Welcome to Yimchai, an unique cafe serving oriental food.
"Yimchai" name is inspired by a Chinese style brunch tea, which involves drinking Chinese tea and eating hot bun. It is a common choice for families, friends, colleagues and groups of people to get together and catch up.
At Yimchai we combine the coffee culture with Oriental eating, and create this unique cafe restaurant which you can have a freshly cooked oriental meal with your regular choice of coffee or a pot of our specialty Chinese tea.

It was a pity that there was no duck available and then neither was one of chef’s recommendations, but the waitresses were helpful, charming and efficient.
We really enjoyed the food - and the quantity as well as the quality.

Goes from strength to strength. Food was extraordinary, service was warm and the atmosphere buzzy but not intrusive. The only thing which needs navigating is that the portion sizes are designed for larger groups so if you are dining as a couple it's easy to over-order, especially on veg. Chef's specials are awesome.

Perhaps our expectations had been raised too high by Reviews online but we were unimpressed by the food and the service alternated from waiting ages for starter to then being rushed through the other courses. We felt it was a very ordinary Chinese meal which didn’t justify the cost ...... e.g. a sizzling beef dish was £15.80. Although beef was lovely it was sadly drowned in a very sweet pineapple sauce. Really?

The service was terrible. I have been to the restaurant a few times and I have to say, this place is not child-friendly at all. They always give you a grumpy face when they come and clear your table (let alone asking a few times after 20 mins into our meal whether we have finished), no welcome and thank you at all.

Delicious, authentic Chinese food. Certainly not your average Chinese restaurant but on a par with restaurants in Chinatown. Lots of unusual dishes on the menu, with drinks to match. Having grown up in Hong Kong it made me very nostalgic

Food was really divine, though the portions are very large! Really fresh, with a great choice of traditional regional and more Anglicized dishes. Staff were very friendly except for one who was a little nervous - perhaps quite shy or maybe new. Good venue for a quiet meal as the music is not intrusive and the tables not too close together.

Really excellent Cantonese food in Kingston. Doesn't look like much from the outside, but the food in here is fresh, delicious, and most importantly, authentic. The vegetable dumplings were melt in the mouth standard, the roasted duck was some of the best i've ever had and the staff were delightful. Much better than anything i've had in Chinatown.

Yimchai has an interesting menu with something for everyone. We wanted a cheap dinner and chose this based on price, so had limited expectations. We have found some other Chinese to be overly sweet, gloopy or greasy, but none of that here; all the different dishes we had were really excellent - looked great, generous portions and very tasty. Service was quick and friendly. Decor a little odd, but restaurant clean and comfortable and close to station. Exceedingly good value overall, we'll definitely be back.

Food was delicious and service friendly. Highly recommend the steamed Seabass. Ambience and decor didn't match the quality of the food.

Great local restaurant where the food is always freshly made and good portions plus they do left overs to go. Not the cheapest but well worth the trip.

What a great find - really enjoyed our meal which was very tasty and great quality. Place was absolutely packed which is always a good sign and this was why service was probably a bit slow. Will be back here soon!
