Great place. Fantastic food great ambiance
Lovely place and would recommend it
Overall a good experience. Nicely decorated. But With the same price I was expecting better food quality.
Great atmosphere and service in a fabulous neighbourhood. Tasty and filling food, discrete choice of Asian dishes (mainly Chinese/Malaysian). I found the meal slightly too rich and overpriced though.
Despite that I’d recommend it: overall is a good restaurant and the walk around the neighbourhood is worth the price.
We had Assam pedas dish which was on point 👌🏼
The house cocktails were also amazing
Amazing food and service. I definitely recommend it for special occasions.
The staff were polite, the service was quiet prompt my party was 8 people celebrating a special ocassion, we went during the week so this probably helped with the food being delivered prompt. Great location.
The roti canai & chicken curry were good. The rest was just average. Maybe we ordered the wrong dishes but everything tasted pretty much the same. Very quiet at lunchtime. Sadly wasn’t overly impressed.
Scrumptious food, great ambience, authentic Malaysian cuisine.
Loved the food and the service was top quality. Abit more selection of the dessert will make it the perfect dinner occasion.
Overall it was excellent.
We met up with family visiting from overseas at Zheng. It was really fresh and tasty asian cuisine. The service was faultless. There were many options on the menu, which made it easy for everyone in our party to find something that suited them. We especially enjoyed the cereal shrimp dish.
Last night my family and I celebrated my birthday at Zheng and it is not an exaggeration when I say it was an absolutely perfect dinner. I couldn't believe how I'd never come across this restaurant before. The quality of the food is superb and the taste incredible. To top it all off, even without my family prompting him to do so, the owner gave us a dessert with a candle on it, decorated to say happy birthday, played a birthday tune, got us a card and signed it personally and even took a gorgeous photo of us on a polaroid camera.
I truly believe that his passion to make his restaurant the best it can be came across in the food and the service we received. I absolutely implore anyone who is considering visiting this restaurant or on the hunt for a new destination for dinner to try this place. You will not regret it.
For those who drive, don't be put off that it is in Kensington, we found a parking spot 2 roads behind the restaurant that was free. It took us 4 minutes at most to walk to the restaurant.
If I could give any feedback to the restaurant it would be that you couldn't tell from the outside that the building was a restaurant. If they could advertise more on the outside, say put a stand displaying the menu, or invest in a tasteful billboard of sorts, I think they'd be unbelievably successful.
I congratulate the owners of this restaurant and hope you can maintain this level of quality for a long time in the future, and I thank you for letting me have such a wonderful and memorable birthday.
This was my first time at Zheng Chelase and it was a surprising discovery. Having lived in Asia for 5 years my point of reference and benchmark for Asian food (which is VERY diverse) is very high. Zheng certainly meets the standard and the cuisine is genuine and delivered with confidence. The only plate we were mildly disappointed with is the Pekin duck... in London they insist on making it very crispy which is not comparable to the juicy Pekin duck you’ll get in Hong Kong or the mainland (China). Having said that it was tasty... I would not hesitate to return and taste the remainder of the menu.
Having lived in Malaysia for four years and enjoyed some of the best local home cooked and restaurant cuisine, we felt that the cooking at Zheng is high quality and authentically Malaysian. Nasi Lemak was particularly good. Nice relaxed ambience and attentive service made for an excellent meal. Prices are eye-watering for Malaysia but quite modest for Kensington. Highly recommended.
I have dined at Zheng several times. Visited Zheng with friends who had not been before. As always - Friendly staff, lovely food and good service. The staff always help pick food if you havent tried it before as this was the case with my guests. Everyone enjoyed it!
This was our fourth visit to Zheng and we brought Australian friends, who had lived in Hong Kong about 30 years and travelled extensively in Malaysia The meal was a complete success and all the dishes highly appreciated. Thank you!.
When next in town we will be back.
Excellent ambience, delicious food and delightful, attentive staff. My friends from Singapore were impressed, particularly by our starter platter, and by the Nasi Goreng. I also thought it was great value for money. I shall definitely be back again soon.
Good quality food, a bit pricey but definitely a cut above your regular local Chinese restaurant.
Overpriced! Food was nothing special and pecking duck was not fresh.
The restaurant was recommended by friends who heard about it but haven’t been. We are so pleased to have gone and loved the food and atmosphere. Service was excellent! Will be back!
Good food, nice people, slow and spotty service
The staff went out of their way to make us very comfortable and as it was my wife’s birthday, they gave her a card and took nice instant photos of her. Food was great and authentic also.
Calm seating, ie not within elbow room of neighbouring diners, on the contrary plenty of buffer room. Our waiter was spot on with his recommendations for our palates- the spiciness tempered by sweetness. I recommend the beef with aubergine accompanied by Penfolds Autumn Riesling. A very relaxing dinner - thank you all.
This is a lovely restaurant, with delicious authentic Malaysian cuisine, attentive service, and good prices. Good for large groups or intimate meals. They are definitely worth a visit!
The waiter and waitresses were good , because we were late, but they did not rush us to finish our lunch, before closing time.
The choice for the lunch menu was limited.
Really great food, service &, for Chelsea, reasonable wine list. All very tasty with Peking duck and beef w/cumin being particularly good.
We visit Malaysia every few years and love the food. At Zheng we were not disappointed. The flavours were authentic and tasty, the presentation was surprisingly classy - never seen Malaysian cuisine look so pretty and tantalising, including the desserts. Service was excellent, friendly and efficient. We visited on a Monday and were the only diners by the time we started our mains, but for us that added to the experience rather than detracted. Pricey for Malaysian for, but not surprising for Chelsea, and as we said, this was upmarket Malaysian cuisine. For us it was a perfect treat...
I’m never disappointed when I eat at Zheng.
Great authentic Malaysian dishes, expertly prepared.
The room upstairs is cosy and classy. Service is attentive and nice.
Such a great place...
Excellent service from the staff and I enjoyed my visit. Will certainly go back to try more dishes.
Very average, hardly anyone there, will not be going back
Empty and food not distinguished. Duck pancakes could have been corner Chinese.
Malay and Chinese food in a Michelin presentation and ambiance.
Calm and relaxing environment, no rush. Just the perfect dinner if you are looking for authentic Malaysian cuisine in the middle of the city with perfect ambiance. Highly recommended.
Staff are very accomodating. Thank you, we had a great time!
Wonderful experience as always - this place is excellent and could not recommend it more.
We are regulars there so to see the food not consistent was disappointing. The prawn toast was mostly toast with a slight hint of prawn, as in the filling was flat.
Great food, helpful friendly service, good atmosphere, would highly recommend this restaurant.
Good food and service. Interior could be a little more intimate.
Due to availability we booked at 1845 as the next available was 2000. When we left at 2015 there were 4 tables in use!!!!Very average and no atmosphere and quite prices we will not visit again
Nasi lemak was great, and I enjoyed the ambience. Perfect.
We celebrated my grown-up daughter's birthday here on Friday (April 2018). The food was fabulous and not hugely overpriced which was a nice surprise for the area.
We were slightly surprised it was quite empty on a Friday night and there seemed to be a brooding melancholy among the staff . We loved the food and it was an excellent meal but the restaurant lacks vibrancy which might just have been on the night we went. This place has had three changes of ownership in the past five years I think (Italian, then French, and now this) , I hope this time it succeeds as on the food alone it should.
Delicious food and great service! Would definitely go again
