We look forward to seeing you soon!
Under the direction of celebrated chef José Andrés and his ThinkFoodGroup team, Zaytinya offers an innovative mezze menu inspired by Turkish, Greek and Lebanese cuisines served up in a sleek and modern setting. Building on Jose’s deep knowledge of Mediterranean cooking and years of research and travel, the menu features shared small plates of authentic and innovative fare, creative cocktails, and unique Mediterranean wines, making Zaytinya one of the most exciting restaurants in Washington DC.
Absolutely delicious food! Ordered several plates and every single one was divine. Wonderful ambiance with outdoor seating. Great service and great value!
Great food and service as always.....we love coming here.
The food was outstanding and a great value. But service was about the worst we have had. Waiter even carried coffee cup by the rim of the cup! Seemed like we were an inconvenience- even the table assistant was slamming dishes while cleaning up plates at end of meal.
Had a 7:15 reservation. When we arrived, hostess said they were slightly behind and it shouldn’t be that long. I should have know by the ~5-8 parties waiting outside the front door that it wouldn’t be the case. Checked back in after waiting 20 mins and again told it wouldn’t be that long. Each time, the hostess said they apologize for the wait, but it never seemed sincere. After waiting for 45 mins, we were finally seated. The food was below expectations, and not as good as I remembered it being. Felt under-seasoned. Ambiance was okay. Thankfully we were sat in a section outside away from the entrance - though on not so comfortable folding chairs. I was dreading if it were me and felt sorry for those sat at tables next to the all the parties waiting for a table. Our waiter and the table staff were stars though. I probably would have given a lower rating if it were not for them. Overall, the experience did not live up to the expectations of Zaytinya being a memorable, delicious, and “up-scale” dining establishment. Unfortunately, the 45 min wait for a table was more memorable than the food. I will likely not go back, and will instead look for better food and restaurants in DC because I know there are that serve the same style of food, and they would be far better than this experience. Zaytinya is resting on its laurels and banking on the reputation of Jośe Andréas.
I love the food, which keeps me coming back. However, I always seem to have one problem or another when I dine in. This most recent time our wine came out after our food even though we ordered the cheapest cab on the menu, which is probably their most popular so ideally the restaurant would have those readily available. It took a while for them to bring the bread around and that is another hot commodity at the restaurant, so again, one would think to have an abundance prepped and ready to go. Overall, I love the food but they could tighten up their service considering the prestigious name of Zaytinya.
Excellent overall experience. We had the Chefs Tasting menu - the delicious dishes kept coming! Cocktails were also fantastic and very original. Highly recommend!
Great food and great service! Always love coming here and the staff are always great!
Very delicious small plates, constant fresh bread brought to us! It was nice weather and I’d asked to sit outside but sat inside but that’s ok!
Great food. Great service. The atmosphere did not fit with the ethnicity of the food.
Large patio was perfect on a beautiful spring evening. The service was amazing and the complimentary pitas kept coming.
Delicious food, enthusiastic wait staff, good sized portions for small plates.
Zaytinya is my favorite restaurant in DC, and I guess everywhere for that matter. I always leave feeling like I enjoyed a wide variety of delicious food, but never feel over-full or gross afterward. 10/10 restaurant
I liked the overall idea of the restaurant. It was authentic and the food has immense flavor.
The food was poor as was the service. It was Mother’s Day and we spent a pretty penny. I’ve been to Zatinya before and had a lovely experience. After this past Sunday, I will not visit the restaurant again.
Server was amazing and gave us awesome recommendations
friendly service and delicious plates! our waiter was so friendly and even shared the sangria recipe i had 8 years ago that they no longer use!
Not quality , flavor , presentation or variety as before .
Very disappointing . Gave 3 stars because server was good . That’s about all was enjoyable
The host was super rude but once we were seated the experience was amazing! The Mother’s Day brunch options were great. My mother loved it! The ambiance, the sangria, it was perfect.
Delicious food and were served by a very kind waiter
Great place and wonderful food!
Always a great food experience. Flavors and choices top-notch. Wait staff keeps us well stocked with the delicious pita!
The service was excellent and each dish was perfect!
Great mother's day breakfast! Courteous staff, amazing food.
Great place for celebration. Little slow on service
We both had the tasting menu which was a lot of food and courses but allowed us to have a portion of everything on the menu. The bread basket was refilled frequently with soft fluffy pittas which were freshly baked. The waiting staff were able to explain everything on the menu and checked on the table frequently, even though it was a really busy Saturday night.
The tables had plexi-glass between them and there was a reasonable distance between tables that were not specifically protected.
Fantastic place, delicious food - we will definitely be back!
This was our second trip to Zaytinya and it was as good as the first. We were celebrating graduation and our server was attentive and made our occasion feel very special. We ordered many dishes and each one was delightful and delicious. You cannot make a mistake in your selection other than not trying enough things. Even the cheesecake is very unexpected and wonderful. The chef even came out at the end to let us rave about our night!
We went for dinner to Zaytinya on May 8, 2021 for Mother's Day- it was only our second restaurant back eating out after our COVID vaccines. The food was wonderful as expected, but we also felt really safe and protected with the seating arrangements, the table spacing, and the staff that was always masked and good about distancing.
Amazing food and service. However, service was a tad slow since we waited for over 30 mins to order dessert.
Try the Brussels sprouts!! So delicious and great drinks and ambience too
The food was outstanding, nothing to mark off there. The issue was the service. Wait staff was trying, but seemed to be spread so thin and overwhelmed that we were ignored for the first 15 minutes, not even given a QR Code so we could look at the menu while we waited. The bathroom was also a mess and looked really run down.
Would love to go back if they figured out how to fully serve as many people as they are allowing to sit.
Well thought out small-ish plates easily shared, superb cocktails, beautiful room, plenty of waitstaff to keep and eye on things, followed good masking protocols, excellent value for the quality.
The food was EXCELLENT. We sat outdoors and even we got some rain, sun and wind while we were there, the environment was very pleasant. We had to ask for our waiter 4 times and wait for him for a couple minutes. Service was well below our expectations.
The Ro-Zay Brunch was wonderful! All the food was delicious and the rose' from Lebanon, Turkey and Greece was much better than we expected. The price for two was very reasonable for all the food and drink we had.
This restaurant is never disappointing! Great staff and excellent food.
The service, drinks and food were outstanding!
We have eaten at Zaytinya several times, and this time was a bit of a disappointment. The service was slow (it was a Friday night), and the food wasn’t quite as good as on previous occasions. For example, the lamb kebabs had excellent flavor but were quite dry and chewy. The chicken kebab wasn’t quite as well done as I like poultry to be. And the tzatziki was surprisingly bland. Maybe just an off night?
Very poor unattentive service! 45 minutes to order during a lunch hour that was not busy.
Jose Andres deserves gratitude and recognition for his heroic public service. This makes it all the more amazing that he manages to keep his restaurants operating at such a superb level despite the Coronavirus pandemic.
Had booked a table for 4, but needed to cut it back to 2 when the journalist in our group had to work late. Maitre D was kind enough to give us a table for 4 in case the others could join us (they did).
Zaytina has long been a favorite, and this visit did nothing to diminish our delight with the food, ambience and service. We ordered four Mezze and shared the Kabob platter. Server was smart enough to stagger the Mezze, Baba and pepper first, then the hot mushrooms, and saved the Cauliflower as a veg to go with the kabobs. All excellent.
The other two in our party managed to get there just in time to have a light supper while we shared a dessert. The chocolate torte is still wonderful. And our server adjusted to the change as if it was routine.
The patio now has some plastic side curtains and tenting above, which was a help on a cooler and windy evening. And even though we chose a Wednesday night based on schedules, it did not hurt to be able to take advantage of the 50% off bottles of wine.
I realize that writing rave reviews might encourage more people to fill the space every night. But dining at this one of Andre's restaurants is truly special. AND it contributes to his truly important humanitarian efforts. The latest is helping India with their massive COVID outbreak. Dining at any of the wonderful restaurants in his group is good. Contributing directly to World Central Kitchen is even better.
Very good and reasonable. 1:30 p.m. was a good time to dine.
