Nestled between Regent’s park and Camden Town in North West London, Gordon Ramsay’s York & Albany restaurant is a former 1820s coaching inn that's been transformed into a well-appointed townhouse restaurant, bar, hotel and terrace.

The Georgian townhouse, built by historic British architect John Nash, has been re-decorated by Russell Sage. From awesome arches and gilded mirrors through to vaulted ceilings and restored furniture, there are many areas within the venue to suit your needs with two private dining rooms and a hidden courtyard, in addition to the restaurant and large open bar.

Menus focus on modern British food and guests can dine all day, from breakfast through to dinner.

Private Dining

York & Albany is a stylish townhouse, restaurant and bar serving a modern British dining menu. There are also nine gorgeously appointed bedrooms and several private areas perfect for parties, meetings and special occasions. The venue is fully licensed to hold wedding ceremonies.

We were seated in the bar in seats totally unsuitable for dinner in the bar area. I would guess it was so slow they didnt want to put people in the main dining room. The food was very minimalistic for the money

So chic !
Bref note finale de 110 £ qui me reste encore sur l’estomac donc conseil, passez votre chemin. Il y a tellement de bons restaurants à Londres ...

The seasonal menu offer is good value. I like the option to have a half litre carafe in a range of wines as well as by the glass. I may be a bit out of touch with cocktail prices but was surprised to pay £10.50 for an admittedly excellent amaretto sour. This was on the blackboard as a special but without a quoted price. My fault as I should have asked but it was still enjoyable.

Overall this was a very underwhelming experience. Came here about 8 years ago and had a wonderful meal, but this was very different. Meal for four people, 3 courses and sides (minus one starter) came to just under £200 - including service charge but food only. This should have felt like a fantastic meal. Unfortunately it was very ordinary.

Salt and Sichuan pepper squid at £11 was bland with no hint of Sichuan pepper. Pork Belly wasn’t particularly interesting and the skin wasn’t very crispy. Triple cook chips are normally lovely and crispy on the outside. These were just ordinary chips. At £29 the Sirloin was fairly bland. Sticky Toffee pudding was standard. And finally the Cheese board... very disappointing. I don’t mind snacking on a Jacobs cream cracker at home, but at a Gordon Ramsay Restaurant... Really? And the three cheeses were very bland and wouldn’t be out of place in the supermarket budget section.

Overall this wasn’t a terrible meal, and I realise this isn’t a high end Gordon Ramsay offering. But for the cost and his reputation, this was nowhere near up to scratch.

While this is a great building and convenient location the food did not match up to the price tag. A "rack of lamb" does not equal two small cutlets. Service was good though. Overall it felt expensive for what you got.

Came on Valentines day. Meal was ok but quite expensive for quality - at that price it feels more lile it is Gordon’s day than lovers day...
Total meal cost was just above £200 for 2 people and I think a fair price for it would have been in the £100 mark.
It wasn’t bad, just not the quality i would have expected at that price. Better experience at heddon street kitchen for example.

Had Valentines menu st £60 pp Expensive for a 3 course meal of this quality. Steak was precooked and covered with rocket salad in order to hide this. Tables are close and noise level quite high in rear dining area.? Music had no valentines ambiance. It used to be a gurmet resturant. I am very disappointed how they lowered the quality.

One of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in a long time: we had booked the offer but had to ask for the offer menu to be brought to us as well as the a la carte. The side of bread we ordered arrived frozen - how hard can it be to source fresh bread on a Saturday night? When we pointed this out to the staff, they felt the bread to confirm, took it away, then brought the same bread back having microwaved it to a heat which meant we couldn’t eat it. Both starter and main course were clearly microwaved with the dish hot but the contents of very uneven temperatures. My main course was inedible, described as ‘root vegetable crumble’ but the contents had been chopped up to such a degree it wasn’t possible to identify what was in the dish, it also came without the potatoes on the menu, presumably they couldn’t be microwaved at the same time. As compensation all we were offered was that the £7 we had been charged for 2 coffees would be taken off the bill.

It’s a nice ‘Gordon type’ place for a family lunch. Good menu and quality food. The service was a bit too slo for us (1,5 hours wait for the main). Short selection of teas, but really good coffee and deserts!

Food quality has changed since I went in 2016. Which is the biggest downer, seems like the recipe comes from the chef not Gordon. Friendly staff but one of the food servers (not our waiter) had no clue which plate contained a medium or medium rare.

Lovely restaurant with friendly staff. Good food and wine. Kids under 12 eat for free which was great as we were dining with our 15 month old (who eats like an adult!). Unfortunately, we were pressed for time as had a train to catch but service was speedy (not overly busy early on a Thursday evening) - but would definitely return!

Decor is confused - the front felt like a proper pub but the back room (where we sat) felt like an airport terminal. Service was poor - we had to wait for 20 min to order drinks and there was about a 30 min wait between courses. Food was good but not anything special or unique and dessert was disappointing. We went for the Christmas Day set menu. For £130 a head as a Christmas meal, it was a let down, but it was the only place we could find reservations for as we had to book a Christmas meal last minute.

Bad and slow welcome, asking for water and a wine list. It wasn’t busy when we arrived.

Wine and food very over priced. Taste was ‘standard’ nothing special. Trying too hard.

Not what you expect with something associated with Mr Ramsey. I wouldn’t bother going again unless it was a nice drink in the front.

I ate here with some friends as an early Christmas catch up. We originally booked the Christmas menu online but when we arrived we were told that they didn’t have a festive menu available. After some discussion with the kitchen they managed to give us a Christmas main course but we were not able to access the second course from the Christmas menu (the offer we booked was for a 2 course menu for £25). The food tasted ok when it arrived but the service took ages (nearly an hour for the first course)– we were all starving when the food finally arrived and therefore didn’t enjoy it as much as we could have. In saying this the staff were all friendly and professional and the surroundings are beautiful (the restaurant is a bit away from the hustle and bustle of Camden which felt lovely).

Breakfast is delicious at Y&A, but service is patchy. You'd think toast might be made with more than what looks like Hovis thick cut and we had to ask twice for it and then again for jam (they weren't busy). OJ is freshly squeezed.
The coffee is a right faff - admittedly good coffees are made individually (therefore one is usually lukewarm by the time they are done) and you can't have a cafetiere, for a party of four this works out really expensive for 2 little cups each!
The environs are nice - light and airy - and everyone tries to be helpful. And there's a sign that says kids eat free.

We enjoyed the meal and prosecco but there was confusion with offer. We understood we were getting two hour prosecco brunch booked for two p.m after spending a lot of money at the bar which is self service (but you pay a service charge on all drinks) when we got to our table we were told the offer finished at two! This was sorted after a while. We eventually got our meal at three o clock which was nice but tiny portions. The bill arrived at double the amount we expected as the offer on OpenTable is badly worded. After embarrassing conversations for both us and the staff we came to an agreement but it did Marr the experience. Please echo the way it is worded on the restaurant menu so other people know that the prosecco is an additional cost of £25 per person if you order AND PAY for one course. We would come again but would ensure that what we book is what we get.

The service was shambolic. While trying to get drinks at the bar before our dinner booking, we struggled to eventually get a passing waiter to take a drink orders from us. When we transferred to our table, it was very difficult to get the interest of our waitress throughout the meal.
Our food was good. Again, we had to wait a long time to order more drinks.
After paying the bill, the waitress told us that we couldn’t leave because we had not paid for our drinks at the bar, as though we were trying to flee the restaurant without paying! Very embarrassing but at least we finally had some attention. And we were expected to pay a service charge on the second bill. For what service?
I had a fantastic experience when I came to the York & Albany when it first opened and I cannot recognise any of the careful attention from that first meal in this restaurant today. I am furious and we have walked out of that place for the last time?

I live up the road so I guess you can call this place my local although I don't go that often. This time around the food, service and ambiance was good. It can be hit and miss since there is a large staff turnover and what should be a bustling busy place at the corner where Regents Park meets Camden is often quite quiet. It's a Gordon Ramsey pub, restaurant and boutique hotel. It's got all the right ingredients, comfort, charm and a good if not cheap menu. It just always seems to be less than the sum of it's parts which is a pity since it's a really nice place. Come on York & Albany, perk up!
