Zama Punjabi Restaurant
Great food. Great service. Been a few times and would definitely go again
Love the food and the service was great. Was just quite loud on Friday when we attended
Not much to recommend really, popadoms are not very nice, starter not very good and a lamb biriyani which didn't come with a vegetable curry on the side.
In all the other times I've eaten this in other curry restaurants always has a vegetable curry otherwise it's just to dry. To top it all off they do small canned beers at £5.
Went to Zama on Saturday with my sons and friends. We had the most wonderful lunch two courses with sides and nibbles to start with for £9.95.Unbelievable value for such delicious food this is the best Indian restaurant in Brighton and Hove!! The staff are wonderful very professional but very friendly. Will be going back again this is my second time and I recommend anyone that is looking for good genuine Indian cuisine to visit Zama.I promise you ,you will not be disappointed. 10 out of 10!
Our 2nd time here. The smells are intoxicating as you approach the restaurant, and the sauces and dishes you are served live up to the aromas. The tandoori haloumi is great - the tandoori chicken was great on first visit, somewhat drier on the second. Rogan josh was fine as were the aubergine bajis, the taka dhal and the raita. The "Bread basket" gives you three different naans for £4 so its worth ordering. The staff are an absolut delight and the customers all seem to be enjoying themselves immensely. Nicely situated in the centre of Hoves "restaurant mile" and keenly priced to boot. We will be going back,.
The refurb of the restaurant is to a high standard and the restaurant looks fantastic. A varied menu, we had two starters, two mains and two sides but we found that every dish to be too hot for our taste unfortunately. Would recommend the coconut ice cream at the end for a welcome relief.
Great food, great service. Really nice to have an Indian but not the normal run of the mill Indian.
Shame they ran out of there signature beer.
The food was very good, but there were too few waitstaff. They were clearly flustered and struggled to manage all the tables. One dish and all our rice had been forgotten and needed to be re requested. This was a Saturday night at just after 8pm, they should have been aware that they would have a full restaurant and therefore plenty of staff were required.
One starter a bit cold; long wait for main course. Otherwise, the food was excellent.
Very nice food, we ordered starter and mains but come all together! Bit odd but worked and was more like eating a Tali.
Would highly recommend and will definitely try an evening next time.
Nice food, pleasant, airy modern restaurant, pleasant staff although service a little slow
Very tasty food and pleasant, efficient service. It's a shame the Thalis were not available on the lunch menu as that's our only negative comment.
Will be coming back one evening to sample them for sure.
Absolutely delicious food and a great variety of options. We tried lots of things from tandoori chicken, to curries, and the 'fish fingers'. All fantastic! The restaurant is beautifully decorated, feels spacious and airy (not crammed in!). Lastly the service was fab, super friendly and offered recommendations. Will definitely be visiting regularly!
Third time I’ve been here and the food is exceptional. Good service. Quite pricey but worth it. Highly recommend
Went there for lunch. I am vegan, my friend meat eater. There was no vegan main course on the lunchtime menu but they made me something from the main menu. Starter and main course very good, nice ambiance. This is not typical Indian fayre. It is one of the few restaurants that take it up a notch and the longer established Indians should take note. Given time they could easily lose a lot of trade.
My friend owns an Indian restaurant in Brighton and wanted to check this place out. He is very particular but had no adverse comments and said it was excellent.
Great food, great service! One of the few Indian restaurants in Brighton and Hove which serves authentic food.
Not exactly "modern" indian cuisine, more an update of traditional indian styles. The real change is in the spices and sauces which were all to die for. The tadoori chicken and the tandoori haloumi were both outstanding as were the bindi bhaji & the taka dhal. Nice twist with the bread basket too - giving the table a choice of 3 different flatbreads. The house white is very serviceable at £20 pb and the service was top notch, personal and friendly. Thanks Zama people, we'll be back!
Really loved our meal here ! Authentic Indian food , not greasy , really flavourful of herbs & spices ! Delicious !
Sufficiently different restaurant to make it stand out from the rest. Drinks slightly expensive but otherwise very good value for the area.
Fabulous, authentic food that was also a little different. Could be a little on the spicy side for some but well thought out and well presented and very tasty. Very attentive, efficient service. Happy to have such a great new restaurant in Hove. Will be heading back there very soon. Keep up the great work!
We chose this restaurant following positive reviews from friends and were not disappointed. The food was tasty and delivered in timely fashion, and the portion sizes were generous. Four of us ate, probably ordering too much, and struggled to finish everything. The breadcrumbed chicken starter was a little too well cooked for my preference but overall a very enjoyable experience.
First visit and we thought food was very nice and since our party included a Vegetarian and a Vegan there was a wide selection.
As newbies we massively over ordered but that was our fault.
Staff were all friendly but some of our Vegan questions had them stumped.
Will certainly return and be more circumspect when ordering
A great addition to Hove, full of flavour - the Samosa is a must
We will be back
Starters were nice but the main was disappointing. Service was very slow and not very organised. Bright halogen lights mixed with ambient lighting, not great. Although at about 10pm the bright lights were turned down slightly. Never normal for us not to leave a tip but didn't feel it was worthy. Had high hopes for Zama as the marketing was fun, unusual and slick but unfortunately food was very average and staff seemed like they really didn't want to be there! Shame.
the only negative is that , with all curry houses, the chicken is cooked earlier in the day. But in the main dishes it was tough and dry. Sauces tasted great ... but the chicken should be avoided. Starters great, Dahl great, breads nice and fresh. They had run out of big bottles of cobra so two small were being priced as one large... but they forgot that when it came to the bill
Very good all round however my big bug bear is that the waitresses both leaned across the table to serve rather than walk round as they should do. If Zama management read this maybe you can pass on to your team who otherwise did fantastically and the food was some of the best Indian food I've eaten outside of India.
Had a lovely evening. The food was excellent as was the service.
Excellent quality food with a wide choice on the menu. Prompt and friendly service served in a comfortable clean environment that overall made for a very enjoyable dining experience. Will definitely revisit and recommend to others.
We thoroughly enjoyed our experience, the house white wine was particularly impressive for a house!! We'll definitely be back for more delicious food
Superb food, excellent service and a very nicely designed space. The Green thali was delicious.
Waiting too long for the food. But when it arrived it was delightful
Service was extremely slow, we were sat down but not given and menus. Drinks and starters quite slow to arrive, main course we waited ages. We were not the only diners to experience this, others had wrong glasses too (i.e. Not suitable for the wine).
Great food great service will return soon would recommend to friends and family
Lovely experience great food
Our second visit and will come again
Fabulous!! Delicious food, great service and a lovely atmosphere
We had a lovely evening at Zama! Food was gorgeous & the staff were super lovely. We’ll be back.
Service was fantastic as was the food! This is the first truly authentic Punjabi restaurant in Brighton which has met many curry lovers expectations! We were served by a lovely lady, I believe her name was Emily.
My second time in Zama and I would definitely go back for a third time. The food is really authentic and delicious. I am in love with the paneer and samosa. They also have a really nice, well priced Mocktail list - perfect for mid-week!
My only fault is that the noise level is quite high, potentially fixable with some wall hangings or drapes.
This is a superb new addition on Church Road.
Food is exceptional.
Expensive for what is served up, poppadoms from a crisp packet - possibly M&S looks like no cooking happens on premises except use of microwave and poor service.
