The food was tasty but had a lot of MSG
I had booked a late lunch on Saturday for 3 pm and when I entered the restaurant it was completely empty. I stayed till 5:30 and the restaurant remained completely empty till then, so not much of an ambience. As we were the only ones in the restaurant staff were really attentive and service was quick. I enjoyed the duck pancakes however the chicken sui mai lacked flavour and was quite watery on the inside. We had ordered the two main dishes which were marked as very spicy in the menu, however they were disappointingly not spicy as all.
I need to admit we arrived really late for dinner, around 10.30pm, but if you accept my reservation I pretend to have a dinner like anyone else before me, not just a few things warmed up and served.
The crispy beef was so hard to chew and the noodles were cold.
I left really disappointed
The food was very good but service was terrible, very surly, my partner was presented with a prawn version of a dish when veggie had been ordered, no apology and very slow replacement which meant she ate alone or my food went cold
Expensive bottled water was served Luke warm, had to chase for beer order twice
Would not return, food let down by the worst service I have seen in London for some time, no surprise that the restaurant was virtually empty!
Enjoyed a lovely evening. The service was very good and accommodate our needs very well.
The food was very good. My roti canai with chicken curry was not spicy enough despite on the menu being stated spicy.
The mango pudding was so delicious.
Overall, good evening out.
Friendly staff and great ambiance make for relaxed and enjoyable dining here. The food is well up to scratch and as spicy as you can take it; order extra sambal if you are habituated. Nice wine list too. Definitely go back here again.
Great food! Excellent combination of Malay and Chinese cuisine. Authentic flavors
Good place for quiet dinner. Romance or business. Food ok. Solid all round.
Delicious food always, perfect for a special occasion
Me and my friends really enjoyed it at Zheng
The food was tasty and service was good
Outstanding food, service, price and ambience! Highly recommend!
Very tasty food and good variety, attentive waiters and relaxed atmosphere
Delicious food! Fairly large portions but very tasty. Service a little patchy, but very friendly.
Quality service and great food.
A shadow of what it was. I've been going here quite regularly since it opened. Unfortunately this last visit has put me off going again. There was no one to welcome us when we walked in. Service was perfunctory at best and actually offhand at times. Food is actually still ok, but the portion size has shrunk and the value for money is now very poor indeed. My attempt to raise this gently with the staff was met with indifference and disagreement. What a shame, this was a nice addition to the area and a 'go to' for me.
Really good food, interesting cocktails and quick service. Staff were really polite and friendly, and you get free prawn crackers (always a bonus). Lovely atmosphere! 10/10 would return.
Great food ! Really enjoyed the meal and good wines too
Took my girlfriend here for her birthday and we were very impressed. It was nice and quiet on a Saturday afternoon. The service and food were both excellent (especially the beef rendang) and they even gave us a special dessert for her birthday. Highly recommended.
great food, fantastic service, lovely ambience.... will come back for the chilli squid and nasi goreng.
I went here for my birthday. The food and the ambiance was amazing. The staff really went out of their way in ensuring that I had a good birthday. Would definitely recommend!
Excellent authentic Malaysian n Asean inspired menu . Good service .
Love this place.
Been 3 times now & every times it delivers.
Modern Asian restaurant with a cool decor
Service is great our waiter was super friendly and very efficient.
Last but not least the FOOD is delicious Asian flavours with a little twist. They have started making cocktail. I had a chilli martini which was so tasty.
highly recommend and will go back.
Went for my mother’s birthday with family.
Lovely food, she’s a vegetarian and they had good options for her.
They added a lovely touch for her birthday.
Staff are upbeat and helpful.
Great experience I will definitely return.
We loved it. Please try to the aubergine starter. I would have just eaten that and been happy. We shared three mains amongst four people along with vegetables, rice and Singapore noodles. Everything was top notch - full of flavour, spicy without being painful.
The service was great. Really attentive without being ‘in your face’.
I definitely will return.
Arrived and were quickly seated. We were given drinks menu but had to ask for food menu! We had to ask on 3 separate occasions for the bottle of prosecco and 4 times for the bottle of mineral water (and it was because they had forgotten not that we were impatient)! This is why I have rated them poorly for service, but they somewhat redeemed themselves later on hence two stars. They appear to have enough wait staff, but clearly are disorganised. Perhaps they should write down the order instead of trying to memorise it because that isn’t working out.
The water wasn’t chilled and the drinks were served after appetiser! The prosecco was decent. The complimentary prawn crackers had one cracker that looked like someone had bitten into it. I sure hope they don’t pass uneaten crackers from one table to the next!
The food quality is good but the selection is limited in suiting my tastes (peppercorns or chilli in king prawn dishes isn’t to my liking). Overall it is a nice little restaurant, but at mid/high end prices I expected better.
We had a reservation for 2pm. On our arrival the restaurant was so busy that we were just standing for 5-10 min till we were noticed. However, food was great. But service charge 12.5% cannot be justified.
Very nice place to go. The manager was very helpful and friendly and took time to explain the menu. The food presentation was amazing. The food tastes amazing. Well worth the money and drive. Would definitely go again. The staff make the place.
Fabulous food and very helpful staff. A favourite with us!!
Food was amazing but really let down by the service. Drinks took ages to come and when it did only one came and I was told the other had finished so I ordered an alternative. My wifes drink did not have a straw so had to ask. The alternative drink took a very long time to come. The staff serving the food was unprofessional. Starters were not cleared on the table before mains being served. I asked for us to have cuttlery the waiter only brought one set. Other people's food almost got served to us. For the price being paid the service was very very poor. I did not feedback to management as it was my wife's birthday and did not want to ruin the mood. When the bill came I paid and another waiter came 5mins later requesting payment that I had already paid?
Great food, nice environment and good service. The halal option was great. Highly recommend this place and will definitely come here again.
We visited Zheng for my daughters birthday. As a family we really enjoy good Malay cooking. This was extremely good. Delicious satay and beef rendang! The staff were charming, and looked after us very well - even taking a Polaroid snapshot of us all at dinner! A lovely touch. And producing a cupcake for her birthday!
A lovely restaurant down the road from south Kensington station on a quiet corner with street parking after hours. This restaurant was bustling but intimate, set over two floors with a basement bar. The service is personal and friendly but non intrusive. The waiter made excellent suggestions.
Malay food is already a great fusion of Asian cuisine and Zheng did not disappoint. The whole menu is halal (even the duck) and has great vegetable and meat options. The starting platter is a great sharing option to start with generous portions. I had the duck which was cooked to perfection with a wonderful soy sauce.
The bill for two (with no alcohol) was £100 including service. That's obviously pricey but not bad considering the level of cuisine, location and overall service.
We took some friends for dinner and they loved the food. We were the food is always good and staff very nice- authentic Malay food.
We went to this restaurant for a work lunch and were offered the set lunch menu which is reasonably good value considering the location. However, the waiter who seated us was quite abrupt throughout our meal and even took away our complimentary prawn crackers before we'd finished. The same waiter was cold, aloof and seemed somewhat irritated the whole time, even though we were one of only 3 other groups in the whole restaurant at the time. The food was okay, although the beef noodle soup left a lot to be desired. I counted 3 bits of beef in the whole thing. The dessert was infinitely better (kueh dadar). Overall, it's a nice place to go for a quick lunch if you don't mind being served by rude waiters.
Elegant environment with good food. Good for dinner and lunch. I wish the menu is with variety. It has not changed since opening....
I absolutely love this restaurant, form the decor, to the food and to the service. The price is very decent as well.
Delicious food and very good service. Highly recommend the crispy aromatic duck and pancakes, chicken satay skewers and Singapore noodles.
Outstanding customer service. Martin our host was so attentive and made sure our needs were catered for. Very relaxed environment with nice food and is great for special occasions like birthdays.
Great authentic food and first class service, could not wish for more on what was a lovely evening meal.
Food was amazing! Was abit disappointing that we never got a cupcake with a candle in it for my husbands birthday even though I’d made the restaurant aware of his birthday. Also never got a Polaroid picture taken which I know other people who have eaten there have had one taken and given to them. Other than that, the service was good, it wasn’t loud and affordable.
