Zheng Chelsea Ratings and Reviews
Travelled from Yorkshire to hav a tue Malaysian Meal with a friend who was born and brought up there. Excellent service from walking in the door to leaving, Excellent food and wine. I highly recommend Zheng as there is a choice of Non spicy to very spicy and interesting dishes. Will certainly visit again.
We have been looking for a Malaysian restaurant in SW London for a long time and finally found Zheng. It was beyond our expectation, up there with Singapore Garden in Swiss Cottage. Food was excellent, authentic Malaysian dishes - satay chicken skewer, salted chilli squid, spring rolls, Nasi Lemark, beef rendang, green beans with chilli mince, sweet and sour sesame chicken, satay king prawns, the Malaysian rice noodles "Char Kuey Teow" - were all top notch. We ended the meals with Malaysian dessert which we longed for - the green pancakes with shredded soft coconut. Zheng is now one of our top favorite restaurants. We will definitely go back again and again.
We had read great reviews of Zheng in Oxford but never made it there so were very excited to hear that a branch was opening round the corner from where we live in Chelsea. And we were not disappointed. The food is amazing, the room is rather beautiful and the staff are great. Standouts for us were the salt and pepper aubergine - who knew an aubergine could taste so good - which reminded us of the Chinese chips (fried French beans) at Hunan and A Wong as well as the crispy cereal king prawns which were delicious in a bonkers way and made us smile. A lot. There are so many delicious sounding things on the menu that I think we will just need to keep going back - very soon hopefully. Chelsea is not known for great restaurants but this is seriously good.
We had a very relaxed, enjoyable and reasonably priced dinner. Excellent and authentic Malaysian / Straits Chinese food. A very good and appropriate list of reasonably priced wines. Service was good - attentive but not intrusive. We particularly enjoyed the salt and pepper chilli squid and the Rendang Chicken but everything we ate was delicious and in fact our biggest problem was deciding which dishes to have which we plan to solve by going back again - and again - and working our way through the menu. We strongly recommend it!
Very good food, especially the chilli aubergine and chilli squid. The cereal prawns are surprising and very tasty, although better as a sharing dish. The Penang noodles were also excellent with a fiery samba on the side. The only let down was the scallops in XO sauce which were underwhelming. Very good, friendly service in a dying room which has been well thought through and is restful, with good spacing between tables. The price was on the expensive side but worth it for the quality of the food. I would recommend.
Delightful and delicious! It was our last night in London after a glorious 2 weeks in UK. We had already had many lovely dinners, but this one was, perhaps, the best. Roti canai was especially wonderful. Restaurant was somewhat difficult to find, due to poor street signage, but it was worth it!
Authentic Malaysian cuisine. Menu includes some common Malaysian food, eg rendang beef, nasi lemak, roti canai, but they also serves some unique dishes, such as chaipu tofu, crispy cereal prawn etc. Deco here is very different from other Chinese or Malaysian restaurant - it's modern but you can also see elements of Asian heritage in the details. Staff here was very helpful and friendly as - took time to explain the dishes and provide recommendation. They also have a "chef's choice" option where you can specify your budget and let them pick the dishes according to your specification.
The food was delicious, everyone really enjoyed it. Zheng is a lovely restaurant, with friendly and attentive staff. The only disappointment we had was with the cocktails - we had Long Island ice teas and they were not great. Other than that I'd highly recommend!
