being cooked bc it was not piping hot. Shrimp fried rice was good. And the mango sticky rice was delish with the ice cream. The mango was very ripe and sweet. Dessert was perfect. So all in all that’s as a $140 meal with a $6 parking and tip ur looking at about $170. For that price. I can def get a better value elsewhere and also better tasting, warm or hot food. This place was very disappointing to me. I won’t be trying it again. There are plenty of good eateries in city centre to pick from than Yi Peng.
Made a reservation at 6.30 pm on Sunday, when served our drinks around 6.45 pm we we were told that the kitchen would close at 7 pm …???
Why open in the first place ???
Very good food . I’ll definitely go back with my friends
Tables were very close together. Absolutely no privacy. Food was great but needed to remind our waiter about every detail. Will go back for the food.
It as a very good experience dining at the restaurant
We loved, loved, loved this place. The food was absolutely to die for and the ambiance was great. They had a limit drink menu that might, which was alittle disappointing. The service was okay but honestly the food made up for that. No toilet paper in either bathroom that night either lol
But try the food. It’s worth it.
Our favorite place! Great food and great experience
Great Thai food! Awesome flavor and service . We will certainly return for the dining experience and the Chefs Table!
Delicious, so excited to have a new Thai restaurant that is authentic and really good.
excellent food, awesome service, specially Millionaire and Cindy
Tasty Thai food served by an attentive staff. Absolutely delicious!
Excellent Thai cuisine in a contemporary setting, with outstanding service and moderate prices. Flavorful food with beautiful presentations..
The food was fabulous. I would definitely go again. Disappointed that the only cocktails were the ones featured.
Excellent Northern Thai dishes with fresh ingredients. Liked the spice level. Well priced. Cute decor, excellent service.
One of my favorite Thai restaurants here in houston —-//
One of the best Thai restaurants in Houston! The ambiance is great, server was friendly and the food was amazing!
Great place, nice ambience and great service. Food was above average but not great..
First time visitor. Became aware of this restaurant due to their participation in Houston Restaurant Week (HRW). Chose to order from the menu and not the HRW menu. Food was superb. Service and recommendations were excellent. Prices were good. Loved the music! Will definitely return.
Great service, delicious food. We will be back for dinner
The ambience was nice but I did not enjoy my food. It didn’t taste that great to me
Then entire experience was wonderful. Food delicious, service friendly and helpful. We will definitely return to try other dishes.
Host was awesome. Food was delicious and fresh. Small portions but just enough to satisfy. We will be back!!!!!
Ordered from the Houston Restaurant Weeks menu and all was great.
