Yono’s is arguably the finest restaurant in the Capitol district. Every part of dinner was exceptional, from the cocktails, to the dinner, to the wine, to the dessert and especially to the level of service. Just outstanding.
Great food and service
This restaurant is so exceptional. The execution of the food and service was top notch. What an experience. Chef Yono is so nice and attentive. Truly a great restaurant.
My family and I went to celebrate my eldest daughter earning tenure. The staff was incredible as was the food. Each staff member congratulated her and she was given a special dessert to mark the occasion.
Dining experience at Yono’s was not like before. There was one main waiter and an assistant to serve 8 occupied tables so service was super slow. Food is not the same as before. The braised beef short rib my wife ordered was very dry and salty. She didn’t finish it. I got pan seared north Atlantic scallops with polenta (3 pcs scallops). I finished it even though it was very salty because I was starving. I ordered Pinot noir which never came. Dinner bread was very scant & very meticulously rationed. You can ask for a little more but you have to wait. It eventually came when we were almost done with our food. What happened to the prior 5 star rating? Not to mention the price, the only consolation was that they printed our names on top of the menu for our anniversary. That was a nice surprise!
The food was very good, as we had the 8-course tasting menu. There were a couple of surprises, however. The pork belly was pork loin, instead, and we were told we were getting their signature dish, short ribs, and received lamb chops instead. This wasn’t a huge deal, but it did surprise us.
The parking situation was unusual as we pulled into the parking lot for the hotel and were told we could not park there, even though the lot was not full. We ended up parking in a paid lot and had to go out around mid-meal to pay for more hours. This was the case because the whole meal took more than 4 hours, even though the restaurant was less than half full. This is much longer than it had to take.
We are still giving the experience 4 stars, and may return to really try the short ribs, however, we would probably shy away from the 8-course marathon.
The entire staff was very attentive. The food was excellent.
Amazing wine selection and service
From the moment we sat down, we felt so welcome. The little touches of complementary Prosecco and our names on the menu went a very long way. Our server was absolutely amazing. Personable yet professional. I observed how she talked on and on about wines with a table near us and you could tell she really had a passion, it was refreshing to see. The food was nothing less than outstanding. It’s been two days and I am still thinking about how good the duck was. This was the perfect place for an anniversary dinner and I’m already counting the days until my 5th anniversary and we’re able to celebrate at yonos once again. Thank you for an unforgettable 4th anniversary.
Great for a special occasion. The servers were extremely attentive.
I am a lifelong chef with 4 decades of experience, a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America and a veteran from the Boston culinary scene. My wife and I just moved to the Albany area and treated ourselves to the 8 course tasting menu at Yono. The best dish was mediocre, the Beef Rendang, a supposed specialty of the house, was so salty it was virtually inedible. I prepared a 7 course tasting menu with a chef friend several weeks ago before our move and the least inspired, least outstanding dish we made outshone anything I tasted at Yono. Not to confuse food with service, as often happens, our server(s) were friendly, knowledgeable and competent, and I tipped accordingly. However my guest check wasn't for service, and that's a lot of money to spend for mediocrity. My guess is that chef/owner Purnomo no longer runs the kitchen full time and it would appear the restaurant is surviving on reputation. A thorough dissapointment.
Very nice experience for my wife's birthday. Staff were very attentive, food presentation very good. Overall, an wonderful dining experience.
As always at Yono's our food was creative, well presented and flawlessly prepared. This particular evening we chose house-selected wine pairing for each course and the pairings were outstanding, a few I would call extraordinary. Yono's is a gem in the Capital Region not to be missed.
We’ve had the pleasure of dining here twice. We were just passing through town and feel lucky we found this gem in downtown Albany! The food, service and atmosphere couldn’t be better! So happy we chose the tasting menu with paired wine. The sommelier and fellow servers were so knowledgeable and warm, they created a very magical evening!
Food was phenomenal. Our servers were outstanding-so knowledgeable and friendly. Only wish some of our fellow diners had shown up more groomed for the occasion. Will definitely return for our next celebration.
Incredible meal and outstanding service. 10/10
Fabulous food, fabulous service. Couldn't be better. Great place for a celebratory evening, or any evening for that matter!
Fantastic, overall experiance exceptonal. Somalie Brittney very knowlegable with explainations of wines and why they paired with the food served. Everything was to perfection.
While we were surprised to have to take a 5:15 reservation, it turned out to be a blessing in disguise. We had the place to ourselves for nearly 40 minutes before the next reservation came in. It was like fine private dining! The food is as fabulous as we remembered, and the super unique bottle we found on the wine list was the cherry on the sundae. Was worth every penny, and the staff was so attentive and delightful. Been a long time since we had an experience like this one.
The team at Yono’s always provides such an amazing dining adventure. The food, the wine, every element is carefully thought out to deliver an incredible experience. Always delicious- thank you!
Wonderful experience, great service and food. Truly a dining experience.
My wife and I celebrated our 45th Anniversary yesterday evening at Yono’s. We’ve frequented Yono’s different restaurants in the Capital District since 1986 and the food has always been outstanding, as it was last night. The presentation was simple but elegant, the atmosphere was quiet and comfortable, and the service was superb! Men are requested to wear a jacket to dinner, something that is somewhat unusual these days, but this greatly added to the ambiance. Yono visited us at our table toward the end of the meal and that just made the whole experience even more memorable.
It was great to return to Yono’s. The only negative was it was a 2 hour 2 course meal. But I think they are just trying to get back on track after COVID. The food was amazing as usual. Looking forward to going back!
Everything was excellent! They printed a special menu for us that said "Happy 25th wedding anniversary" and provided complimentary Sparkling wine when we arrived for Anniversary toast. All the food was AMAZING!!!
Yono’s may be the remaining fine dining establishment in the Capital District. Service is punctual but never intrusive. The wine list is the best in the Capital District. The dual approach emanating from the kitchen--modern American or Indonesian-- should appeal to all palates. And, no matter what is ordered, it is always prepared spot-on.
A do not miss while in Albany.
The touches of recognition for our celebration were greatly appreciated. We loved the servers and knowledge the team had on the food and wines. There were a lot of unique options and we ended up trying their Indonesian tasting menu. We enjoyed getting to the 5 courses and get a good sense of the flavors combinations.
The food was mediocre, banal, and expensive. There was a private party separated only by a curtain and it was very noisy. Expensive restaurant, no value!
The tasting menu with wine pairing was exceptional, this has been my favorite restaurant in the Albany area for years and they never disappoint. I think this is definitely the best restaurant inn the area.
Great dinner celebrating a college graduation! Food and service were outstanding!
Everything was superb, as usual!
Service, food and ambiance are always impeccable, which brings us back for special occasions.
Fantastic fine dining experience. Get the short ribs!!!
The food was wonderful and the staff was very attentive. I’m still dreaming about my dinner and can’t wait until our next visit. We took our friends for their anniversary and they loved it.
Food and service was 5+ star! Yono’s is not just a restaurant, it is a full dining experience. Very highly recommend.
This is an incredible place for a special occasion—we were lucky enough to come to celebrate a new job and a new apartment. They customized a menu congratulating us and started the meal with a complimentary glass of prosecco. We opted for the 8 course tasting menu with wine pairings (one standard, one premium, so we could compare them). The meal is well-paced, thoughtful, unexpected, and exceptional. While everything was awesome, there were a few exquisite pairings—the orange/vanilla creme brûlée and the Auslese Riesling was one. The service is exemplary—I asked where the restroom was, and the staff member personally showed me to the foyer so I would know exactly where I was going. Both the owner and executive chef came over during the evening to say hello. Overall, I can’t imagine a more welcoming and lovely fine dining experience in Albany.
Start to finish everything was amazing. Astounding service and some of the best food I’ve had in years. Our only drawback (and it was very minor) was that I ordered the 8 course tasting menu and my husband ordered the 5 course tasting menu so there were times I was served food and he had nothing.
Order the venison - best entree I’ve had.
Excellent food and service is top notch. Only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 stars for service is because one of the waiters spilled my glass all over the table.
