Perfectly positioned between hip Camden and Regent’s Park, the York & Albany restaurant is a former 1820s coaching inn that's been transformed into a well-appointed townhouse restaurant, bar, hotel and terrace by the Gordon Ramsay Group.

The townhouse has interiors courtesy of Russell Sage, and historic British architect John Nash to thank for its magnificent Victorian building. From awesome arches and gilded mirrors through to vaulted ceilings and restored furniture, there are many areas within the venue to suit your needs with two private dining rooms and a hidden courtyard, in addition to the restaurant and bar, there is an outdoor terrace and separate pizza deli located in the old stables.

Main courses took nearly an hour and half to arrive. Also very little in terms of vegetarian food on menu. We went for a roast and no real veggie option. Overall was a spoilt day for what was meant to be a nice father's day lunch out

Very pleasant, good value lunch from the set menu. Relaxed informal atmosphere and attractive decor. The place was not busy on this weekday lunchtime but that suited us. Service was very attentive and friendly. Food was tasty, well presented, plenty of choice, even from the set menu. Looking forward to another visit!

Not value for money and food was tasteless. Place was run down. Is this really a Gordan Ramsey place?

Our visit couldn’t have been so different to our last visit 6 months or so ago. Really disappointed, especially for a special celebration. Choice of food (extremely restricted) was not explained. We were seated at a low table in the bar for a 3 plus course meal, restaurant empty all but one table at 9pm. Food ok but not anything like the quality and level we received last time. Felt like a hurried breakfast on tables set for a low key breakfast. We couldn’t have been more deflated and disappointed. Pleasant waiter. We had traveled from Nottingham to London to celebrate at what had been our favourite restaurant.

always a great place to go but the food was disappointing. We had to send our poached eggs which were not runny, quantities were light and the bread and pastries were simply not good. Staff was friendly but not that attentive. Overall we were disappointed with the experience, you always expect so much more from such an establishment. It has got everything to be a hit but lack of attention lets it down

We have eaten at York and Albany several times in the last few years with mixed results. Our last visit was one of the best so we were looking forward to having dinner with friends. The restaurant is nicely done out and the atmosphere was relaxing albeit not full on a Saturday night. Service and food was average - the prices are not - and at nearly £300 for 4 it did not represent good value for us.

Good staff balanced out average to poor food

Not worth the trip

Cocktails were poor value and most food didn’t taste cooked to order

I love the atmosphere in the York and Albany, and it is very close to where I live, so I should go there more often. I was reminded why last week after a birthday lunch with 2 friends: I don't go because it really is expensive. Lunch for 3: 2 small glasses of wine, one person had 2 starters and the other 2 had the set lunch: £80 with the tip. That really is pretty outrageous for a lunch. No bread (costs extra). No coffee. Paying that much makes the good service and nice atmosphere seem not really worth it. I won't be going back.

If Gordon Ramsay visited this restaurant and had the festive menu he would be screaming like he does on his TV show. Dry tasteless British food at it's worst, and poorly presented. The dessert was nice however and service was ok.

Very cosy and quiet. It takes very long to get served although the restaurant did not seem full at all. But the food was very good and the service as well.
It was in a perfect location and really nice , quiet and comfortable seats.

Too expensive for ordinary food and small portions. We tried sunday roast and it was very basic. For 22£ you get 2 thin slices of standard baked beef, several potatoes and carrots...

That is not nearly exciting :/

We've been to York and Albany before for Sunday lunch, however, we (three of us) all felt that the evening menu was far more interesting. The starters were all excellent - the Jerusalem artichoke soup was luscious as was the Trevise, pear and blue cheese.

Never will you get board of this place with its great staff, fantastic beers and food that is always on point. Dukes is a gem in the heart of Dalston which is definitely worth seeking out if you want to let go of your meat inhibitions and compliment it with great ales and cocktails..

Oh and did I say the team there are great too!!!

Loved the elegant feeling of the place. The food was great, but at the same time the materials were kept simple and high quality. The attention from the staff was what you would except from a restaurant at this level with only some minor mistakes. We've got a complimentary anniversary plate with some ice cream and cookies, which was a lovely addition to our fantastic dinner. The prices are also completely acceptable considering the quality of the service and food. This place also has a bar area for pre-dinner chatting and a wine bar for post-meal discussions. Overall we've had a fantastic experience at one of Ramsay's more classic restaurants.

I had a tomato salad but the tomatoes were not sweet and were underipe. I liked the fish pie but I wouldn't say it was Gordon Ramsay standard. I have been to the tapas section before for a private party which was nice but didn't feel the food in restaurant was impressive. Service was brilliant and atmosphere was lovely. It's a shame.

We had the course meal with a pint for £24,when we arrived they didn't know about the offer, they told me they had to check with the manager. We ordered 3 starters,3mains and 3 sides and the sides came out when we were finishing our mains. When they brought out the sides they brought out an incorrect one and we told them that as we had finished our mains we didn't want it anymore.5 minutes later they brought us the correct side. They charged for the 3 sides although they were served when we had finished our mains. They didn't charge for a pint but we weren't expecting to be charge for the side either as we were completely full when they brought them out.Not impressed, terrible timings, front desk manager doesn't know about the deals they have on...never returning again.

Slow service (when you are with children, that is very irritating), waiter did not use pen and paper to write down the order (why not just write down the order?! mnemonics don’t exist in ordinary life) and eventually forgot(!) some positions (like olives or juice)...

Price of 50£ for a t-bone steak to be shared for 2 is ridiculously high. So you get 4 thin slices of meat and no sides.

Otherwise this is a nice place with good food.
